METALLICA's HETFIELD Talks About DAVE MUSTAINE
In a brand-new interview with ElectricBasement.com, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield spoke about the band's latest endeavour, the 'Some Kind of Monster' feature documentary. Asked about the inclusion of a scene in which METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich sits down with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine for a one-on-one therapy session and whether he's had a chance to have a similar sit-down with Mustaine, Hetfield said, 'Not yet. Not yet, and there's no reason not to because him and I share a lot of struggle, a lot of similar path and really dealing with perfectionism and just beating ourselves up. You know the critics in our head that are just so mean to us. So we share a lot, and I see in that part how much struggle he still goes though and how much he really wanted to dump on Lars and how much I wanted to be there and protect my little brother there, you know. Um, but I'm glad I wasn't there. It was good that they had, I mean it is an extremely revealing scene for both of them. I think that Lars finally doesn't know what to do. Lars finally isn't in control and the camera is there, it's great! I mean, to see him that way, to see that human part of him and for Dave too, to really just let it out and then you know, maybe him be able to see that wow, if he could see that. I hope he watches it. You know. Because when I watch scenes of me it's like, 'Dude! I would not put up with that. I would not be in a room with you.' You know. It's a great mirror.'

Man, James must of had a sex change or something...
Yes, Infernal Majesty and Artillery are both worth checking out. Both are excellent bands. |
i checked out an infernal majesty live video on their site, how come they've been around since 1986 but only had a small following in the video?

|
[QUOTE=GraveRobbersINC]What the Hell, Iommi did a solo record [/QUOTE]
uh... yeah, quite a while ago. I thought everyone would have seen it in used CD stores by now. It's just called IOMMI. Lots of guest singers on it... Phil Anselmo, Henry Rollins, Ian Astbury, Peter Steele... and a few more too... |
Phil+Iommi=well..suck. I'll look at my local used store and see if I can find it.
|
Iommi actually did a few solo cds, although only one under the name 'Iommi'. Seventh Star is an Iommi solo project under the sabbath name and i think a few after it were supposed to be his solo records, if there wasn't any pressure from the record lable to release somthing for sabbath.
I havn't heard the Iommi CD, but i guess ill get around to it one day. I guess it would sound like sabbath around that period, as Iommi has been sabbath since the early eighties. |
forbidden are quite good, i prefer heathen though....

i've downloaded two Heathen albums off their site, it reminds me of Anthrax slightly

Guitarist JEFF HANNEMAN Talks About His Favorite SLAYER Album
i was just going to post that e-card
In a recent interview with KNAC.com, SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman was asked to name his favorite SLAYER album. "I hate to say it, but probably 'Reign In Blood'," Jeff replied. "Not just because of what other people think of it — it's more like at that time that album was stamped into my memory because things were really starting to change for us and things were starting to get professional and serious, and that's the first time we had a tour bus and a real record label. And we put that album down… I don't know how long it took us, but everything was done, everything was fast, everything was good. In fact, you've probably heard this, but our biggest scare on that record is that once we got finished with it we checked the time and it was like 28 minutes. We were like, 'Holy ****. Too short!' [Laughs] So we sat there with [producer Rick] Rubin and thought, 'Does it sound great? Yes. Do we all like it? Yes. **** it!' [Laughs]" With regards to the songwriting process in SLAYER, Hanneman said, "We just basically — we always start with music. So I'll come up with something at home, or Kerry [King] will come up with something. And eventually — you know, because I can do my stuff at home because I have a new 24-track and a drum machine, so if I get an idea, I can run with it as far as I can get it. Then I'll bring it to these guys and play it, see what they think, and Kerry will add a riff or Dave [Lombardo] will say something about 'Change it here' or 'Change it there' and Kerry does the same thing. And then when we get together we try to get the basic structure of the song done, and then we kinda know where the lyrics go and where the leads go. That's when the lyrics start falling into place, and the song will change here and there; but it's all done spontaneously, it's not like — we don’t sit down around a table before the album comes out and have a meeting on what the album is going to sound like. It's whatever we're into." |
this is gonna be a good year for thrash
