Out of curiousity, does anyone here listen to any ska? I've recently discovered ska and I'm addicted.
Oh, oh! Pick me, I love ska I just bought like 4 used Fishbone albums for like 2 dollars awhile ago but haven't got a chance to give them a good listen. But my favorite ska and is by far Might Mighty Bosstones but followed by Aquabats I like the more up-tempo ska... (All ska is up-tempo :S) |
Didn't Lunch upload Fresh Cream like last week though?
Yeah I've had it on my computer for a while, but I'm gonna buy it next. |
David Gilmour is cool. He's such a good guitarist and I like his vocals on "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" better than Roger's.
NP: Fat Old Sun - David Gilmour in Concert |
he's a much better singer than waters. waters shouldnt even be in the vocalists comp.
|
he's a much better singer than waters. waters shouldnt even be in the vocalists comp.
Yeah, what the hell is up with that? |
I often have trouble telling them apart, but I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan.
|
im assuming that a lot of people are retarded and think he sang for most of pink floyd's songs. it could also be a matter of taste, but his voice is so thin and weak and one dimensional and lame that i dont know how ANYone could enjoy it.
edit: i sounded like a jerk. im sure a lot of people are like illmatic, casual listeners of pink floyd who have a hard time. no offense meant. |
Who sings on Money, and Wish You Were Here? I actually like the vocals on Piper at the Gates of Dawn better, I'm not a big Pink Floyd fan.
|
Who sings on Money, and Wish You Were Here? I actually like the vocals on Piper at the Gates of Dawn better, I'm not a big Pink Floyd fan.
Gilmour sings both of those. He sings all the songs on DSOTM. Waters became the main singer late in the band's career. I actually liked Waters voice, it's so cold and depressing. I like Gilmour's voice much more, but Water's voice really fits well on some of the depressing songs like on The Wall. I reallly love the duets parts on the Wall like Waters sings Pink's part and Gilmour's sings the mother's part in Mother. That's awesome stuff. |

Gilmour on both. Syd is all PatGoD |

I don't think you can compare the two. Both Syd and Gilmour had the perfect voices for the type of music they were playing. "Bike" and "The Gnome" wouldn't be the same without Syd's extremly distinctive(sp?) British vocals. None of Dark Side era Floyd wouldn't be the same without Gilmour's vocals that sound so slow and calming it's almost trippy. Gilmour's voice is kinda like his guitar playing honestly not that great but with that kind of style how can you not just fall in love with him. I still wouldn't include Gilmour or Barrett in a top 20 of greatest singers though.... |
I'd include Gilmour, but I'd definitely hesitate to include Barrett.
|
Sweet. Power outtage in the school=10:30 let out.
:) |
Gilmour on both. Syd is all PatGoD
Waters sings on TW does he not. |
Sweet. Power outtage in the school=10:30 let out.
:)
Awesome. I'm stuck in school until 7:30 for jazz band NP:Sister Disco |
Waters sings on TW does he not.
yeah, he does. |
I'd include Gilmour, but I'd definitely hesitate to include Barrett.
Gilmour would be in my top 20 no question, but Barrett doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a top vocalist list, IMO. |

I agree, though that the duets on The Wall are awesome. I think I'm the only guy on here who likes Waters more than Gilmour. Sure, Gilmour is more skilled, and his guitar playing second to none, but I love Waters dark depressing, and often cynical sound. |

I was just about to say that. Gilmour+Wright>Gilmour |
I really like Wright's voice, it's very mellow. Did he sing on anything else?
Everyone go check out my write up on Gregg Allman in YDload's thread. |
I really like Wright's voice, it's very mellow. Did he sing on anything else?
Everyone go check out my write up on Gregg Allman in YDload's thread.
He sang on a few songs on Saucerful of Secrets and Obscured By Clouds. He also did a lot of harmonies with Gilmour on Meddle and DSOTM. http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/pink_floyd_discography.php That has the a list of the studio albums and who sang on each. |

Thanks, I worked on it from about the time I got home from school until whenever it was I posted on it (little over a half hour I guess). I'll go read yours now. EDIT: Yours was good, brief and to the point. I was afraid mine was gonna come out too wordy. I also like how you started by calling him an arrogant prick. Both attention grabbing and 100% true. |
I'm doing a Neil Young one now.
/:cool: /probably won't be that good EDIT-I still havent started, maybe later tonight |

I agree about Barrett but he's not by any means a bad singer as for Gilmour he's a good singer but he isn't great. Great job on doing Waters, Obi One.
Everyone go check out my write up on Gregg Allman in YDload's thread.
He put alot of the Southern taste into the Allman Brothers. Great singer, great job. :thumb: I just got finished listining to Eat a Peach which could quite possibly be the greatest album to come out of the 70's. |

CCR is such a fun band to listen to. In other news, Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits is like perfect. I can't find one song from it that isn't awesome. |
I think I like Live at the Fillmore East better than Eat a Peach.
