If you're behind a router its pretty easy to forward your ports. You should be doing this for soulseek already if you are.

Uploading your own CDs is the only way to boost your ratio somewhat quickly. Also ripping stuff in high quality/lossless formats helps a lot too. An album ripped with into flac can be several hundred megs and people on there are nuts for high quality stuff.[/QUOTE]
My router's weird. I have the port forwarding set up properly, but it still doesn't work. The torrent client is allowed through my firewall, and I was never able to figure any other solution to it. I tend to manage very little uploading even without being clever to a few people, and it's gets my ratio above 0, but it's not enough to maintain access if I go above 5GB of d/l's.

Only if you're using big services and major torrents (new releases). Stick to private sites and if you school has its own p2p use that.
