New Breed is definately a great book. It's one of those things where you can notice a definate improvement in just a couple minutes of practice.

One time when I was really drunk my friends convinced me to eat a mouthful of wasabi. The result was the worst 10 minutes of my life.

MeaninglessPhoto 09-14-2006 07:09 PM

I snorted Wasabi for a $300 bet once. It was fun. My nose bled for an hour nonstop.

Sunshine 09-14-2006 07:10 PM
my sister used to watch that show.

i really dont like most of what they come out with though; they look like something youd get out of ross in the clearance section.
It's weird, 'cause I think a lot of what they come out with is God-awful, but I love the show. It gives me ideas.

And theres this really cool guy, rock-and-roll designer. I like his clothes.
Well there's no doubt Stick Control will improve your playing if you use it.

Adcanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer is a fantastic jazz/swing book. You might want to check out Rudimental Logic or The Rudimental Cookbook, those are great rudimental playing books.

Of course can' forget The New Breed, wich is very much a multifacisted book and you can take the concepts used in it and run forever, hence why it's really just not a book you can complete, like Stick Control.

Gary Chaffee's Rhythm series (there's 4) are excellent as well. The Stickings and Accent book maybe be hte one for you.
What do you think of Chris Brien and Grant Collin's work Josiah? They both have some high-level dvds out that I'm thinking of looking into. Do you know them?

Win A Rabbit 09-15-2006 02:12 AM

So I voted tonight for the first time. I'm 90% sure the vote will be against construction, since it got delayed for an hour due to not even having enough people come out to vote at all. Oh, and derryk, if you read this, watch City TV news tomorrow. I should be on there. I'm the one in the back corner with the beard.

And I'm very mad/sad/confused/a bunch of other emotions. One of my closest friends just told me a couple hours ago she signed up for the military, for combat specifically. I didn't know how to respond. It sucks.

Futuro 09-15-2006 02:20 AM

They have women in combat?

Im not saying that as in "lolz wimpy women cant fight!" but more in the way of "Oh that is different."

Josiah 09-15-2006 02:21 AM

HAhaha don't worry, The United States Military does not put females into combat positions.

on a happier note!
here's a picture i took earlier tonight haha http://josiahmicheletti.com/ozzdebbie.jpg

Win A Rabbit 09-15-2006 02:28 AM

Yeah, it's Canada's military. They'll take anything.

It's not like I'm expecting she's going to get shot her first day overseas or anything, it's just really weird to have a friend tell you that. She always seemed really anti-violence, of every kind. I guess it's what she wants to do though, and there's nothing I can do to stop her.

Futuro 09-15-2006 02:30 AM

Wait, Canada. You guys don't fight wars, you fight in hockey games.

Josiah 09-15-2006 02:31 AM

Canada has a military?!

No, seriouslly, they do? I did not think they had much in the way of armed forces.

Well I wouldn't worry about a girl, in Canada's army.. hahahha come on that's just funny to say!!... yes, nothing to worry about there.

Granted, it's a bit disturbing for someone to actually want to go kill. Though most people have no idea what they are getting into when they join.

Win A Rabbit 09-15-2006 02:45 AM

It's not really a military in the sense of the United States' military.

But yes, there are troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we're averaging roughly one Canadian troop casualty a week, I'd say. Atleast recently.

She did it for "education" reasons. I think she signed up for 2 years, and then they pay for 4 years of education. They wanted to put her in Intelligence, but she told them she'd rather do combat.

:(

some jive turkey 09-15-2006 03:48 AM

hmmmm, I was just looking at Damo's "final warning " post.

I can tell he's ticked off because he got rid of that very cute cat avatar, which was replaced with " behave or leave".

-it's a shame
*loves siamese cats* <-(even though his was burmese)

Aaron 09-15-2006 05:30 AM

We_Love_Lime 09-15-2006 05:54 AM

How are things with you?

Aaron 09-15-2006 05:59 AM

yeah pretty good mate. you?

We_Love_Lime 09-15-2006 06:03 AM

Meh not bad.
Realised we had a Bio test this morning.
Have to finish 2 chapters worth of reviews.
Woke up at 5 to finish them.
Havn't finished them.

But on the plus note.
Thsi asian chick said I was one of the ten people who could get in her pants ( not really, just for fun ) So that was quite an accomplishment on my part.
And I think I'm contributing a little in the steel pan section. Charlie feels like questioning my logic though.
Ergh, he doesn't like me.

Ahhh now that sucks!

If somebody gave me 1 hour a day, I could help them become one of the best players ever...

Squirrel 09-15-2006 07:34 AM

Hey guys, i'm a guitar forum go-er, played drums like .. twice in my life so it's safe to say I know nothing worthwhile about drums or drummers etc, so I wondered if I could have some input on this. It's not really thread worthy so I hope it's ok here.

I've been listening to The Berzerker a lot recently; always been a fan of their stuff. So I dug out their DVD and watched a few tracks and here's a video of them practising their song Reality.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTj-_A0Zbkw

Now, this absolutely blows my mind with the speed, and also the stamina for not just that song, but to manage a 2hr+ set of material this fast or faster.

I'm basically wondering if this guy [Gary] is a good drummer [beyond his sheer speed]; is his technique good? is he cheating in any way? is he doing anything other drummers dont tend to do ? etc

Yeah, it's odd, but I just love his palying and wanted to know what you guys think. I can uplaod some songs if anyone wants to hear more.

Thanks.

Banshee 09-15-2006 07:53 AM
