It's all random right now, because its early and I don't feel like planning and stuff.

SlappedByTheClash 07-16-2005 02:09 PM

Anyone else listen to Motion City Soundtrack, or am I the only psuedo-emo nerd in the whole forum?

Feel free to joke me for listening to random pop bands.

How long would it take for that pirate radio to buffer on dial-up?
I'm losing my internet for about a month so i would like to give a listen if it doesn't take too long

Brain Toad 07-16-2005 02:12 PM

Doesn't buffer too much on dial-up, especially now since barley anyone is listening.

Biscuit_box 07-16-2005 02:28 PM

I'm listening now... you better talk!!!

lynch_me 07-16-2005 02:30 PM

I've seen them live. They were selling a "bigwig nitelight" at their show.

pedro durruti 07-16-2005 02:32 PM

I had a dream I was reading Harry Potter and they were talking about the opening band Bigwig sucked

lynch_me 07-16-2005 02:35 PM
I had a dream I was reading Harry Potter and they were talking about the opening band Bigwig sucked
pedro durruti 07-16-2005 02:36 PM

I like Bigwig.. Harry Potter doesn't

lynch_me 07-16-2005 02:37 PM
I like Bigwig.. Harry Potter doesn't
I like Candy....Rudiments don't.

cheeser_1 07-16-2005 02:41 PM

am i the only one who's affiliated with a real radio station? and also, to be pirate radio, don't you have to actually be doing something illegal? or not?

pedro durruti 07-16-2005 02:42 PM
I like Candy....Rudiments don't.
They have a song called Lucky Charms

Biscuit_box 07-16-2005 02:47 PM
am i the only one who's affiliated with a real radio station? and also, to be pirate radio, don't you have to actually be doing something illegal? or not?
Well they don't have a license to play the stuff so it is in some way illegal. I think

Brain Toad 07-16-2005 02:49 PM
am i the only one who's affiliated with a real radio station? and also, to be pirate radio, don't you have to actually be doing something illegal? or not?
The term pirate radio actually refers to actual radio stations, because it is illegal to broadcast your own radio station because the government owns the frequencies. Ours is called a pirate radio only in name because when I made the no-ip name I was doing a lot of things with pirates etc. And it still fits. Plus most of the DJs play music that they downloaded without paying for, so that in itself is illegal.

albert_bass 07-16-2005 03:04 PM
I've recently got into Bigwig (Stay Asleep), man they are excellent. Not as good as The Specials of course, but still very good.

NP: Johnny Cash - Get Rhythm
No way.

Bigwig >>>>> Specials.

Really they do.

Rise Me Up 07-16-2005 03:08 PM
Bigwig >>>>> Specials.
 You're going straight to hell for that.

albert_bass 07-16-2005 03:15 PM

Obviously you haven't listened to Bigwig.

Forest_Fire 07-16-2005 03:19 PM

I've heard both. And Specials >>>>>>Bigwig

The two aren't even comparable, IMO

white_riot 07-16-2005 03:20 PM

Are Bigwig Ska? I have only heard one song.

J_McMeaty 07-16-2005 03:23 PM

The cd Just One More is brilliant.

albert_bass 07-16-2005 03:26 PM
Are Bigwig Ska? I have only heard one song.
They're not. Only have one "similar to ska" song.
I've heard both. And Specials >>>>>>Bigwig

The two aren't even comparable, IMO
I know they're not, I'm just whoring about them. But really I like them like 1000 times more than the specials. And I like The Specials a lot.

Forest_Fire 07-16-2005 03:29 PM

I can see how people like Bigwig, but I've just never been able to get into them. I'll go to allmusic now and take another listen. It's been a while since I last gave them a chance

albert_bass 07-16-2005 03:30 PM

It's just opinion, you preffer ska so I see how you preffer Specials. And besides that, they're legends.

RetiredAt21 07-16-2005 03:36 PM

I like the Specials alot.

Flagjacket 07-16-2005 04:29 PM

Cause the Specials are great.

guns_of_brixton 07-16-2005 04:46 PM

What's that song that they dedicate to the bouncers at each show? Something about monkeys...?

Jessizzle 07-16-2005 04:53 PM

Today after work I got 3 new cds, The Specials, The Beat and Reel Big Fish..
And tomorrow is the BIGGEST competition of the season ( Horse) Im driving my self insane. I gotta work at 5 30, then get ready and trailer to the show for 7ish.
What's that song that they dedicate to the bouncers at each show? Something about monkeys...?
This one's for the bouncers.
Big, big... Monkey Man!

Aye aye aye, aye aye aye!
Tell you baby,
You huggin up the big monkey man
Aye aye aye, aye aye aye!
Tell you baby,
You huggin up the big monkey man

I never saw you, I only heard of you
huggin up the big monkey man
I never saw you, I only heard of you
huggin up the big monkey man

It's no lie, it's no lie
Them a tell me,
You huggin up the big monkey man
It's no lie, it's no lie
Them a tell me,
You huggin up the big monkey man

Now I know that, now I understand
You're turning a monkey on me
Now I know that, now I understand
You're turning a monkey on me

Aye aye aye, aye aye aye!
Tell you baby,
You huggin up the big monkey man
Aye aye aye, aye aye aye!
Tell you baby,
You huggin up the big monkey man

I was on my way to Banbury Cross,
Then I see a monkey upon a white horse
With rings on he fingers, bells on him toes
Sing a little song, wherever he be
'Cos he's a monkey, 'cos he's a monkey
'Cos he's a weedy little monkey man

Aye aye aye, aye aye aye!
Tell you baby,
You huggin up the big monkey man
Aye aye aye, aye aye aye!
Tell you baby,
You huggin up the big monkey man

(It's called monkey man)

What happened to partying?

And thats the song Dustin. My friend calls my band a ripoff of the Specials, but he only heard us playing the Guns of Brixton.
Is he retarded?
I'm assembling a list of about 4 or 5 songs I want to cover when I get my band going. So far I have: The adicts - calling calling, choking victim - money, and catch 22 - better than you.

Does your band cover anything other than guns of brixton?

Jessizzle 07-16-2005 05:18 PM

Did I find links to the Nintendolites?... Why.. Yes I did.

RetiredAt21 07-16-2005 05:19 PM

My band covers quite a few songs.

Casey Jones-Know This X
Gorilla Biscuits-New Direction
Gorgoroth-Procreating Satan
Give Up The Ghost-AM/PM
Darkthrone-Transylvanian Hunger
Anal Cunt-Art Fag
Bane-Count Me Out
F Minus-Forget Yourself
Underoath-Act of Depression

We haven't had a show yet, but we are gonna narrow it down to 3 or 4 covers. Opinions?

Forest_Fire 07-16-2005 05:22 PM

I haven't heard any of those songs except for New Direction. If you do it good, I'd say play that.

 That is amazing, Jess.

Happy 1990, guys

Jessizzle 07-16-2005 05:27 PM

When Paint Steve Green was a band, we tried to do covers of what everyone liked.
We had some Aquabats, Ramones, Blindside, RHCP, Some spiderman song. and I forget the rest it was last summer.
