Rattlehead 04-01-2006 06:41 AM

how old is he? an he probably could do i in 10 years time, he's not exactly unhealthy. &he's in good shape, so he's fine.

Jev 04-01-2006 06:46 AM

He's 39/40. Couple of years younger than Kirk.

.:Thrasher:. 04-01-2006 07:40 AM
Kirk would be the "hippie" of the band. what with his surfing. rather than "girlie".
Lars would be the artistic and yet argumentative one.
James is "in-your-face", and yet layed back.
Robert, well i dont know enough about him. anyone give a better description?
Lars isint artistic. he buys art and made a couple art pieces from the anger he had with the band

Rattlehead 04-01-2006 08:19 AM

you're missing my point entirely. i don't mean artistic as is he sits and paints all day, i mean he has a right-sided brain, as he says stuff that is meaningful, and has philisophical veiws on stuff etc.

Here's an idea. Lets share with each other what we thought of S&M. List the songs you thought were better on S&M than on their original albums.

I think:

Of Wolf And Man,
The Thing That Should Not Be,
No Leaf Clover + Minus Human (:p),
Bleeding Me,
Hero of the Day,
and The Outlaw Torn.

Anyone got anything to add?

Jev 04-01-2006 09:09 AM

I think they should have put Fade to Black on there instead of Sad But True.

vashts80 04-01-2006 09:46 AM

Outlaw Torn and Bleeding Me were definitely better on S&M. Same with Ktulu and Bells.

Jev 04-01-2006 09:57 AM

I thought For Whom The Bell Tolls really didn't need that orchestra.

Aw3someman 04-01-2006 10:05 AM

Lol it threw Kirk's part in the beginning off by soo much. It sounded weird.

I heard they tried something with f2b but it just didnt work out

Jev 04-01-2006 10:30 AM

That's a shame.

They should have tried harder

metalhead_matt 04-01-2006 10:40 AM

fade to black is my favourite metallica song i think
i liked the sound of call of ktulu on s&m, its was sort of orchestral before the gig anyway

Rattlehead 04-01-2006 11:55 AM

i think CofK is a true masterpiece. and i love james' voice on S&M! he did it totally clean and hit every note, really brilliant. S&M is proof that J hasn't lost his vocal skills at all. well, he could'nt do thrash very well, but vocally he is still brilliant.

Jev 04-01-2006 12:04 PM

Yeah but S&M was 5 years ago now. It was recorded in 2001 right? Or was it 1999?

Rattlehead 04-01-2006 12:05 PM

i don't see how anything significant could have happened to his voice in 5 odd years.

Jev 04-01-2006 12:15 PM

That's almost a quarter of Metallica's career.

Rattlehead 04-01-2006 12:19 PM

good point, i didn't think of it that way. i really cant wait for this new album... the anticipation about what "jurassic metal" is is annoying.

Hourglass 04-01-2006 12:19 PM

its a fifth this is their like 25th year and anything could have happened in five years but I dont think it did

Rattlehead 04-01-2006 12:20 PM

i hope it didn't

Yeah I realised it's 24 years aftere I posted that.

ever eeking always rupert 04-01-2006 05:33 PM

Have you guys seen the new videos of them playing the SA gigs?

PepsiMetal 04-01-2006 06:33 PM

Where can we view the vids?

no i got what you ment by that but i just hate it when people say hes artistic.

lol he doesent use his right side that much.

willis2441 04-02-2006 02:51 AM

lars IMO is a little puto
hes really not that good of a drummer,it took him twenty years to get THAT good?
hes not the best, but his songwriting ability is amazing
him+hetfield+burton+mustaine=orgasim

Rattlehead 04-02-2006 03:52 AM

yeah, sure but he's good enough. and yeah, cliff dying was a major step-down for them. and that is an orgasmic line-up, but equally todays line-up had just as much potential.

It's because he's lazy. I don't think he practices much outside of recording and touring.

Yeah he's just such an annoying person to have in a bnad. But it's too late to change it now.

Jev 04-02-2006 06:57 AM

Yeah. Hopefully the recent non stop touring and recording has helped him improve so there might be some great drumming on the next album.
If it's all simple beats like on The Black Album/Load/Reload I won't be too happy.

Sph 04-02-2006 06:58 AM

He'd probably sue them if they kicked him out.
Yeah but S&M was 5 years ago now. It was recorded in 2001 right? Or was it 1999?
1999.

the beats on those albums are all outstripped by the beats on st. anger. the only thing about the st anger beats that i dont like is the sound. that has to go.
Yeah he's just such an annoying person to have in a bnad. But it's too late to change it now.
not really. he's sound, and he has the character, and the songwriting ability. and he is metallica. and he isn't that bad a drummer. see Battery, Eye Of The Beholder. i'd say that MoP and ajfa were his best drumming albums.
