it only gets better

kingsoby1 01-18-2009 12:33 AM

i cant believe gift of gab even associated himself with the mighty underdogs. that record is such crap compared to this.

Jaded 01-18-2009 01:40 AM

the gift of gab's style bugs the hell out of me. he's talented, no doubt about that, but it's just too fast and goofy sounding for me. I used to like it, who knows maybe my tastes will change again.

Anyway, I just found an album on my ipod i didn't know I had, "the last shall be the first" by the Sunz of Man. It's pretty f-ing cool, def one of my fav wu-tang affiliated albums, mostly because of how different the production is. It's still minimal as hell, with 4th disciple and true master making the majority of the beats, but lighter than I'd expect from a wu-tang affiliated group. You guys heard this one?

hearing oh no on tv wtffFfff

kingsoby1 01-20-2009 01:24 PM

alright, im done with dalek i think. i liked gutter tactics for a couple listens, but im really annoyed now.

Time 01-20-2009 01:53 PM

he sounds better on Absence

kingsoby1 01-20-2009 02:08 PM

yeah definitely, that's their only solid release imo... too bad it's a start to a gradual decline.

switched 01-20-2009 05:03 PM

absence is boring

ok lateralus 01-20-2009 05:24 PM

Abandoned Language is dalek's best. total masterpiece imo. I like all of their releases tho, gutter tactics is probably the least of them.

Rams 01-20-2009 05:24 PM

Insight is one of the best rappers out there. Just no one knows him.

Shinsight Trio
Soloplexus
Y-Society
and his solo stuff are all dope.

kingsoby1 01-20-2009 05:31 PM

how do you find out about all this stuff... underground hiphop blogs or something? im intrigued, cause i haven't really tapped the blogosphere much, except for searching for download links.

badtaste 01-25-2009 07:21 AM

Dayumn, three songs into Ghostface's 'Fishscale' and I'm already enjoying it more than 'Ironman'.

Insight is a local in a Boston.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk5efSLDUEY
Soloplexus was Insight taking on 6 different personalities, and some tracks featuring himself. He also did all the beats on it. Either this or "Me Her" is my favorite track off the album.

schiggy 01-25-2009 10:48 AM

do they have a myspace?

ok lateralus 01-25-2009 03:29 PM
recomend some songs please?
sure. check out "classical homicide," "paragraphs relentless," "culture for dollars," "trampled brethren" and "2012 (the pillage)."

Probably because those first three tracks are possibly the best start to any hip hop album. the whole album is amazing, though.

really getting into The Preface, it might be better than Tronic. BM's production is so awesome, Im such a sucker for vocal soul samples

kingsoby1 01-26-2009 09:10 AM

i dont know, i think the preface was his warm up round more than anything. tronic is so ridiculous. both are awesome, but tronic is my favorite.

pixiesfanyo 01-26-2009 07:26 PM

his joints on the invincible record are awesome.

kingsoby1 01-26-2009 08:18 PM

man, i really need to get that platinum pied pipers review out. the flu's been telling me to sit around and watch the office instead. that album is pretty much awesome, ghost of aveiro ftw

schiggy 01-27-2009 03:08 PM

i don't know how you guys feel about lil waynes new song "prom queen" but it is the teshiznit. and stuff.

I just can't get into it in any real way. Definitely a record I appreciate but it's never going to actually mean anything to me.

kingsoby1 01-27-2009 06:48 PM

i dont think it'll ever be a 5/5 for me by any means, but i love it nonetheless. i really can't wait until Janelle Monae finishes up her metropolis project... the chase suite was easily one of the best neo-soul recordings i've ever heard.

ATM 01-27-2009 10:21 PM

I hosted my first hip hop show, you guys should check it out. Had live performances from Ardamus, Tyrone from Rosetta Stoned, and The Five One.

Ill be hosting concerts every Sunday night starting February 22nd.

looks pretty bad ass i'll look into it.

ATM 01-27-2009 10:25 PM

Nice, thanks man. It was a little bumpy because it was the first concert I've hosted on the air haha

schiggy 01-27-2009 10:28 PM

np. room you are in looks really small...

RunAmokRampant 01-27-2009 11:11 PM

Listening to Pasobionic's Empty Beats for Lonely Rappers. Very cool. So cool I reviewed his album the other day.

And also listening to TZU's Computer Love, which is also very cool.

Jaded 01-27-2009 11:28 PM

Black milk's rapping is meh. He's like a slighter better version of kanye. His beats are dope though.

pixiesfanyo 01-27-2009 11:38 PM

Elzhi is way more Kanye sounding than Milk.

Milk is a good rapper. he isn't anything special but he is good.

Jaded 01-27-2009 11:49 PM

you think so? I like elzhi, his style is a lot more dynamic and interesting to me than black milk. I guess they both got a kanyeish vibe, but bm makes me think of "flashing lights" every time I hear him.

pixiesfanyo 01-27-2009 11:55 PM

just how Elzhi sounds.

Jaded 01-28-2009 12:21 AM

You have any suggestions for new artists that aren't kanye clones? I'm sick of the whole rapping lazily behind the beat thing, even Buckshot's doing it these days.

kingsoby1 01-28-2009 12:27 AM

POS... his new joint "Never Better" comes out on the 3rd. i got the pre-release, and it's really tight... some of the most unique stuff ive heard recently.
