How in the hell do you know my password for this?!!?
Oh snap, account hijack'd.

It's kind of funny that he knew that you'd be posting in the CR thread, so he leaves a message there.

thickasabrick 11-10-2005 07:18 PM

I've been listening to The Times They Are A-Changin' a lot lately. Along with that Bright Eyes album I mentioned a little while ago.

Today we had our Rememberance Day ceremony...a few of my semi-friends played Knockin' On Heaven's Door. It was excellently done, although they covered the Avril Lavigne version (different key than the original)...but my guitarist friend still used the original solo, just changed the key.

Another group of my more metal-happy friends did a great cover of One. One of the guitarists looked exactly like Robert Fripp, I had never noticed he looked like Fripp until I saw him up there with his hair in a pony tail, his glasses, his dress clothes, and his guitar. I laughed. He executed the solo's perfectly too. (He's one of those lame-ass guitarists who practice everything until they can play it perfectly, and they never improvise, move onstage or take their eyes off their guitar because they are too afraid of missing a note)

jpj 11-10-2005 07:22 PM

I absolutely can not stand Bright Eyes.

Many, many months ago the TV listings showed that Wilco would be playing on Austin City Limits followed by Los Lobos. But instead of latin-blues rock, what comes on...FUCKING BRIGHT EYES...he just annoys the hell out of me and I hate his lyrics.

Meh, at least I got to see Wilco.
the Avril Lavigne version
*shudder*

I'm thankful I have never ever heard that.

thickasabrick 11-10-2005 07:48 PM

They should have just made the entire show Bright Eyes. Hahaha.

And the Avril Lavigne version is not exactly horrible. I just don't like her. It's not very different from the original, very basic, mostly just an acoustic guitar and her voice. She doesn't try to pop-punk it up (or whatever she is).

edit - someone neg repped me and said I was the stupidest poster on these forums...or something like that. (from a post a while back, not regarding my Bright Eyes opinion..haha)

JonG 11-10-2005 07:52 PM

Speaking of rep, I got repped last week I think.

I'm up to 212. Yar..

MBS 11-10-2005 07:56 PM

Did they sign it? Go ask the mods in the site forum.
I thought your one on Fogerty was good. Jacaranda did a good job, too.
Hey thanks!

Ugh, Bright Eyes are horrible out of three CD's I have of theirs I only ended up liking one song "No Lies, Just Love" his voice is really annoying, and they call Conor Oberst the Bob Dylan of our generation. Please, god, help us. (I got the CD's for 5 bucks, yay for Used CD's)

I have 120.

Does anyone know why the Pink Floyd thread was closed? I'm sure this was already discussed, but I'm far too tired to read back and find out.

pfft, n00b. I have 283

What Roy Orbison albums would you suggest that I listen to?

Krabsworth 11-10-2005 09:39 PM

I have -24 rep.

PinkFreud 11-10-2005 09:46 PM

still at 226.

still awesome.

Krabsworth 11-10-2005 09:47 PM

Is this fred closing at 50,000 or what?

Jacaranda 11-10-2005 09:51 PM

116 Rep, not bad. I haven't done much to be rep worthy any way though.

Krabsworth 11-10-2005 09:52 PM
116 Rep, not bad. I haven't done much to be rep worthy any way though.
I jus' act pimp as can be, and I still don't get no respect!
Is this fred closing at 50,000 or what?
I don't know :(. If it is, I suggest that we all delete our old posts in this thread.

mwahahahahaa ha

DeusExMachina 11-10-2005 09:55 PM

I say just let it die if it's going to die.

I must reiterate, why did the Pink Floyd thread get closed?

BludgeonySteve 11-10-2005 09:59 PM

Never! We wont go down without a fight!

 the Pink Floyd thread got closed! That's a very good question, Deus. There isn't even an explanation in the thread.

DeusExMachina 11-10-2005 09:59 PM

There's a new one! Huzzah.

jpj 11-10-2005 10:00 PM

If this thread is ever closed it would be around 60,000 posts or whenever the thread starts taking a long time to load, like the old community thread.

Deus: Go to the Improving Mx thread for you answer.

In other news, my power was out for like 2 hours, just came back on, and during that time I realized that my copies Jimi Plays Berkley and Blues Travelers' Travelers & Thieves have gone missing :(

EDIT: 164 rep :-/

And on a completely unrelated not, why the fuck does everyone hate Dylan & the Dead?

Krabsworth 11-10-2005 10:01 PM

It would be blasphemous to close this now, look at the,"Any Other Death Heads?", thread. It has been around since 2002! And the mods don't seem to say much about that.

BludgeonySteve 11-10-2005 10:01 PM

^it's not the length of time it's open. It's the number of posts. I think that it's a crappy rule, though.
There's a new one! Huzzah.
:D

I've really been neglecting the Pink Floyd thread lately. I don't know why, they're almost my favorite band :/

Broken Arrow 11-10-2005 10:24 PM

So right after I say I like LAFE better than EAP. (hopes people understand short forms) I went and listend to EaP, I might acctually like it better now.

I knew you'd see it my way.

NP: Neil Young-World on a String

jpj 11-10-2005 11:04 PM

I guess I could help any way I can, but I don't really think I'd be much use.

The vocals on Tonight's the Night are so off it's funny. Still a pretty good album though.

PinkFreud 11-10-2005 11:05 PM

yeah, i'll help if you need

Drickey 11-11-2005 05:22 AM

Classic rock is brilliant. I grew up listening to pink floyd.

Jacaranda 11-11-2005 07:41 AM

So I'm listening to the new(ish) Stones CD its actually very good, I really like it.

I know I'm slow when it comes to buying new CD's.

jpj 11-11-2005 09:48 AM

I've heard mostly bad things about it and the single I heard from it sucked balls.

robo2448 11-11-2005 10:07 AM

RNR, I'd probably try to get Roy Orbison's Greatest Hits if I were you. It's the only Roy Orbison cd I ever see in stores. I also have a live cd of him but I never see that in stores. I could upload it and send it out if anyone wants it.

I have 93 rep.

I like Dylan and the Dead a lot. So does Thickasabrick. I think us 3 are the only ones that really like it though.

I'll help out on the Woodstock thread.

I like the new Stones cd a lot. Not like their Beggar's Banquet - Exile On Main Street period but still a very good cd. I'd probably give it a 4/5.

/all caught up

And everyone vote Lennon in the vocalist poll. Freddie doesn't need help. Lennon does.

Walrus Gumboot 11-11-2005 11:07 AM

I like Dylan and the Dead

I have 25 rep points, I must be terrible or boring, but hey, at least no neg rep

I also have a Revolver shirt, bitchin

I have Roy Orbison's Greatest hits floating around here somewhere

EDIT: I really, really wanna see Grace Slick get far on this poll

Doctor Night 11-11-2005 11:16 AM

I'd love to get the last post in which I would simply put

'Goodbye, Classic Rock'

PinkFreud 11-11-2005 11:40 AM

i voted janis joplin because freddie needed no help. and i think she deserves to at least get past the first round.

Walrus Gumboot 11-11-2005 11:41 AM

It's not going to close. Especially if we don't let them close us, which we won't

We'll start a revolution
Or a cultural upheaval, in the tradition of Classic Rock, so that they will never mess with the CR thread again :p

Otherwise, it'll have to be "Meet the new thread, same as the old thread"
/synth solo
