I doubt it. I've seen so many bad posts in this thread it's pretty embarassing. There are ones like that with terrible grammer and there are ones where the guy can't accept anyone's opinion. For example if I would dare to suggest Lars hit a bad cymbol in one song he would be like "omgzx lars nevr duz anythin he dun wanna!!!"

Mikael Akerfeldt and Devin Townsend keep metal interesting, by being comical instead of full of themselves, and not being complete assbags like Lars usually is. That's not to say that the Danish midget hasn't said some true things, but he's just...usually an assbag.

Lars is a very boring drummer. I like Metallica, but I've always thought that the drumming was the lowerpart of Metallica.

I'd give specific examples of better drummers, but I'll just say, "I agree."

I'ld agree with Metallica needing to add solos and what not but what's the big deal about them? I can enjoy music without solos. I don't feel that they HAVE to have a solo just put them where they are needed to serve the song.

No, not every song needs a solo. But I think that St. Anger could have used a solo or two or three.... maybe four.

Yeah I could have seen some solos on songs like SKoM, etc.

I like Hammett's wah tone but I hope he lays back a little on this next album. I wouldn't mind wah but not on everything.

That would be excellent. One thing I really didn't like about the St. Anger album was that it was a home recording. The tone in all of their other albums is good, but the St. Anger recordings sounded like their mics were broken or their amps or something.

And no solos. Problem.

I think that out of tunness and sounding like a garage band with good production was the idea though.

It would have been a good idea in a few songs, but I think for a whole album in a band that was going downhill didn't help. I can't wait until the next album comes out. Any new news? There's nothing on Metallica.com

I love Claypool to death. He can do anything with those enormous hands.

I think St. Anger's biggest problem is it was too repetitive. It was usually same verse riff, same chorus riff, and structure was like verse1, chorus1, verse2, chorus2, verse3, etc... And just about every song had a drum intro. Sweet Amber was the best song that was least repetitive to me. Would be nice if Sweet Amber had an interlude somewhere, and then there was a nice slower solo there. It would make the song soo much better.

Maybe the guys were rushed and thought "hey we'll use the same structure on every song"?

I thought that some of the riffs were really good, its just that they didnt implement them that well. The snare sound never bothered me, believe it or not. The out of tune singing is one of my only major complaints.

I dont hate St Anger, but I dont love it either.

I'd like to see them whip out an awesome thrash album again and show everyone they are still capable.:thumb:

As long as they are still a band and making albums, there is always hope. Sure its likely not to happen, but hey, you never know.:thumb:

Who knows what the new album will bring. It could be super badass and wow a lot of listeners.

The drumming on AJFA being better than RTL or MoP isn't nonsense. I think he's right.

The Ironic thing is that I think that St. Anger is one of Metallica's best selling albums. I think that as they have become more of a household name they have lost their "grass roots" that they had previously. Plus James voice is probably starting to go. I'm doubtful but hopful about the next release.

He did use a lot more double bass on AJFA, and he played probably Metallica's hardest drumming song (Dyer's Eve), which he can't even play today.

Actually I think it outsold Garage Inc and Reload but the rest have sold much more. Then again it's only been out 3 years.

The Black Album has sold the most, but I think BMM is right. St. Anger hit #1 on the charts because everyone I think thought it would be amazing. I'm hopeful about the next album because I've heard recent live performances and his voice sounds a ton better.

he didnt play it, session musician did it for the recordin, lars couldnt do it

I'd find out how much it sold but nowhere on the internet has up to date sales figures :angry:
