I really just havn't gotten into a lot of the newer death metal bands and technical death metal in particular because it almost seems like its a competition to see who can be more brutal and who can do a faster blastbeat.

I believe I listened to both Process and Neurotripsticks. I'll give them another listen though.

Illogicist seems to go against some of the newer trends, I think of them as a modern version of Death.

get leading vision. i haven't listened to gorod a long time myself but i'm willing to bet that, at least leading vision, is still better than a lot of technical death metal.

srsly a huge portion of the worst 'new death metal' is just "normal" death metal and slam n i would kno bcaz i listen 2 94% of the dm released each yr although this new wave of decrepit birth deathcore/tdm clones is getting out of hand

I havn't heard anything in the death metal genre that has come out in the last 5 years that even comes close to 90's era Death, Gorguts, Meshuggah, or Necrophagist.
