Heh, my KKV (which i now regret buying, it sounds crap now) was supposed to be for my birthday last year but everyday I came home before my parents and played it.
How long did you get to play with it before your Birthday ? I love the feeling of going into a music store and knowing that your walking out with a new guitar. |

actually, its weird first, my girl was cool with it. Then, she was against the idea totally. Then, she re-thought what she said. "come to think of it, that is a pretty selfish of me" my friend, i call "fat-neck" came over and started talking sh!t. He mentioned the fact that SHE wasnt getting hers yet, and fukking ruined the WHOLE thing for me.. good friend huh?! It must have given me a 1st degree burn on my inner thigh. I was bummed out all day at work, and decided a trip to guitar center would cheer me up. Man, i had no idea what i was getting myself into |

I finally finished school for now, had my last lecture down at the ol' Uni. My girlfriend got me a present, which is bound to be a CD and I don't feel like waiting another two days for it, I'll beg her to give it sooner.

So, now that I have some more free time I decided to give Sputnik a chance and have these questions:
Is there a page where I can see the reviewers rankings? Are demo reviews allowed? As far as the news submission is concerned, can I copy/paste text and provide the source or do I have to wirte it in my own words? Since there are no many reviews to make a seperate genre, where can I see progressive or doom reviews? Thank you! |

Good morning mx. This has certainly been a fateful day for me.
I've just been diagnosed with depression. :( I'm now awaiting meds and a therapist.
Not anymore, it got taken away as people were getting stupidly competitive about it. From memory, br3ad_man is first, Eliminator Jr. is 3rd, I'm 4th and Iai is fifth. ShadowsFallen, ::Entwistle::, Jom, Spat Out Plath, Rudd13, Scott Herren and Robert Crumb are high up as well.
Those rankings are wrong. Either the site needs updating or the rankings are figured in some weird way, but there's no way in hell Eliminator should be at 2. I've got more reviews and a higher voting percentage and I'm way back at 7. I would like to see Stoic around there though. :) |

It runs in the family.
Heh, I'm very much opposed against diagnosing patients with depression at such a young age. A lot of teenagers think they are depressed, when it's just hormones, most teenagers I know are very, well... sad. But since it runs in the family, I suppose you could be a genuine case, although you didn't really strike me as a depressed person, but then again, what's the internet? The fact they're immediately putting on you drugs worries me though, I know people who take drugs against depression and they're horrible, they help, but if you stop taking them, you feel even worse than before, plus a lot of them damage your organs or what not. They just work on the symptoms, not the cause, anyway. I don't see why they can't start out with therapy first, it's a much healthier way to fight it, I think. :\ Jeez, sorry, I rambled on for three paragraphs, hey, that's what you get for bringing it up, I'm just worried about you, little Ben. Drugs mess you up. :(
I don't mind Jelle, it's good to know you care. I didn't think I was depressed, but my parents did. I thought I was just going through a tough time emotionally and that most teenagers expeience the same thing. But my parents say that lately I've had a major personality change. Apparently I'm really moody, extremely anti-social, I don't feel like doing things I usually love, and I'm eating much less. I was opposed to this whole situation, but they forced me to go see a doctor, and the doctor agreed with them. I figured it was bound to happen because it's rampant in my family. Every single person on my dad's side of the family has it, and both of my brothers have it, one of whom was suicidal for a while. After having two other kids who went through the same thing my parents were watching me to see if I would show the same symptoms as them, and now it seems like I am. I'm sure most around here wouldn't have noticed that, but this is the internet. I'd rather take the drugs and leave the therapy for later. I know that talking things out would be healthier, but I'm very uncomfortable talking to people about personal stuff like what my emotions have been up to. This particular drug I'm on is supposedly amazing, since my mom took it and it cured her almost entirely (although she didn't have full depression). One thing that does worry me is that it has side effects unique to teenagers. Apprently once I start taking it I may start to feel much much worse before I get better, and even though I wasn't considering hurting myself before, this drug may bring on those feelings before I start to feel better. Sorry about this, I rambled on even longer then you, haha. I don't deny that something may be wrong but this whole situation makes me very uncomfortable. I just took my first pill, so I'll see what happens from here. :( |
Fair point.

The fact that you say "apparently I'm this and that" leads me to believe that you don't realise it and that you don't feel depressed. So I ask myself, why go to the doctor when you don't feel sick/bad/whatever. Maybe, and I'm saying maybe, because of the fact that your brothers have it and so many of your relatives have it, your parents are making a bigger deal out of what you do than is necessary. Naturally, if the doctor hears those symptoms, he's inclined to agree, but he can't look inside your head. Heh, you know, I really don't trust doctors, their favourite thing to say is "You're depressed" and "It's because of stress". Example: My grandmother complained to her doctors about a severe headache, and the doctors said that it was due to too much stress and she needed to relax. Turns out she had a huge tumor in her head. I really don't like doctors much. But really now, maybe it's a genuine depression, but maybe it's "teen angst" or what should we call it. When I was your age, I felt miserable most of the time, but I know now that that wasn't a real depression. But what if it is just teenager problems? Then you're taking pills for no reason, with the chance of feeling a lot worse! So why take that chance, if you're not even feeling (that) depressed. But then again, it's none of my business and I don't mean to upset you even more, I'm just saying, don't buy everything the doctor/your parents say and watch out with them medicines, lil Ben.
I always thought that denial was a part of these things. I was sure that I didn't have it, but my parents seemed to be really sensetive to the symptoms. I don't know if they're overreacting or if they really see something I don't, but I knew that the doctor was going to agree when he (it's actually a she) heard the symptoms. By describing it it sounds like a classic case of depression, but it's entirely possible it could be "teen angst" or something like that. It's alright, I don't find this upsetting. I'll probably always be skeptical because depression seems like a disgnosis that is thrown around very often, probably when it shouldn't be. But I think with the regular visits to the doctor and going to talk to someone I'll be watched pretty carefully, so I'll be alright Big Jelle. :) Oh, that Ben. :p |
