Remember those jazz recordings I put up about a month ago?
Yeah, I got the audition.

Bah, I've been writing out the charts for this band I could be playing for for like 3 hours non-stop!!

I would write out quickie/cheat sheets but they want me to play exactly the same as the recordings so I pretty much have to do full transcriptions! I have to learn like a whole albums worth too :(

How good are they with music? At lot of the time, other musicians won't notice if you don't play the odd splash or buzzed note...

when it comes to me and covers, even filling in, i never do exact replay.

i always grab the basic groove, and most of the fills, but add/subtract as i feel fit.

usually works out well.

Well, they're a punk band so I doubt they're THAT good :rolleyes::smash:


Also, I'm doing it cos I'm really crap at remembering structures and it's just easier if I have it written down until it sinks in and becomes muscle memory.
I'm not doing it bang on anyway, its mostly about getting the fills right and riding on the correct cymbal and stopping at the right time!!!


There's also this other band I could be getting involved with that implied they're kicking their current drummer out because he's struggling to play parts that were originally done by a drum machine!!! It's not mega hard, a bit challenging as its like asking someone to learn a jazz song note for note, bar for bar.....but either way, a bit unfair on the guy, don't you think?
