Well I kind of want to walk/run more because you get a lot more exercise for the walking and running.

Like, 3 miles walking/running would have to equal out to 8-10 on a bike.
yeah but biking is so much more fun, so I can tolerate a lot more of it. I also run three times a week before I lift weights, but the biking is just so much fun that i can go for hours and I end up burning way more calories than I would going for a jog. and if you find a place with some nice hills and shit, the cardio workout is supreme.

it also shapes your ass/legs much better.

Bread and Faxes 10-13-2008 10:17 AM
i run and play basketball every night. that's pretty much my daily cardio :V
That's a good source of cardio.

But the thing is, your body wants to replace fat with muscle, so if you don't lift any it'll make your legs disproportionate to your upper half.

Kage 10-13-2008 10:18 AM

yeah but i do lift so it's good :)

masscows 10-13-2008 10:18 AM

buff legs yeah!
yeah but i do lift so it's good :)
Well it was directed to Ghoul Hunter, but I didn't anticipate a post in between, but your workout seems very well rounded.

So in your honest opinion, what junk/snack foods am I able to get away with?

only partly true, you can't just gain tone in one area when you work out. it happens all over your body.

he wasn't talking about tone, he was talking about actually building muscle

all of them, just set up your daily routine so you get lots of exercise doing stuff you have to do during the day as well as actually setting aside time for exercise

I used to run for 30 minutes every day and I lost weight slower than I do now and I don't even set aside time for exercise, **** special weight loss methods tbh
only partly true, you can't just gain tone in one area when you work out. it happens all over your body.
Yes true. But you think, if you're doing certain exercises for certain areas, those areas will be more dominant in accepting the workouts.

So in time, it'll become evident that yes, that part of your body has grown more muscle.

it depends on what you really like. I had a shift in my lifestyle due to some spiritual revelations about a year ago, and I tend to avoid anything artificial, which knocks out most "junk" food. You don't need to be that extreme, but try to stick with products that have whole grains and avoid high fructose corn syrup.

Cut out sodas and fried food if at all possible. That's the best thing yo can do. Don't eat fast food. Just don't do it; it's not doing you any favors. In fact, doing just that you will lose plenty of weight and you can really eat whatever you want. it just depends on how far you want to go with it.
he wasn't talking about tone, he was talking about actually building muscle
I know, i'm just saying that either way you WILL be gaining/losing everywhere.

edit@baf's post a few up: ah, i don't lift a ton but i do it. i get my strength/musclebuilding elsewhere.

Well, I'm a fan of subway. Huge fan.

And I always get toasted subs because I don't really like cold subs.

But I want to know if I can just eat a smaller portion and still be ok. Like, instead of footlong, get a 6 inch.

As for snacks, I only eat pretzels and nuts and things.

AA-12 10-13-2008 10:30 AM

dude, subway is fine tbh

Bread and Faxes 10-13-2008 10:31 AM

Well as for a toasted sub like a chicken pizziloa or a meatball or something, I don't know how much better that is then say, taco bell.

Kage 10-13-2008 10:32 AM

I was a huge fan of Subway until i learned that their "whole wheat bread" is not actually whole wheat and it has high fructose corn syrup in it. It's funny because their wheat bread is actually less healthy than their white bread.

That said, yes Subway is a good place. Cutting down on portions is a perfect thing to do. And eat an apple or something instead of getting chips. Subway can be either really healthy, or it can be just as unhealthy as any fast food place. It depends on what you order. Just make sure you load that thing with the veggies :)

Bread and Faxes 10-13-2008 10:34 AM

I'm a huge fan of peppers.

So I'll probably load them up with those.

AA-12 10-13-2008 10:34 AM

my plain meat and cheese subs from subway = elite

masscows 10-13-2008 10:41 AM

subway is nonelite for vegetarians tbh, veggie delights are overpriced and not even that good

Bread and Faxes 10-13-2008 10:43 AM

I'll just put veggies on meat. I don't want to become a hippie. Just a healthy, good looking person.

masscows 10-13-2008 10:44 AM

you calling me a hippie

Bread and Faxes 10-13-2008 10:45 AM
