I FINALLY got Turn It Around today. :)

CONNER_NWHC 11-02-2004 08:44 PM

Great CD did you get the DVD with it?

capri sun junkie 11-02-2004 08:45 PM

Yesp. But I probably won't be able to watch it... I've got quite a bit of homework... :(

CONNER_NWHC 11-02-2004 08:45 PM

Watch it at the same time.

shane italian 11-02-2004 09:46 PM

I totally overlooked Bloody Sunday. Great band.
This has been bugging me for a few days...Is screamo a real genre? Yes i've heard of Saetia, CTTS, The Kodan Armada, Kaospilot, Orchid etc. Alot of kids on other forums have been telling me "Just because a band screams, they get their own genre?" and they made a valid point...
Some who actually know what they're talking about say screamo is a false genre. I still consider myself a newb, but Shane can elaborate on this, as he is one of those folk. *cue for Shane's entrance*

PlasticGangster 11-02-2004 09:59 PM

Yeah
/waits for Shane

Well i dont think screamo is a real genre. But I like it. Its good music. If all bands who screamed were in screamo, that would be way too many.

shane italian 11-02-2004 10:16 PM

Emo originally had screams, look at Moss Icon and the Still Life. Saying that a band is screamo because they scream the majority of the time is pointless to me. To make this a short explanation, look at it this way: punk is built on a foundation of political and social beliefs as well as trying to change the system, so calling a band political punk would be rather pointless considering that was part of the punch to the genre to begin with.

shane italian 11-03-2004 09:55 AM

Woah, I just found out two awesome things.

If you buy the Warriors CD and send Eulogy Records your receipt you can get an Until the End cd (or a Nevea Tears cd...but that's gay) for FREE!

Oh and I'm so going to Over My Dead Body's last show on the 27th. The show is only $7. That is SO good. Internal Affairs are playing as well.

No no no.

'Screamo' is just a slang word, not a proper genre.

Of course, alot of those bands sound alike, although some have more Power Violence influences, some are way Crusty, others are kind of Emo..

Calling all these bands 'Emo' would be stupid too, just listen to Orchid or Circle Takes the Square.

Good point.

Most emo bands had screams, Evergreen for example didn't.

The screams were also way more emotional and less screamy.. they sounded way more heartfelt and less RUAHH~!!

man you probably dont even know what crust is, so dont be throwing its name around...

tornpictures 11-03-2004 10:44 AM

Maybe you haven't heard enough Crust bands.. or enough crusty 'screamo' bands.

Do you like Cut the ****?
That's my idea of crust.. correct me if I'm wrong.

tornpictures 11-03-2004 10:44 AM

Or Phobia, Resist & Exist, that kind of stuff.

Feel The Darkness 11-03-2004 11:52 AM

Resist & Exist :thumb:
...and Phobia is grind, not crust...still a great band though...

and as for crusty screamo, it wouldnt be possible, it might sound crusty, but that doesnt make it crust...alot of things sound crusty, but its not too hard to obtain such a sound, although the thing that makes crust is very unlikely to be found in any "screamo" bands...

tornpictures 11-03-2004 12:19 PM

Oh wait.. they'd probably have to skip washing for a month to be crust.

1. Yeah, I found about that CD thing the week AFTER I bought their CD at their show. :upset:

2. Where is the OMDB show? Che Cafe?

BuddyBigsby 11-03-2004 03:31 PM

I'm posting from my school library in between classes.

The guy next to me is on MX looking up Atreyu, AILD, FATA, and Silverstein tabs. I bet he's one of the guys in Pop-Punk.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-03-2004 03:51 PM

HAH! I'm sitting on my *** at home playing guitar, also 4 day weekend.

Whats a good song to learn how to play, I'm bored.

BuddyBigsby 11-03-2004 03:58 PM

Count Me Out - That one song I forget the name of.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-03-2004 05:38 PM

hey now... Atreyu and AILD are good bands. FATA can be decent at times too.

BuddyBigsby 11-03-2004 06:44 PM

I like Atreyu's first full-length. AILD have some cool songs, but extremely generic. I like FATA fine.

PlasticGangster 11-03-2004 07:06 PM

FATA's singer used to add distortion and other effects to his voice at shows

Gotkookie 11-03-2004 07:10 PM

A lot of vocalists do that.

Let's Chop Cats! 11-03-2004 07:11 PM

The only time I like that is for Noise bands.
