You all post too much.

:)

Anyway, any chance any of you could help me find more of the kind of songs I'm enjoying at the moment? They're an odd kind of song to have a preference for - no particular genre, no particular length or anything like that. They all share a way of (mostly) guitar and bass playing that I'm really liking at the moment, but I've no idea what to call it, as I don't think it's a specific style or anything, just playing little catchy meandering bits of riffs/solos..gah. It's impossible to really say without just providing examples, which I will.

Here; the guitar throughout (but especially at the start) of Stiff Little Fingers - Johnny Was; the wah(?)-influenced guitar that begins after the piano intro on North - Through Fire; most of the instrumental outro of The Stone Roses - I Am the Resurrection; the intro bass and then all the guitar that follows on North - Untitled; finally, more or less all the bass and guitar work throughout The Stone Roses - Fool's Gold. Fool's Gold less so than all the others though, I think.

My hopes aren't high for actually getting answers to this :(
 There's no way Jared and Burt can possibly be the same person. 35,000 posts in 18 months here would be beyond horrible. I would offer to design your blog layout Jom, but I suck at anything involving HTML and other forms of Internet design.
Why is it so hard to believe? Zepfan's made it to 11,000 in less than eight months, not counting the six weeks or so that he's been on various vacations (so it's more like seven months.) Besides, I remember seeing Renaissance early when he had three hundred posts, or so, but then he got a merger and it blew up his postcount by like 10,000 posts. So his join date might not indicate how long Renaissance was actually a member of the forums.

It's possible I misread, though, and maybe his join date transferred to his account when the merge happened. But if I'm right, that would make it more like 25,000 posts in 18 months, which I can easily believe is possible to be done. And after talking to Subtledagger online, I believe it. He told me the meaning of Jared's Renaissance screenname "x Roisin Dubh x" in short enough time after me asking (so that I could be sure that "Burt" and Jared weren't Iming back and forth) and so I'm pretty positive that it's true.

The only thing that keeps me suspicious is that when I appeared and asked "What is the significance of your other screenname" "SubtleDagger" didn't seem to be clear on what I meant. That might have been the point where Burt IMed Jared. But I don't see why this would be the case.

Keep in mind that the joke would be way less funny if this was a prank rather than SubtleDagger being a gimmicked account. The SubtleDagger as-fake-person joke is way funnier.

I'm also really gullible. But I think I believe it.

Bartender 04-20-2005 12:34 PM

Renaissance was originally a member in August 2003.

I've been here longer than 18 months.

I wasn't sure if you were referring to my AIM screen name or my username on here. That's why I had to ask.

Jom 04-20-2005 01:20 PM

I remember that there was an account named SubtleDaggerer (notice the two extra ending letters). He posted in one of my reviews in the old forum once, and I didn't know what was up with that.

I have to drive to another uni now for a presentation :(

That was Subtle's secondary account, when he got banned.

Argh!

This has been a terrible day! First, my walkman breaks, so I couldn't listen to music going to school (yes, not that bad I know), then I lost my busspass, so I was late for school because I had to walk. Finally, I come home and find my copy of Valley of the Damned broken in half on my floor.

Illmatic 04-20-2005 01:41 PM

Goooood afternoon!

Speaking of 4-20, my roommate ("The Dude") has our room covered in smoke. Seriously.

I was just wondering: what does everyone in here think of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? I love that show.

Good luck on your presentation, AH.

I think I'm nearing 6,000 too.

EDIT: Wait, I'm not even at 5,800. Bah.

Ha, you suck.

I'm inching closer to 5,000. The drama continues.

By the way, the Celt's are going all the way...until they crash and burn in the second round of the playoffs.

I'd ask in Other maybe, it seems more of a Funk/Blues Rock hybrid, though I didn't much like it :) I'd say it sounds like a Jazzier/Bluesier RHCP based on my limited knowledge of the genre.

Hell, anyone'll be able to take on the Pistons this year anyway.

Except for, say, Cleveland.

The Pistons just seem to be lacking something this year. And I don't see Phoenix going too far either, given their lack of playoff experience (as a unit. I said "unit".).

The Pistons run hot and cold, but right now they're red-hot, and they have the same starting 5 as last year, and they seem to think no one respects them (see: New England Patriots, The), and the refs let them get away with everything.

Yeah...I just don't like looking at the Western Confrence bracket. Too many teams that I hate  I'm proud of Memphis and Denver, though. Defenitely showing that last year wasn't a fluke. Denver's got a pretty solid line-up and a great coach, they should fare well this year.

George Karl's teams always tend to flame out in the playoffs, though. He had all those great Sonics teams in the 90's and only one made the Finals. The Spurs are going to beat the Nuggets in five games, I think.

I'll give 'em six.

And Memphis will get one win in and they're done.

Illmatic 04-20-2005 02:25 PM

I think you're underestimating the Grizzlies. They're deep, they're well-coached, and they're a terrific defensive basketball team. They play the same pace as the Spurs, which really gives the Suns problems. I think Memphis can push that series to the full 7.

I really don't think the Nuggets hot streak is going to help them going into the playoffs either. Some people say it provides momentum, I just say they are going to fizzle out.

Does anyone think the Heat can beat the Pistons (provided they make it far enough to play each other)?
