More trivia then:

David Gilmour had had a bet with their manager that Dark Side of the Moon wouldn't crack the US top 10.

The original title for Dark Side of the Moon was going to be 'Eclipsed,' (many of you know this). They were going to name it that because Medicine Head, a folk rock act, released an album in 1972 by the name of Dark Side of the Moon. But since Medicine Head's album flopped, they decided to call theirs Dark Side of the Moon.

Dark Side of the Moon was first performed at the Dome in Brighton, England, June 20th 1972. But due to malfunctions with the tapes, they were only able to reach Money that evening.

That's all for now... Maybe more later. I suppose.

Otherside 03-28-2005 08:32 PM

Gilmour, can you re-upload the Live at Pompeii tracks? The original link exceeded it's bandwidth :\

pigonthewing82 03-28-2005 08:37 PM

My cousin just go the inside out book by Nick Mason. Its really good, every Floyd fan should have it. I mean I only looked at the pictures, but even that is enough. There is one on almost every page and well the parts I read were really good. Also you get to hear what happened in Pink Floyd from probally the most neutral member.

slowhand 03-28-2005 08:42 PM

I'm gonna have to check it out. I love books with pictures... =D

What's a live floyd album with Waters?

Kingofdudes 03-28-2005 09:02 PM

Ummagumma
Live at Pompeii(DVD)
Is there anybody out there?(The Wall Live)

pigonthewing82 03-28-2005 09:08 PM
Pulse
Delicate Sound of Thunder
Prism(bootleg)

I recommend Pulse
I don't think those are with Waters, though I haven't heard Prism. The only ones with Waters that I know of that are non bootleg are Ummagumma, and The Wall Live (Is There Anybody Out There)

slowhand 03-28-2005 09:09 PM

Waters is not on Delicate Sound of Thunder... and I don't think he's on Pulse either...

Kingofdudes 03-28-2005 09:09 PM

crap, I could have sworn he said without waters

I've made mistakes like that before, tell me more about Prism. Its very rare I come across a bootleg that I havn't even heard of.

Shazzam posted it a while ago. I think it was about 1987-1988. I like how it has Welcome to the Machine, and Echoes :D

pigonthewing82 03-28-2005 10:59 PM

How come you aren't on AIM anymore?

So, I finally caved, and bought the CD version of Ummagumma. It's NOT NEARLY as good as the tape. So shove that in your pipe and :smoke:.

Aaron (Animosity) you are running a big risk. Just so you know...

clown_phobia 03-29-2005 04:02 AM

what are the guitar solos like on wish you were here?

Riva 03-29-2005 05:20 AM

Great. Probably some of Gilmour's most emotional works. Another reason why WYWH is THE GREATEST FLOYD BY FLOYD AND POSSIBLY ANY BAND.

Riva 03-29-2005 05:43 AM
I agree with what Riva said. I'd say that for consistency, Gilmour's solos on Wish You Were Here are his best. Obviously you've got both parts of Shine On You Crazy Diamond which his guitar absolutely makes, but the guitar intro and outro to Wish You Were Here is so beautiful as well. I still think that's the band's best album, and one of my favourites of all time as well.
You didn't put it in caps. I can no longer communicate with you as an equal. :(
