Shadows 09-19-2005 04:53 PM
really? what do you use it for then?
...speaking? Just a crazy thought.

dest. Chaos 09-19-2005 04:53 PM
I dont get you.
when do you use the word "perkele"? Have you seen Trashed & Lost in Helsinki. when they're on Lake bodom and playing with this spinning thing. when it goes really fast Alexi shouts: PERKELE!!!!!!

Squirrel 09-19-2005 04:54 PM

Whenever I want to or its needed ?

You seem to be confused.

I'm saying its not a swearword and its not offensive ..

maybe the definition of swearwords are different from country to country. evereythin which means something bad in the bible is defined as a swearword in Sweden. ex. satan, demon, devil and such stuff. though it's a bit.. old-fashioned to say such things. most common swearwords are: cunt, damn, hell

Squirrel 09-19-2005 05:03 PM

Well in Finnish, its not.

dest. Chaos 09-19-2005 05:06 PM
Well in Finnish, its not.
what's some swearwords in finnish then? is vittu a swearword?

IheartSP 09-19-2005 05:11 PM

In the US damn and hell aren't really swearwords, and satan isn't really even close to ones. Even shit is said on cable tv now.

Squirrel 09-19-2005 05:14 PM
what's some swearwords in finnish then? is vittu a swearword?
Erm .. yes.

dest. Chaos 09-19-2005 05:16 PM
In the US damn and hell aren't really swearwords, and satan isn't really even close to ones. Even shit is said on cable tv now.
urm yes... swearwords are kind of... very common on TV. And isn't damn a swearword in the US???

dest. Chaos 09-19-2005 05:26 PM

In sweden swearwords are mostly used to strengthen the meaning of sentences. you see? ex. "damn! that band owns!" hum now this got got even more complicated cos when you think like this. when they say "vittu" in Trashed & lost in helsinki they translate it to "fuck". damn means "fan" in swedish but We use the word "fan" the same way you use fuck.. kind of....COMPLEX. Language problems.....

Squirrel 09-19-2005 05:27 PM

Cant understand what the hell youre on about.

dest. Chaos 09-19-2005 05:31 PM
Cant understand what the hell youre on about.
ex. vittu means cunt. but they translate it as fuck.... it means something... but it isn't used like that. it's used like fuck but it means cunt.........

blue3 09-19-2005 11:14 PM

Right, okay.

metalhead_matt 09-20-2005 02:22 AM

Maybe Lake Bodom or Bed of Razors.

Follow The Reaper. It's easy, it's catchy, and it's fun.

EDIT: If THEY played it, Kissing The Shadows. :p

dest. Chaos 09-20-2005 02:39 PM

Kissing the Shadows..
Not really.
for what iv seen by them.

metalhead_matt 09-20-2005 02:59 PM

well I play rhythm, do some solos, and I sing, but id be getting someone else to sing, coz I really cant sing like Alexi :( so what songs would you suggest, that have some good lead parts, and not-impossoble solos?

MRDuCran 09-20-2005 03:01 PM

The only person that knows your full ability is you. Why don't you just go and listen to them yourself and ask, "could I play this?" If the answer is yes, write it down, if it's no, skip it, it's not hard.

Shadows 09-20-2005 03:03 PM

Just shoot for Bed of Razors and work your way up.

IheartSP 09-20-2005 03:29 PM

Yes Squirrel we all know Kalmah and Sentenced are better but you can't deny Alexi is a good guitarist. Whether there are a million better or not, it doesn't make those solos any easier.

Shadows 09-20-2005 03:39 PM

There's no way Kalmah is better than CoB.

flamesofbodom 09-20-2005 04:09 PM

They are awesome, but not better

Shadows 09-20-2005 04:15 PM

I heard one song and thought it was terrible. :( disappointing, as everyone always tells me how amazing the song was.

blue3 09-20-2005 04:21 PM

What song was it

flamesofbodom 09-20-2005 04:21 PM

Kalmah's songs are all incredible...that ive heard

Shadows 09-20-2005 04:22 PM
What song was it
Heroes to Us

Shadows 09-20-2005 04:24 PM
Yeah thats not a very good song try Silent Night Bodom Night my personal fav :p
We're talking about Kalmah, not CoB. CoB has no song by that name.

IheartSP 09-20-2005 04:24 PM

I wasn't speaking my mind, I was just stating what Squirrel usually says in response to any comment about Bodom. Usually the initial reaction is a diss Alexi's skills or a Kalmah is better remark :p.

blue3 09-20-2005 04:36 PM
Heroes to Us
I've heard of that song. I liked it.

Shattered_Future 09-20-2005 04:53 PM

I really like Kalmah, probably on par with Bodom, but for different reasons.

Bodom has the technical department. Alexi's solos are mindblowing at times, and usually just all around brilliant.

Kalmah has the songwriting department down. They have brilliant, melodic riffage, great drums, good use of keys...and a better vocalist to boot. He can hit low notes as well. :p

IheartSP 09-20-2005 05:46 PM

I think Bodom are far superior songwriters to Kalmah, and that is most of the reason why they are so much popular. I like Kalmah but there really is no comparison in my mind. Same case with Norther, it's similar but changed a little but, but just doesn't add up to what Bodom's got.

I've never herad anyone mention them here but Mourn In Silence is a more Powermetally/symphonic version of Bodom, and I think they are on par with Kalmah and Norther. Imperanon and Skyfire fall short of even them.

I think Wintersun is the only real contender with Bodom, and they are almost too different to really compare. If Wintersun's next album is anything like the first, I'll have to say they are better than Bodom, the first album was better than either Hatebreeder or FTR imo.

Thor 09-20-2005 05:48 PM
Come on man, the boys in COB pump out some quality solos, I really like the one on Kissing the Shadows actually.
Kissing the Shadows has a great solo, but my favorite solo has to be the intro to Red Light In My Eyes Pt. 2 (at least at the moment.)
