i think i'll buy darkness descends today

GraveRobbersINC 08-01-2004 06:48 AM

Theres an extra song and 3 demos on all of them, they're all a lot better quality. It gives it a different feeling to the songs, but it's a good change.

DisposableHeroes 08-01-2004 07:23 AM

anyone else here getting into Heathen?

Rattlehead 502 08-01-2004 07:42 AM

[QUOTE=JMetallica]Nice. Are there any bonuses? or is it just a standard re-release?[/QUOTE]there are bonuses, 3 demo's and 1 extra song. Collect them all :)

GraveRobbersINC 08-01-2004 05:01 PM

*bump* Does anyone know what happened to Deftoned?

JMetallica 08-01-2004 05:30 PM

He ran off to join the circus. :amaze:

Wow, that's awesome, although most 'bonus' material is really 'songs that weren't good enough to go on the original album'. :p... I'll have to get a copy of the demos though. :D... How do they all sound?

GraveRobbersINC 08-01-2004 05:36 PM

Well the three on rust are of pretty decent quality and are different but the same enough to be cool. The unreleased song is cool too.

thought u all might like too have a look at this thing about slayer:

SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman recently spoke to RiftRock.com about the group's upcoming DVD release, "Reign In Blood Live: Still Reigning", and their next studio album. Several excerpts from the interview follow:

RiftRock.com: The band is putting out yet another live DVD soon that features the album "Reign In Blood" played in its entirety with the original line up. What inspired you guys to film "Reign In Blood Live: Still Reigning"? When and how did the idea come about?

Jeff Hanneman: "The DVD idea was just recent, but the idea to play 'Reign In Blood' in its entirety, we’ve talked about that for years, because its only 28 minutes we thought it would be cool to just throw it in a set, but it really caught fire when [drummer] Dave [Lombardo] got back in the band so it was like 'Dave's back in the band? We should do it.' And since the record label and Rick Rubin were having some problems, he suggested we wait until next year, so we said, '**** it, let's record 'Reign In Blood' live with Dave Lombardo and put it on DVD."

RiftRock.com: Does the band have any other plans to record live CD’s or DVD’s of albums in their entirety?

Jeff Hanneman: "Not after we finish this one, we are going to be done with the live stuff for awhile. We get people asking why don’t you put out 'South of Heaven' in its entirety? (laughs) but I don't know, that's down the road."

RiftRock.com: The band is said to be working on material for a new album, How many songs have you written so far for the album?

Jeff Hanneman: "We've got at least 10 songs musically because we always write material first, I have a handful and Kerry [King] does too, but we haven’t gotten into writing lyrics yet. We have plenty of songs to record when we are done touring, the album should be out pretty quick."

RiftRock.com: Has Dave Lombardo re-entering the fold had any influence on the new material?

Jeff Hanneman: "Oh yeah, anytime you have a drummer like Dave that's an amazing drummer, he's always a big influence, he'll tell us where we should have a pause, where we should stop at parts."

And as for the megadeth reissues u lot were talking about i'll probably get rust and peace sells. suprisngley I don't have any megadeth albums :upset:

Kurtz 08-01-2004 08:27 PM

Don't get the Rust in Peace remaster. Go to a used cd store and get an original. Peace Sells kind of lost the classic 'punch' the originals, so don't get that either, but the remaster isn't that bad. And putting 4 demos at the end ruins the listening experience.

I really don't get why Dave had to remaster all their albums. I mean, what's the point of fixing something that isn't broken? The only remaster that's worth getting is SFSGSW because the original has terrible production. Just some advice.

JMetallica 08-02-2004 12:24 AM

Noo... So Far had an awesome production. Well, perhaps it wasn't exactly textbook, but it leant another dimension to the finished album. I've been listening to it a lot over the last 2 days and I think it has risen to the top of my megadeth list as far as quality goes.

I don't particualarly like the idea of releases either. It'd be like giving Galileo the huble telescope or Leonardo da Vinci an apache helecopter. True, it may seem 'better', but lets not screw with history. :D

DimebagDarrell 08-02-2004 10:23 AM

yeah i agree with you on that Jmet, so far has always been overlooked and i dont know why its brillaint sure its not as good as rip or psbwb but with songs like set the world afire, hook in mouth and in my darkest hour i sometimes wonder why people dont like it much :upset:

Anyone heard of Metal Messiah iwant to hear some by them after i realised they came from the same little town that i live in :)

manuscriptreplica 08-02-2004 10:25 AM

Anyone heard the Repulsion - Horrified album? Thoughts?

DisposableHeroes 08-02-2004 10:29 AM

GraveRobbersINC 08-02-2004 12:31 PM

Does anyone here like Metal Church, I haven't heard them, but I guess there a popular thrash band.

sensitiveorgan00 08-02-2004 12:36 PM

I haven't heard any stuff from Metal Church, but Lars Ulrich got kicked out of Metal Church back in teh day.

RCA 08-02-2004 12:37 PM

I've heard a few Metal Church songs, but they didn't sound like thrash. I think I downloaded the wrong ones...

By the way, wasn't Lars offered a spot in Metal Church before he moved to SF?

DisposableHeroes 08-02-2004 12:49 PM

nah, metal church are more just a metal band i think

RCA 08-02-2004 12:50 PM

^^^

That explains the non-thrashiness I guess.

DisposableHeroes 08-02-2004 12:52 PM

yup, though i think i may check them out though. Metallica once played a 'secret' gig supporting them under the name damage inc. i believe
