It's not bad, it's got a cool layout. But reading the reviews is kind of tough, the comments are cluttered and hard to make out what's what.
I agree with this completely.

There really needs to be a 'post rock' option under the sub-genres too.

Iai 01-18-2005 03:11 PM
Kayne West - Never Let Me Down. That song is hot dammit! Believe it ot not, it's a good MTV-rap song.
That's my favourite track on The College Dropout. Are they releasing it as a single now, or what?

sweboy 01-18-2005 03:14 PM

I have no idea, I haven't heard of anything like that.

So what are some other good songs off that album? Me wants more.

Iai 01-18-2005 03:33 PM

Jesus Walks
Spaceship
Get Em High (with Mos Def and Talib Kweli)
All Falls Down
Heart Of The City (Ain't No Love) (from Jay-Z's Blueprint - KanYe produced it)

Jesus Walks and All Falls Down you'll probably know if you've watched any MTV or listening to any radio......well, ever.

pixiesfanyo 01-18-2005 03:39 PM

Get Paid in Full! Sweboy, it's the best rap album ever.

Iai 01-18-2005 03:43 PM

Not quite the best, but DEFINITELY up there. Top 5 easy, probably top 3.

pinkyeti 01-18-2005 03:51 PM

I do not own the album, but the singles I've heard are not only among the best rap singles I know, but are also very high on the list of best pop singles (meaning pop as a whole, not just a genre) ever.

pixiesfanyo 01-18-2005 04:03 PM

^ you should know that singles suck and are usually the worst tracks on the album.

sweboy 01-18-2005 04:05 PM

Still, none of them American rappers can touch the Swedish Top MC's. I'm telling you. We've got the feeling here, we've got the flow. Sweden's rocking the rap scene, that is fo' sho'.

Referring to KanYe or Eric B & Rakim?

incubliss 01-18-2005 04:33 PM
^ you should know that singles suck and are usually the worst tracks on the album.
no, singles are almost always the most accessible song, to get the album across. so many times i've seen the best songs released as singles, and i find out the rest of the songs suck on the album.

singles are usually chosen on how well they can be played on the radio or tv channels too.

pixiesfanyo 01-18-2005 04:41 PM

^ Stop listening to bad music then, most singles are the most accessible meaning they are created to appeal to an audience, thus not being a true reflection of the artist.

Radiohead - Creep is the perfect example of this.

The Ashtray Girl 01-18-2005 04:52 PM

That's hardly always the case though, with more 'alternative' bands maybe, but with the more indie rock side of things the singles are often their best songs, perfect example Oasis.

Iai 01-18-2005 04:53 PM

Then again, a lot of people - diehard RH fans included - say Creep is the best song on Pablo Honey.

It all depends on the artist. Some artists are album-orientated, some are singles-orientated. Though, on that thread, most of us would say that album-orientated bands are far more 'credible' and 'good'.

Black roses growing where red beauties once stood
It is the sign of lost life
It is the sign of lost love
The figure who once stood in its place
replaced by a black rose, with pedals that burn like fire

The fires it unleashes scorns me everyday
I can feel it's burning ember engulf me more
When I am without you

Burning me alive is what it's doing
looking it in the eys sends a chill through my life
ending its reign would be so liberating

But how
how to begin a new life
is it what i want
is it what i need
is it what i deserve

:o

I am listening to The United States of America, and the first tune on this album makes me really want a calliope. Buy me one.

It has 3 names, and all are badass. Calliope, steam piano, and steam organ.

What could be a cooler item?

Robert Crumb 01-19-2005 07:13 PM

The Llamatron.

The best part about the Tool song "Jimmy" is that the track leading up to it, "Intermission" is the main riff played on a calliope organ.
