Inspired from the instrument oud (which is used in a lot of Turkish and other eastern music). Thus the 11 string. Last string is 1 string, others double. It'll sound sexy after going through my pedals.

edit: goddammit noon

illmitch 03-18-2011 01:20 PM

illmitch 03-18-2011 01:23 PM

yesterday was thursday thursday

P13 03-18-2011 01:23 PM

I want to start playing guitar again but don't really know where to start
I need to learn how to piece complex chords together and just practice scales, I think.

I guess I'll get started when school winds down

illmitch 03-18-2011 01:25 PM

today it is friday friday
learning music theory is for suckers

coming from a guy whos played piano for 15 years, music theory is essential to any real understanding of your instrument
learning music theory is for suckers

lol

Angmar 03-18-2011 01:30 PM

Theory is really important to composition and learning more instruments I wish I was more knowledgeable in it.

P13 03-18-2011 01:31 PM

apple recruitment seminar, going to see if I get a job. I applied for Genius and they sent an email back in like 2 weeks

adbforever 03-18-2011 01:32 PM
Theory is really important to composition
nah it really isn't

after playing for a certain amount of time you can improvise riffs/transitions just by having an ear of what sounds good to you

shortz 03-18-2011 01:33 PM

@shortz
thanks
nah it really isn't

improvise on all the base knowledge you learned

oh wait you don' know any because you do'nt know any theory

please don't try and argue in favour of something that is so obviously wrong

Angmar 03-18-2011 01:33 PM

You guys need to stop listening to the media lies about theory.

adbforever 03-18-2011 01:36 PM

yeah thats my point gorgon or w/e your name is

you don't need to understand scales to play enjoyable music

Larry Bird 03-18-2011 01:36 PM

if u now theory ur better at writing songs this is a good exampl----------------------------------

http://sputnikmusic.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7

Angmar 03-18-2011 01:37 PM

Not saying you HAVE to know theory to write good music but it certainly can do nothing but help.

illmitch 03-18-2011 01:37 PM

when you improvise, you're almost certainly using some scale

learning theory will help you expand the variety of what you play

Larry Bird 03-18-2011 01:38 PM

Proof IT

P13 03-18-2011 01:39 PM
yeah thats my point gorgon or w/e your name is

gorgon

I never said music that was written by people that don't have a foundation in theory isn't good.
I'm just saying that having a base in theory will allow you to experiment more and create better, lasting and more impressive music.

knowing theory does not make you a great song writer, it just improves your ability to write songs.

adbforever 03-18-2011 01:40 PM

of course it can help, but really

when you're playing heavily distorted music, it's not really a big deal

if you want to play classical/progressive type of music, then yeah theory is pretty damn important

why do you think ugly slobs play death metal and pretentious douchebags play prog

Larry Bird 03-18-2011 01:40 PM

p13 kwjnoing what hes talking about pick 1

illmitch 03-18-2011 01:40 PM

theres definitely no theory in technical death metal

adbforever 03-18-2011 01:41 PM

like really do you think I care about tonality in DEATH METAL

hurr
theres definitely no theory in technical death metal
did I mention technical death metal? nope.
