ever eeking always rupert 03-19-2006 01:55 PM

I'm not getting my hopes up. Remember, this is Metallica we are speaking about :p

Jev 03-19-2006 01:58 PM

I'll remain optimistic until I hear the new album.

vashts80 03-19-2006 01:59 PM

Creeping Death is broke. Somebody reupload thx.

PepsiMetal 03-19-2006 03:59 PM

Yup, reupload creeping death.

Lol @ james at fuel, "Is this where all wild animals are?" haha

Chu 03-19-2006 07:24 PM

I'll have Creeping Death rhythm down fairly soon - I know it, it's just a matter of getting up to speed atm (Which I find happens all too often :()

I have moved my music equiptment around, but if I find a way to get a microphone to the stuff, I'll see if I can get some recordings, both me and my drummer have improved so much since October (Although I still haven't posted the recordings from October :p)

timmySmi 03-19-2006 07:27 PM

Creeping Death lost its flavor the moment Jason left he owned that song just for the simple fact he's DIE! DIE! DIE! raised the hairs on the back of my neck.

Chu 03-19-2006 09:38 PM

Hey guys, my rhythm playing is solid at the moment (Well, I am very happy with it), I can do most (Popular) techniques fine, I think, except for tapping...

I'm after any song that has somewhere in the rhythm section some tapping? I don't know the name of any particular songs, but I have seen it done Live (A band called Rake Sodomy, I think maybe a Cryptopsy cover?), I'm after anything really, but I'd prefer it, if it wasn't any tech-death bands like Cryptopsy (For example).

Jev 03-20-2006 02:01 AM

Hmm, nothing really comes to mind but I'll look out for you.

The Conjuring by Megadeth has that cool tapping intro.

Hell Bent For Leather by Judas Priest is really good if you're just learning tapping.

meh the conjuring is more slow texturing-type tapping than solo tapping. try the obvious - One by metallica

Jev 03-20-2006 10:06 AM

Hot For Teacher

Chu 03-20-2006 07:41 PM

Yeah... I'm not after Lead tapping really.. I have no intention of learning lead guitar.. Yet (Although I have fallen into the world of sweeping :(), I just want to be able to do everything a rhythm guitarist should be able to do, well... (And imo, that does include some tapping).

Edit: Well, I haven't really found any song that matches what I wanted, but Apocalyptic Raids mentioned Hell Bent For Leather by Judas, and I have been looking at this song, and believe I have tapping down, so I just made a simple rhythm with some tapping, works out well.. Thanks guys :D

You can do sweeping with rhythm. Just learn a few basic sweeping shape via Mark Tremonti on youtube.com

Mechanix72 03-20-2006 09:09 PM

I've got the Metallica discography and am trying to figure out what's an easier Metallica song to cover, I'm still a beginner guitarist.

The first Metallica song I learned was The Call of Ktulu's rhythm section. Helps you learn how to move your fingers around a little.

I can sweep pretty well, I can play the Leper Messiah solo, either sweep or alt. pick, pretty close to speed, it's just tapping that I want to learn, I know no theory, so I think Lead guitar for me is a fair bit away. I'd much rather learn to be a solid rhythm guitarist anyway (Although, ideally I would like to be a Lead guitarist eventually)...

The little pattern I made is like:

E: 0--0-0-0--0-0-17t-10t13t17t-10t13t---... If you can understand this, I know I can't :p

Works pretty well I think.. But then again, I don't know much about guitar except for what I like :p

Edit:
I've got the Metallica discography and am trying to figure out what's an easier Metallica song to cover, I'm still a beginner guitarist.
Can't get much easier then For Whom The Bell Tolls!
And while I consider The Call of The Ktulu a must learn song (The string skipping it teaches is invaluable), I think for basic skipping, you should learn Seek & Destroy (Intro at least, although the whole song is great to play :thumb: ) first, and then when you can do that perfectly 10 times in a row, try The Call of The Ktulu..

Also, are there any other guitarists here who want to do a Metallica-medley collaboration, thing?

Jev 03-21-2006 01:54 AM

I'd consider it. I'm good at pretty much any Metallica rhythm.

superdigg 03-21-2006 03:00 AM

yeah Chu I'd help. I never got around to learning any of the written solos, but the rhythms for MOST songs would be fine.

123... :upset: I agree wholeheartedly. Everytime I listen to Creeping Death, when it gets to the DIE! DIE! DIE! part, I just wanna turn it off.

Yer. XD

I wish Jason would come back. :upset:

Jev 03-21-2006 10:14 AM

I don't, I prefer Rob much more. Apart from the vocals of course.

Yeah.

Ill just have to see what the next album is like.

Jasons vocals were really good though. He backed James up really well. Rob and Kirk.. meh.. Id keep Kirk because he pwnzorzz at Lead, and Rob plays their stuff really well, but writing wise Im not sure. Ill just wait it out. :)

Jev 03-21-2006 10:21 AM

I think everyone agrees that they should kick Lars out.
Kirk's getting sloppier but who can replace him?
It's good to hear them back on track though (the live Creeping Death clip)

Speaking of those clips, could someone please re-upload them for me? :) Please? I was grounded when they were posted. :upset:

Ah, I think Lars should stay.

Like I said in earlier posts, Lars is Metallica.

SimonCore 03-21-2006 10:26 AM

Paul Bostaph should replace Lars. He doesn't have an opinion on anything...all he does is play drums and shuts up!

Jev 03-21-2006 10:27 AM

Haha awesome.

PepsiMetal 03-21-2006 10:27 AM

Tonight's the rock n roll hall of fame thing on VH1. Fuck yeah! :smoke:
