Am I the only one who thought Risk was pretty cool? Certainly not the old Megadeth, but it was a nice little change. Did you happen to catch TSHF? Kick *** album, not to mention everything post CTE was recorded while Dave was clean. Youthanasia has "awesome" written all over it. Bands don't need heroin to write good music.
That is true, if your talented you'll write good music either way. But at the same time, seem to write even better stuff while on some sort of substance. I think Metallica is a classic example. |
you, clairvoyant person
Dave was only good when he was on some kinda hallucinogen thats why risk sucked so much thats when he did his 12 steps to jesus bull**** jesus sux
Risk was a good cd. It wasnt Peace Sells...But Who's Buying, but it was a really good album. Also, saying Dave was only good when he was on hallucinogens is stupid and ignorant. |
I just started listening to Megadeth. What are some good songs to familiarize myself with them to see if I like them?

Songs from Rust In Peace are a good place to start. |
Songs from Rust In Peace are a good place to start.
Can I have some specific songs? |
Off Rust In Peace:
Holy Wars...The Punishment Due Hangar 18 Tornado Of Souls Off Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? Wake Up Dead The Conjuring Peace Sells And of course Ashes In Your Mouth off of Countdown To Extinction good songs to start with |
Yep, clairvoyant is right on track with that list.
He was a major drug addict for a long time. He was smoking dope at the age of 15, and taking hard drugs by the time of KIMB. I think from SFSGSW until CTE he was a heroin addict.
I think he was definetly a heroin addict before that, I think the first time he tried it was when recording KIMB... cause it was Chris Poland and/or Gar Samuelson who got him into that. And then he was doing speedballs also which is a mixture of heroin and cocaine (a pretty deadly one too). |
Thanks, I'm downloading all those songs. Would Rust in Piece be a good first album if I decide to buy one?

Yeah I think I can speak on behalf of most of the people in this thread when I say it's their best album. |

Youthanasia is my fav album. I also know Deathcult666, he is wasting his time trying to get banned in the punk forum. |
by the way the 666 guy themadhatter is talking about is not me, that is deathcult666.

I believe Dave was clean for RIP?
|
Well I know he was at least incredibly drunk during its recording.
|
Will Megadeth be recording new stuff in the next year or so?
They better  since Dave is still such a great songwriter. |
Will Megadeth be recording new stuff in the next year or so?
Well I know he was at least incredibly drunk during its recording.
I don't understand how muscians can play that well when they're drunk or on heroin. |

Yeah, heh forgot to clarify, sorry! Dave seems pretty happy with his lineup right now, so I think there's a small chance of an album in the future. I think Gigantour sparked his interest in just doing his own thing at his own pace rather than being pushed into CDs 'cause of a contract. He's been talking about a solo album for awhile now too. |
Whats with the strange vocals on Sweating Bullets? Is it supposed to be some sort of character or a joke or something?
|
Thanks, I'm downloading all those songs. Would Rust in Piece be a good first album if I decide to buy one?
Oh god yes. Take No Prisoners is my favorite track off RIP, which is my favorite album. Imo, download both Holy Wars and Take No Prisoners to get a feel for what the CD is all about. My first CD was Countdown To Extinction, and I didn't know any of the really thrashy stuff from them so I didn't like RIP much the first time I heard it. The second time on the other hand... Best metal album ever written as far as I'm concerned. |
I don't understand how muscians can play that well when they're drunk or on heroin.
Yeah me neither. I tried playing guitar drunk. It didn't work out to well. |
Whats with the strange vocals on Sweating Bullets? Is it supposed to be some sort of character or a joke or something?
I hated Sweating Bullets the first time I heard it too. Over rated and not all that interesting. Though, it's a song that really grows on you once you become accustomed to Dave's voice (It's an aquired taste). |

I've tried it drunk and stoned, both were disastorous. |

Yeah I did think his voice was strange when I first heard them. The first song I heard was Take No Prisoners. What changes have been made to the vocals on this track? |
What changes have been made to the vocals on this track?
On the remasters? The vocals on the remastered version are ****ing horrible. The original is a masterpiece. |
Whats with the strange vocals on Sweating Bullets? Is it supposed to be some sort of character or a joke or something?
Well is about two personalities, so it's supossed to be overacted, but there isn't many differences between SB vocals and the rest of the songs. |
On the remasters? The vocals on the remastered version are ****ing horrible. The original is a masterpiece.
Why did he redo it? How can I get a copy of the original? |
Try some filesharing programs for the originals. They are way better.
|

Are the vocals different on all the remasters? |
I personally hate Sweating Bullets. I can't stand it unless its played live.
|
Are the vocals different on all the remasters?
Not really. There are supposed to be some differences on the Rust In Peace remaster, but I've only heard one track off that one. It sounds worse than the original though. I have the original on Soulseek if you're interested. Username is Kreator |

Yeah, they brutally raped that song. |

It's probably because you have to wait in line. |

I've never liked Metallica that much, but from what I've heard of them, I like Megadeth. |

Master of Puppets is a great album, but Dave takes credit for writing most of that album, along with Kill 'Em All. But eh, who knows. |
