70 bucks for a tribute show. Ok, so it's a little better than a tribute show, but 70 bucks? That's like, what you pay for a "real" gig.

Tomahawk 12-21-2004 07:33 AM

It probably costs a lot to run all that digital light crap. Waste of money though.

Also: do any of you people know fuck about shit when it comes to MP3 players?

If you do, is a Creative Zen Touch 20gb mp3 player good? I don't mean the 20gb part, but just that brand and stuff, are they reliable or whatever?

Yes.

I got a creative player before I got my iPod. I will never buy an mp3 player from them again. I had to send it back after it crashed 5 or 6 times in the first few days. It would constantly freeze, and while the controls weren't terrible, once I got my iPod I realized how much they really did leave to be desired. I'm sure Creative has put out new models, and probably improved on some problems they've had, but the fact that they'd put out a useless piece of garbage like that at all is enough to turn me off of the company.

What model did you get at first?

I got an old Creative about 2 1/2 years ago, and it worked fine for me up until I bought a new one a couple of months ago (because the old one's batteries finally gave up, plus it was full after 18 months). My new one hasn't let me down so far, either. Conversely, all my experiences with iPods have been awful.

Odd.

Zappa 12-21-2004 10:54 AM

Some huge blue 20 gig. It was almost as big as a CD player, with a tiny black scroll wheel on the top corner.

Bartender 12-21-2004 10:57 AM

20GB D.A.P. Jukebox thing? That's exactly the model I had :) Worked fine for me.

Maybe Creatives work well in England, and iPods work well in America.

Tomahawk 12-21-2004 11:01 AM

Thanks for the help.
I bought a new one a couple of months ago (because the old one's batteries finally gave up
Do you have to use the batteries that come with it? Can't you change them?

Bartender 12-21-2004 11:33 AM

It came with two sets of lithium ion AAs (rechargeable), each good for a few hundred recharges, and lasting a decent amount of time. I suppose it wouldn't have been impossible to simply switch them out for other lithium AAs, though it was warned that to stick with the ones they came with (and others of the same make) provides for the least chance of problems. There was also obviously the option of buying new ones from Creative once the old ones finally gave up, but by then over two years had passed, and it was full anyway.

That's history and somewhat irrelevant now anyway, as the newer Creatives (Zen and Zen Extra) don't bear all that much resemblance to them. They're smaller (about the size of the iPod now, rather than the big, bulky ones of old, which was their chief disadvantage), and powered by a cell, rather than four individual AAs.

Same here. And I gotta give love to Creative for one thing - I broke a 20GB model, returned it, and they sent me a 60GB model as a replacement. Christmas got NOTHIN on them suckas.

Your birthday sucks.

Mine rules, because July is so far away from every relevant national/religious holiday that nobody can scam it and say 'This is your present for both occasions'.
