I want teh link aswell.

My favourite Jazz is Charles Mingus.
Ahhhh me too. I like him more than Davis for sure. He hired some good soloists for his records.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-12-2005 10:06 PM

I still can't get into Mingus but I have gained faith with Charlie Parker so who's still to say I'll never dig him.

John Coltrane = Miles Davis > All

The link should have gotton to everyone tell me if I missed you.

Deus, did you send out the link yet? Is it in m4a or mp3?

Krabsworth 11-12-2005 10:07 PM
It was the heroin talking.

Schyma, I'll take that also please.

NP: While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
Hah. But I don't think so. There are alot of jazzers out there that over did or over do it.

Woodstock 11-12-2005 10:38 PM

My address is hungryfreak843@yahoo.com.

You need The Black Saint & The Sinner Lady. It will completely change your opinion on Mingus.

There's a lot of truth to that statement.

I sent it out, mp3 format. If you didn't get the email, let me know, and I'll send it to you again.

I tried Mingus Ah Um before, and I didn't like it. Maybe I'll try the one you mentioned.

My favorite jazz guys are Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and John Coltrane. I think I should try out Eric Dolphy again too.

Woodstock 11-12-2005 10:48 PM

I think I sent out that Mingus album awhile ago.

Coltrane, as I said, played too many notes. Miles is very good, but not better than everyone else.

magicbus 11-12-2005 11:46 PM

Schyma, I just sent it out to you.

A Love Supreme is quite possibly the greatest music ever recorded I just don't know how you could feel that way. Oh well to each as own.

I just find his endless arpeggios a bit too much, and annoying.

Sent the album to you. And yes, A Love Supreme is amazing.

Krabsman, I'm beginning to get the sense that you hate all fast music. No shred, no Coltrane... it's interesting.

NP: Rachmaninov's third piano concerto. <3

I stand corrected.

The VU are meh for me. If I'm in the mood, they're great. Otherwise, they're really take it or leave it.

Leper 11-13-2005 01:00 AM

'Twas an awesome day for me, as I got a new cellphone, and found Yes- Close to the Edge and The Doors- Strange Days for $8 each.

JonG 11-13-2005 01:02 AM

Nice, Strange Days is awesome.

Ya, it's a great album. I also found Waiting for the Sun but I already have it on vinyl. I can't wait to listen to Close to the Edge though.

maybe you like fast music and just not fast playing? im not understanding. coltrane is one of the greatest musicians ever. if you pay attention, the chord changes and shifts under his "endless arpeggios" are quite complex.

what fast music do you like?

Broken Arrow 11-13-2005 10:21 AM

Hmmm, I seemed to like Giant Steps better than A Love Supreme. I also liked Mingus Ah Um better.

I don't care how complex it is, I just don't like Coltrane too much.

I can't think of any off the bat, but I do like fast music.

robo2448 11-13-2005 12:54 PM

Scyma thanks for the Miles Smiles. I'm gonna listen to it soon.

Hey Joe is just such an awesome song. Definitely one of my 5 favorite Hendrix songs.

Bus 11-13-2005 12:57 PM

I'm also listening to the Miles Smiles right now. It's pretty awesome.

I got banned for clicking a hack link
