I'm loving the Beatles Anthology book. Never before have I read a biography without a single urge to skip pages.

NP: The Cars- Touch and Go

Seafroggys 11-16-2005 12:31 AM

I skip the page with the Two VIrgin's picture on it. I've never looked at it for more than .25 seconds before hurrying the page turn.
I skip the page with the Two VIrgin's picture on it. I've never looked at it for more than .25 seconds before hurrying the page turn.
 Fortunately I haven't gotten that far yet.

Jacaran 11-16-2005 07:43 AM

Oh! Stones talk.

I like Sticky Fingers better, mostly because "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", "Brown Sugar" and of course, "Wild Horses" but Beggar''s ain't very far behind for me. But lets do some math:
Exile > Let It Bleed > Flowers > Sticky Fingers > Aftermath > Beggar's Banquet > Their Satanic Majesties Request > Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out > Between the Buttons > Out of Our Heads, The Rolling Stones Now... etc...

But it can change from day to day depending home I'm feeling.

jpj 11-16-2005 02:17 PM

I think Sticky Fingers is my favorite Stones album, I don't know, I haven't listened to the Stones in forever.

What other Beck albums are in the same vein as Blow by Blow because the other solo stuff I've heard from him (Truth, Guitar Shop) is nothing like it and nowhere near as good.

My sister completely freaks out on that page, lmao

That book is the Bible

Broken Arrow 11-16-2005 03:01 PM

Maybe I should listen to Blow by Blow because I haven't really heard anything I really like by Beck.

Has only heard Truth and Wired.

barney 11-16-2005 03:16 PM

Is Creedence Clearwater Revival any good?

If you like Blues/country/classic rock theres pretty much nobody better. John Fogerty is amazing

Probot77 11-16-2005 03:23 PM

Probot77 11-16-2005 03:24 PM

And Neil Young of course

Probot77 11-16-2005 03:28 PM

Allman Bros. are amazing live despite all the god damn hippies at their shows

barney 11-16-2005 03:30 PM
If you like Blues/country/classic rock theres pretty much nobody better. John Fogerty is amazing
Alright, I've been really interested in them lately.

JonG 11-16-2005 04:00 PM

Willy and the Poor Boys and Cosmo's Factory are awesome albums. Chronicles is maybe the best compilation also.

wired and live: jeff beck with the jan hammer group. those and blow by blow are his onl fusion albums. great stuff, but you didnt like guitar shop?

Glitterati 11-16-2005 06:01 PM

That book is always a good read. Or, you can just look at all the pretty pictures.

np: The Cars - Just What I Needed

BludgeonySteve 11-16-2005 06:10 PM
Is Creedence Clearwater Revival any good?
The answer to your question is yes. I suggest Green River, Cosmo's Factory, Bayou Country and their self titled album.

jpj 11-16-2005 06:56 PM
wired and live: jeff beck with the jan hammer group. those and blow by blow are his onl fusion albums. great stuff, but you didnt like guitar shop?
Nope, didn't really care for it. Could someone upload Wired and/or Live than?

On another completely unrelated note, I am currently downloading Fable with a BT and all the sudden it jumped from 28 kB/s to the high 60's. I was so excited for like 3 minutes, than it started dropping, very quickly. My heart sunk along with the download speed :upset:

Sorry, I just needed to get that off my chest.

Ephemeral 11-16-2005 07:15 PM
I'm pretty much becoming obsessed with Sticky Fingers. Brown Sugar, Sway, Can't You Hear Me Knockin, Bitch, Moonlight Mile. Awesome album :thumb:
Yeah. Incredible album. I have had it on vinyl forever, but just recently bought the CD, and really started listening to it. Amazing stuff.

jpj 11-16-2005 07:18 PM

Is anyone else watching this Johnny Cash thing on CBS? Right now Jerry Lee Lewis and Kid Rock are playing I Walk the Line. Jerry can still play, but can't sing too well. I actually didn't even know he was still alive.

magicbus 11-16-2005 08:02 PM

I'm not a big fan of either :/

Sticky Fingers is a sweeeet album. It's my favorite Stones album, after Let It Bleed of course.

So basicaly it's not your favourite Stones album.:p

Let it Bleed is my favourite too.

zabbit82 11-16-2005 08:20 PM

Exile and Main Street and Sticky Fingers are my favorites. But I've already said that in here before...
Is Creedence Clearwater Revival any good?
They are. If youre interested in getting into them, I would pick up "Chronicle" for starters if I were you, then maybe Cosmo's Factory.

Jam2Me 11-16-2005 08:34 PM
Allman Bros. are amazing live despite all the god damn hippies at their shows
Despite the hippies? Hippies make the show awesome :smoke:

BludgeonySteve 11-16-2005 08:40 PM

Yeah, hippies improve a show. The old blues guys seem to get along with the hippies at Allman Brothers shows.

Walrus Gumboot 11-16-2005 08:53 PM

Concerts just aren't the same without that smell :D

I don't know what I would do if there were no hippies

zabbit82 11-16-2005 09:07 PM

It would be a different world of music without the hippies, thats for sure...

Glitterati 11-16-2005 09:50 PM

Thank you to whoever sent out that Syd Barrett album. I'm greatly enjoying it.
Thank you to whoever sent out that Syd Barrett album. I'm greatly enjoying it.
The Madcap Laughs? That was Robo, I believe, but yes, it's a really great album.

thickasabrick 11-16-2005 10:05 PM

I like CCR. I like hippies. I love Syd Barret, although I don't like Madcap Laughs more than any of his songs with Floyd.

Glitterati 11-16-2005 10:17 PM
So who played piano on the Highway 61 Revisited album? Was it Mike Bloomfield or Al Kooper? Because the piano playing on that album is quite good.
I know Al Kooper played on "Like A Rolling Stone", but I'm not sure about the whole album.

np: Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman <<<< my favorite song as of right now
The Madcap Laughs? That was Robo, I believe, but yes, it's a really great album.
I'm also diggin' this album a lot. I love all the songs except tracks 2 and 4. They're alright, but not my favorite.

PinkFreud 11-16-2005 10:56 PM
I looked it up and Dylan, Kooper, Frank Owen, and Paul Griffin are all credited as playing piano on the album...that's weird, I coulda sworn Bloomfield played piano somewhere.

NP: Jaco Pastorious - Blackbird (a very interesting cover, to say the least)
all i know is that bloomfield was the guitarist. i didnt know he played piany.

i like that cover. kind of odd, but its cool.

Glitterati 11-16-2005 11:09 PM

Hehehe. Pianist.

PinkFreud 11-16-2005 11:15 PM
Bloomfield used to be a pianist, but Dylan made him play guitar on the album, I think. That's what I read somewhere, at least.
for real? i thought bloomfield was always the guitarist for the paul butterfield blues band (until he left or got kicked out or whatever).

Krabsworth 11-16-2005 11:27 PM
Bloomfield used to be a pianist, but Dylan made him play guitar on the album, I think. That's what I read somewhere, at least.
Nah, his own site says he was always a guitarist. He didn't get kicked out, he just happened to pop up in Dylan's recording sessions one day. In 1967, he went and formed the Electric Flag.

I was thinking about watching it, but then I remembered I don't like Johnny Cash :-/. Ya for some reason I thought Jerry Lee Lewis was dead too...strange. I still REALLY want to see Walk the Line though.

ah, my bad. i was thinking of when he left the super sessions with kooper and had to be replaced with stephen stills.

Krabsworth 11-16-2005 11:50 PM

WPLJ by Frank Zappa is such an awesome song. It puts a smile on my face every time I hear it.
