I haven't heard much about the Towson radio station so I can't say. I like about 30-40 minutes from there though.
I'm doing fine at school, but i went through a stage of just not going because it was so pointless. I was literally staying at home and doing all the work i got set in a day in an hour or two, and i was just ridiculously angry. I'm still getting A's though, but he doesn't care, so i'm gonna pack it in for a year.
How much longer do you legally have to go to school? Or are you technically finished with it? European schools differ greatly from American schools. Anyway...I don't care for Lamb of God. So I got into an arguement with this guy about why I dislike them, and I mentioned that their music was too simplistic for me. He sent me Hourglass (which he described as very, very hard) over a board and told me to learn it since I thought it was so easy, so now I'm forced to learn a song I don't like. Luckily it's an easy song. /random |
Unlucky, its a shame that LoG suck so much arse.
I can legally leave school now anyway, im doing A-Levels. |
Then it's not a really big deal if you quit going is it? Obviously, any additional education you can get will be beneficial, but if there are so many issues surrounding it, maybe it's best if you stop going.

Well it's still a big deal about the whole relationship they've got, that really bites.
I haven't heard much about the Towson radio station so I can't say. I like about 30-40 minutes from there though.
Same, but some of my uncles listen to it all the time. |

I'm going to continue my education next year once its chilled out, plus i will have savings so it'll be ok. I'm not a guy that spends lots of money for no reason, so it's cool. |

That sucks, quite a bit. Be sure it's what you want to do before you do it, though..I think you'd be surprised at how hard it'd be to just take a year out and go back into it (as opposed to extending it by just one more year..just one more year..just one more year..etc). |
So, I dont post here much(at all) but I used to post in the old one and I was wondering what avatar is better the clown or the ninja turtle.
I will change to the ninja turtle in 10 min. |
Yeh, i've been thinking about it for a while. I don't think i'd have to much trouble getting back into it, considering that out of the subjects i'm doing (English Lit, Computing, History, Physics), English and Computing are around me constantly anyway.

Physics, eh? In college I'm planning on majoring in a few different things, but I haven't choosen yet. One is physics, along with music, political science, accounting, broadcasting, sports management, and a few other really random things Edit: So I killed the thread NP: Sonata Arctica - Black Sheep. This is a great song!!! |
I don't usually come in here, but I have to ask...
Does anybody know who this guy is? (myspace link) He's sent friend requests to me, bobo, and from the looks of his comments Kingofdudes also. |
I don't know him, but he looks like a weirdo.

Well I don't so much mean getting back into the subjects, just removing yourself from "real" life back into full-time education. |
Indeed. The one thing that kept me from taking a year off of Uni is the fact I'd have to get back into it, and I think that's probably one of the hardest transitions you can make.

Is he going to see the Red Paintings now, or are you just randomly high fiving about the fact that you're getting to see them in the near future?
In other news, there are people abseiling down the side of my building. |

Hey folks.
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10023316&postcount=26447 This is the kind of crap we have to deal with. |

I will most likely take a year off. Now I'm scared :'( |
/\/\great avatar BTW. :D
Yeah, I think it's much easier To go straight to Uni, not do the year out thing |
On the other hand, my old English teacher took a year out whenever the opportunity presented itself - in between sixth form and university, in between finishing her degree course and going on to teacher training thingy, in between attaining her teacher training thingy and actually starting work - and she turned out fine. Swore by it, in fact.
|
Well i just woke up as its a Teacher Training day, so no school for Joe. My mates are coming over in about half an hour to make a really big pie. Should be fun.
|
Savoury or sweet?
|
Savoury, its gonna have alot of meat in it.

I dunno, I kinda like me some pecan pie...

In regards to "taking a year off" and all that other discussion:
I don't know what I'd do with myself if I took a year off of school. I already had the work ethic from high school, it's just magnified and multiplied at the university level. Had I taken a year off, I would have felt swamped because I would have found it impossible to "get back into the swing of things." Sure, you can work, but I doubt one will find a 9-5 job. I'd be such a bum, just sit around all day after work and not do anything. In Joe's case, though, it sounds like his band is going places. I play music alone for fun/recreation/enjoyment/what have you. I don't think I could join a band, because I would cite stereotypical "different creative interests" shpeal with my supposed bandmates. If the opportunity arises, I'd imagine he'd take it. Basically, I would rather just keep going to school, because all I'm going to be doing is researching, writing, and all that stuff until I retire, so I might as well attempt to excel at it now. |
We have an audition for next years Endiburough Festival in a week or two, so if we ace that (which we probably will), we're on easy street to getting an indie label deal.
And Jom : All of my band have very different music tastes. I'm obviously abit of a Death Head, where as my drummer loves Punk/Pop-Punk in the vein off The Offspring and AFI, and is an A7X whore, where as the other guitarist is really into experimental indie stuff (Mody Lemon, Acoustic Ladyland). All of the different genres enhance the music. |
