That's a top list sir.
|
Mastodon
ZZ Top Ponys David Kilgour Saw Nick Cave a couple days ago, 'twas bahrilliant. |
the diggage:
Nick Drake - Bryter Layter |
Digging the Cure. Pornography is SUCH a good album, I never give it enough credit, but it's brilliant. I mean, it's overwhelming and depressing and angry, but in an awesome way.
|
Comets on Fire
and Six Organs of Admittance |
And now I'm digging X because I just remembered that they are bone meltingly fantastic and I love them.
|
I was disappointed by Rocket From the Crypt. Darn.
|
I've just been really digging on Hot Snakes, and that in turn got me listening to Drive Like Jehu more, and also piqued my interest in Rocket From The Crypt. So I downloaded some.
|
I never liked Rocket From The Crypt.
|
Iced Earth
Sonic Youth Radiohead |
The Standard - Wire Post to Wire
... but I plan on heading out to the record store in a lil bit so you can expect something new this afternoon. |
I got this unbelievable recording of Gershwin stuff called "Earl Wild Plays His Transcriptions of Gershwin." My mom was listening to it in the shower this morning, and when she came out she was all "did I turn you on to this album yet?" And told me a story about how my grandpa knew the pianist at Juilliard and how he was totally insane and spent entire days in the practice room leaving only to go pee. It should hopefully be on the YouSendIt thread soon.

M.I.A./Diplo - Piracy Funds Terrorism Vol.1
This mixtape makes you want to shake your booty. Her LP is a masterpiece, but this rare gem is a vital recording of a different sort. |
ı've recently bought;
Joshua Redman - Wish Pat Metheny Group - Speaking of Now Nils Petter Molvaer - Khmer Pierre Boulez - Domaines I'm going through a jazz/classical phase. Berg, Debussy, Messiaen and Boulez are constantly on repeat, so is a lot of jazz, mostly guitar based. Also, I'm addicted to The Smashing Pumpkins. They grew on me a lot. |
I'm giving Perverted Monks by Afu-Ra my first listen now. He's a good rapper.
|
I heard "Hope There's Someone" by Antony & The Johnsons the other day and quite frankly, I wasn't very impressed at all. Am I missing the point or did I hear a bad song?
|
Saw Nick Cave a couple days ago, 'twas bahrilliant.
Ahhhh, me too. What a great experience. |
Yeah, his voice is definitely unique. I think that may be where I had some issues. I'll give him another listen.
|
Porcupine Tree...uh...all of it. I'm burning the discography to listen to at work tomorrow.
|
Two words: Beck-Guero
|
American Music Club - Everclear
This is such a great, great album.
Yes! It is! One of the best albums of the 90s. They deserve a lot more love than they get. |
Yes! It is! One of the best albums of the 90s. They deserve a lot more love than they get.
Most definitely. American Music Club is brilliant. Actually my record store pickups were in a similar vein as AMC... Mark Kozelek - Rock 'N' Roll Singer ($0.99 Used!) Early Day Miners - All Harm Ends Here |
I'm trying to get that American Music Club album. I can't find it anywhere. I've been looking since Tomahawk went all "Iai with Afghan Whigs".
|
haha! Yeah well it deserves my fanboyness. I'll upload it in the yousendit thread.
|
Thank you very much.
|
Afghan Whigs are hot secks.
'Specially Be Sweet. |
Today I've been digging:
The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? (totally obsessed with this album since someone uploaded in on the YSI thread a few days ago - whoever that was - thankyou :thumb: ) The Books - Lost And Safe (same as above) Bob Marley - some Bob Marley tribute compilation tape that my dad recorded off the radio ages ago Luther Vandross - Songs Idlewild - Captain EP Iron And Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - Let Love In (gave it another chance after dismissing Cave & The Seeds due to not properly listening to 'The Best Of' - and now love it) I've listened to quite alot today. |
I heard Slowdive - Souvlaki for the first time today.
I also gave The Avalanches another chance. Still not digging their album as much as I want to. |
Ted Leo & the Pharmacists
Lamb Deftones |
Lamb kick serious ***.
I have been listening to New Wet Kojak and just got my grimy hands on some DJ Krush which will probably need to be played a few times in the near future. |
Black Mountain
M. Ward |
M. Sord is so much cooler than M. Ward. Even though I've never heard M. Ward, and M. Sord is just some crazy drummer from Kalamazoo that has come up here to play a couple times.
|
Strung Out - An American Paradox
Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose The Vandals - Hitler Bad, Vandals Good Trail of Dead - Worlds Apart |
They are of course not new by the way
I've been checking out The Flaming Lips lately. I don't know to much by them but here are my favorite songs, out of what I do know. Turn it on She Don't use Jelly Plastic Jesus Pilot can at the Queer of God Fight Test Do you Relise? Mostly from Transmissions from the Satellite Heart
I saw them at Lollapalooza in...94?? I feel old |
Strung Out - An American Paradox
Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose The Vandals - Hitler Bad, Vandals Good Trail of Dead - Worlds Apart
That's the first list of bands you've ever posted in which I know every single band. >_< |
Hehe:) I'm sorta on a pop-punk binge right now.
|
Bleu cheese.
|
Daggage as Follows:
Matching Mole - Self Titled Blur - Parklife Black Eyes - Cough The Pop Group - Self Titled |
I dig them, they're a Post Punk band with a Dub producer and influences. "They lose rythmn just as easily as they find it." - thanks allmusic.
|
Still the same stuff:
Ryan Adams - Cold Roses David Bowie - Low Pinback - Summer In Abaddon The Faint - Wet From Birth |
