Has anyone heard Ark Storm - The Begining Of The New Legend? Japanese Power Metal, very Yngwie influenced, its awesome.

I thought there was going to be one more Dungeon album

Could be. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if it's due to be released soon, and in my hazy stupor of waiting for Christmas break, I plain forgot. I do that a lot actually.

shadow_stalker 12-10-2005 06:33 PM

If there is going to be there should be 1 more tour, with 5 dates in Newcastle :D

Arucard 12-10-2005 06:35 PM

Not even Steerpike has heard Ark Storm? Good god.

JausmetalJ 12-10-2005 06:35 PM

yer, there is a new album before they part.

I WISH they would do another tour around Aust, but its doubtful...

Anyway, Im happy I saw them in Melbourne.

I might have an mp3 or two floating around in my computer, but I've never listened to them. I only just got around to listening to the 6-month-old mp3s of Common Rider.

Don't get your hopes up. Dungeon's last ever gig is commencing as we speak.

/waits for Apocalyptic Raids to post something about it here in a few hours

Steerpike, this power metal filled holiday sounds great. I really to get into some different artists. That should do the trick. :thumb:

JausmetalJ 12-11-2005 04:12 AM

Man, too bad I don't live in Syd/ a little closer too.
Same with you G_Mac. :upset: Oh well, many years of LORD to look forward to :D

shadow_stalker 12-11-2005 05:50 AM

Damn my living on the opposite side of the world to australia

oh well hopefully LORD will make it to the uk

It was fucking awesome. There were guest appearances from two former bassists and a ex-guitarist playing some stuff off Resurrection and earlier.

Highlights for me were Insanity's Fall and the Hellion/Electric Eye cover. I picked up a shirt and patch #9 of the 50 made for the gig

Not to mention Slave Of Love!

Lord Tim 12-11-2005 07:55 AM

Hmm... maybe we should do a LORD / Dungeon thread here or something so we don't keep clogging up this power metal thread? I'm starting to feel a little embarassed about it all!

Next Dungeon album will be out somtime in 2006 and by the way things are going, possibly a LORD album towards the end of 2006 too. Busy! :)

And the gig ROCKED! :) I'll be doing a full wrap up on the LORD forum when I'm less wasted! :)

dUSK 12-11-2005 08:00 AM

Sounds like you had an awesome night Jon. Insanity's Fall was one of the highlights for me as well. The oooOOOooohhh bit is awesome live. Good to see you got a shirt as well. :p

Tim, I hope you had a blast with it being the final Dungeon gig and all. Now on with LORD! :D

Dude, we still get awesome bands...

Like Dragonforce and Edguy!

Bastard.

Speaking of Edguy, one month until Rocket Ride is out!

Shattered_Future 12-11-2005 10:59 AM

I almost bought Hellfire Club a few days ago, but didn't because I know jack **** about it.

Is it a quality album?

Iron Bars 12-11-2005 11:19 AM

Hellfire club is great. One of my favorite PM albums. Very high quality I'd say, so go get it.

Stoic 12-11-2005 11:40 AM
Dungeon are weird. I don't see what is so great about them, I only have the Rise To Power album though.
At some points I find them too old school for my liking but still well played old school. I like the way the gradually grow on me.
I'm listening to some Dungeon samples now. Why didn't anybody tell me that they're amazing?!
haha, the amount of Dungeon converstation in here should have put you into thoughts :p
I'm horrible with people in bands...no idea who's in a lot of them, unless I listen to it for an obscenely long amount of time.
Tell me about it :upset:
Not even Steerpike has heard Ark Storm? Good god.
neoclassical power metal? Sounds like something I would check out :thumb:
Hmm... maybe we should do a LORD / Dungeon thread here or something so we don't keep clogging up this power metal thread? I'm starting to feel a little embarassed about it all!

I dont mind it at all. It's an honor to have a real band member liven up this thread!

Gmac and Apocalyptic Raids, did you meet Tim in person at the live show?!

Lord Tim 12-11-2005 02:18 PM

I met Gmac in Brisbane... did I meet Apocalyptic Raids??

And just to keep this thread a little less "me" related ( :p ) I also whole heartedly recommend Hellfire Club! Best Edguy album IMO and if you like your metal with balls, check out the bonus track which is a version Mysteria with Mille Petrozza from Kreator doing guest vocals - KILLER!

Steerpike 12-11-2005 02:20 PM

As I've said before, there is not one bad song on Hellfire Club. I definately have to get my hands on the Superheroes EP and Rocket Ride.

Lord Abortion 12-11-2005 02:25 PM

Yeah, Hellfire club seriously kicks arse.

NP-Iced Earth-Concequences

"Whooooooooooooaoaoaoaoaoa...you oughta know..."
very underrated SWTWC track

Lord Tim 12-11-2005 06:09 PM

I found Superheroes a little soft compared to Hellfire Club which sort of took me by surprise, 'cos I was expecting something along the same lines, but I can see where they're going with it - they're just starting to really break into the mainstream and want to eat well! HAHA!

I know the guys and they work damn hard on what they do and they don't get as much back as you'd expect, so cheers to them for trying to make a good living! :)

Deth 12-11-2005 08:05 PM

Could someone sum up Edguy for me? I can't really tell what they're like by what's posted here.

Steerpike 12-11-2005 08:40 PM
Could someone sum up Edguy for me? I can't really tell what they're like by what's posted here.
Their early stuff was very symphonic and bombastic, but on Hellfire Club they decided to change direction out of concern of growing stale. They opted for a more stripped-down Iron Maiden/Judas Priest styled classic metal approach.

They wear their influences on their sleeves, but still maintain their own unique sound with very edgy, ass-kicking attitude.

Lord Tim 12-11-2005 09:09 PM

And they have a real cracked sense of humour too, which sometimes finds its way into some of the songs, which is really refreshing - I hate bands that take themselves too seriously all the time.

Their live show is fantastic - Tobi is an excellent frontman, really active and his vocals are spot on, much like the harmony backing vocals... totally incredible. Some bands cheat and use backing tapes for their vocals, but not these guys, it's all real.

Big fan here! I hope we do the next tour with them again when they come back next year! :)

JausmetalJ 12-12-2005 12:23 AM

That would be awsome.
I should really get into Edguy, I've heard a few songs.

Should I make a Dungeon/LORD thread?

I think so :thumb:
