I have AIM also. I downloaded that Skype thing for the hell of it.

That Downfall video wasn't too bad, just hard to see because of all the green and black. It's such a ****ing amazing song.

It's not hard to download AIM.
Jred250 08-28-2005 04:47 PM

hello i am new to these forums and was wondering if anyone could give me a little help. i have heard a lot about ''Childeren Of Bodom'' but have never heard any of their music. Are there any recommendations worth listening to? or does anyone have and YSI'ts they would like to share with me? thanks

IheartSP 08-28-2005 04:49 PM

I'll upload Kissing the Shadows for you. I suggest someone else uploads Bed of Razors.

Shadows 08-28-2005 04:49 PM

Hello there, and welcome to the forums. :) We'll all be happy to give you some recommendations and YSI's.

For the more black metallish and atmospheric sound, try their first album Something Wild.

For the faster and more aggressive, try their second album Hatebreeder.

For the most synth-laden and Scandinavian feeling (and probably most technical) try their third, Follow the Reaper.

Their fourth, Hate Crew Deathroll, is the heaviest and least techical so far.

Recommended songs: Kissing the Shadows, Deadnight Warrior, Bed of Razors, Needled 24/7.

flamesofbodom 08-28-2005 04:53 PM

Ill upload some stuff too.

Keep in mind that the vocals are not important in this band :p

theres kissing the shadows. Can someone explaint o me what makes Something Wild black metal?

Shadows 08-28-2005 04:57 PM

It isn't black metal. It's power metal, just like everything else. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

flamesofbodom 08-28-2005 04:57 PM

A lot of it sounds black metal-ish

Shadows 08-28-2005 04:58 PM

A specific example: Listen to the intro of In the Shadows, after the power chords. The part with tremolo picking and keyboards sounds very black metal.

IheartSP 08-28-2005 04:58 PM

Well I think it sounds liek powermetal but many people say it's slightly black metal. I've heard some Dimmu Borgir, some Borknagar, some Mayhem, and some Emporer, and none of it sounds anywhere close to Something Wild.

Yeah I see where you are coming from there, but that's just one part. When listening to Red Light In My Eyes or Lake Bodom I am really just seeing a dark powermetal feel.

There's a very thin between dark power metal and melodic black metal. I've heard stuff by Dissectio and Naglfar that could easily be considered power metal. Almost every song on Something Wild has black metal elements in it.

That is great guys I really appreciate your efforts in helping me out. The band obviously attracts valued fans. I will give you some feedback shortly on my opinions, once again thank you.

IheartSP 08-28-2005 05:06 PM

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll check out those 2 bands you listed.

Shadows 08-28-2005 05:08 PM

It happens. No problem.

To Jred250: What other kind of music do you like? Bodom fans always seem to be very diehard and dedicated for some reason. Perhaps it's the fusion between unimaginable musical skill and catchy as all hell riffing/soloing.

flamesofbodom 08-28-2005 05:08 PM

EDIT: my moms on the phone, ill get as many songs as i can

IheartSP 08-28-2005 05:12 PM

Well if I had heard IYF or AYDY as my first song and not Kissing the Shadows, I probably wouldn't be posting here right now. So I'm glad we gave him good ones to start on. I was confused as hell the first time I heard Needled 24/7. I thought it was a different band mislabeled or something.

Shadows 08-28-2005 05:14 PM

Then let's upload a bunch of old songs for him!! We need more CoB fans around here!!!!!!

flamesofbodom 08-28-2005 05:22 PM
