I see it has been brought up but yah just coming in to say that the first ten seconds or so in Tandem sound like Make Yourself-era Incubus on tech metal steroids.

Album is kind of a grower but it's getting there. First half is the strongest I think, although Sex Tapes is definitely in the top 3 songs.

Yazz_Flute 02-27-2011 01:12 PM

That's interesting that I'm not the only one who thought that about Tandem.

I think Sex Tapes is perfect as the closer. I really like the outro riff too, it's a lot simpler than everything else on the album but it's effective.

And the top three songs will probably always be Hair-Trigger, Moonlight, and Dunsel for me. Sex Tapes would make the top five though along with probably Tongue-Splitter.
I know they're from Whitby, but isn't that like just outside Toronto? And Oshawa's sold out too
It's like 45 minutes outside of Toronto, and I don't think anyone considers them to be the same at all. Totally different. Whitby's a total suburb and Oshawa's a real (dead) industry town.

Porklips 02-28-2011 01:35 AM

This was way too hard to listen all the way through the first time. After a couple listens tho, this slays fortress (was sorta disappointed with that one) and may match Kezia. Termites is pretty awesomee.

Jake Boyce 03-01-2011 03:51 PM

A friend of mine had Scurrilous on in his car the other day. It sounds like quite an amazing album. It has it's own sound apart from Kezia and Fortress, but it still keeps true to their overall sound.

Definitely gonna support them and buy it when it comes out on the 22nd!

beans 03-02-2011 03:32 AM

Album sounds, really good from what ive heard thus far. Definitely need some more time with it though.

Ventriloquist 03-02-2011 08:11 AM

was wearing

yesterday and one of the guys was like: does it say Prostitute on your shirt?

fuu

Mute Requiem 03-02-2011 08:40 AM

prostitute hero would be a sweet band name

jrowa001 03-02-2011 11:18 AM

new album has been the quickest 5/5 i have given in a long time. had to delete from my itunes so it can still be fresh when i buy it

Ventriloquist 03-02-2011 01:35 PM

it leaked?

Tyler 03-02-2011 02:02 PM

yea like a week or two ago

Ventriloquist 03-02-2011 02:21 PM

damn, need to check it out

Destructerator 03-05-2011 02:58 AM

How good are they live?

I'm going to see them for the first time in May

Tyler 03-05-2011 03:01 AM

i havent seen the much in the last few years but i've seen them more than most and it really depends on the show.

worth seeing though, some of the best shows ive been to were protest shows. the smaller the venue the better.

shortz 03-05-2011 03:23 AM

I think they're really good live, they def can play their stuff, even if it may be sped up at times. Rody's relatively good live as well.

HellToupee 03-07-2011 10:30 PM

Saw them last weekend
They were better than I was expecting, they all looked to be having fun on stage

Wretch
Goddess Gagged
No Stars Over Bethlehem
Blindfolds Aside
Bone Marrow
Sequoia Throne
Ces't la Vie
Bloodmeat

Everyone was spot on besides Rody who started losing his voice a bit, but he still pulled some very strong harsh vocals, they really took me by surprise
His rant was about masturbating to Call of Duty and not having as many friends as Bring Me The Horizon (who they were following up, and definitely had the most involved crowd, one of the guitarists climbed to the top of the stage scaffolding. Also Protest were on at the same time as Iron Maiden)
Luke and Tim did some backup vocals, aswell as Arif on his little part on Blindfolds
We called for 1 more song, but of course didn't happen, and Arif gave us a departing bow when he left

Tyler 03-07-2011 10:34 PM

yeah they dont play encores. that's luke's thing. if they ever do it's usually a nofx cover

DBlitz 03-08-2011 12:08 AM

damn, apparently they played here yesterday

HellToupee 03-08-2011 12:37 AM

Rody aplogised and said he was losing his voice, then Bone Marrow comes on and THE ROYALTY MUST DIIIIIE and everyone did a double take

JizzInMyPants 03-08-2011 01:48 AM

god damn i can spin the first 25 secs of sex tapes on for inifinty(makes me wanna put on three cheers for revenge), but eh..yea i guess technical dazzling post-hardcore/metalcore whatever you call it does it do it for me much anymore

RFGM 03-08-2011 05:43 AM

It was shit compared to Fortress sorry to say it

I love Fortress. It was so eclectic and great. This album was too much of the same thing, especially with the vocals. I used to consider PtH my 2nd favorite techy band but after this load of bleh I'm gonna give that back to Dillinger

2muchket! 03-08-2011 07:33 AM

I'm sure they're disappointed to hear johnny from Indiana doesn't approve of only clean vocals.

guitarded_chuck 03-08-2011 07:46 AM

yaaa new album seems to be lacking compared to fortress/kezia

pains me to say it, love the guys (smoked a dube with them at a show once ), but they just seem to have put less effort into this album.

i'm still listening to it and it's above-average, but it isn't a standout

Destructerator 03-08-2011 08:18 AM

"...and Pitchfork gives it a 7.9..."

Yeah that's what I'm getting at

toolguitarkid 03-08-2011 01:29 PM
Rody on Facebook, finally putting that bitching kid in his place. This totally made my day.
im suprised that he doesnt listen to his own music. kezia has more screams in 1 song than all of scurrilous.

Tyler 03-08-2011 11:52 PM

not really

jrowa001 03-08-2011 11:59 PM

the one time i saw PTH live was great and disappointing at the same time. on of the members couldnt make the flight because of having drugs on him or something, then they only played for like 20 minutes. still their cover of "Fuck the Border" was the tits

gabethepiratesquid 03-09-2011 12:02 AM

my friend said this band was metalcore then i heard it and it had no screaming so i fukin laughed at him for calling it that, hes a dumbass

but this stuff sucks, its like the vox guy tries to hard to be dio or some shit and the guitars arent very metal

gocsa666 03-09-2011 02:36 PM

Yeah, that was way back, in 2006 I think. Luke had some weed on him so he couldn't leave Canada. They got some guy to replace him but I really can't imagine seeing them play live without Luke.. "Fuck the Border" was very appropriate considering the situation :D

guy is one of the worst trolls I've ever seen, look at his other posts. wouldn't give him much attention.

How much it makes you forget that daddy just cut off babby boy's internet.

JizzInMyPants 03-09-2011 10:51 PM

yup, im feeling this record, pretty highschool musical like

HE'S LOOKIN AT YOU..... YEA-Eh-EH- EAH!

IT WAS GONNA LEAVE EVENTUALLY, SO EVENTUALLY IT DID!

Destructerator 03-09-2011 10:57 PM

"It was gonna leak eventually so eventually it did"

I think. 80% complete lyrics are on Allprotest

Tyler 03-09-2011 11:20 PM

It's leak. And it's "looking at you, kid".

HylianNightmare 03-11-2011 11:24 AM

new stuff is sick

Destructerator 03-11-2011 11:43 PM

How does everyone think this stacks up against Fortress?

gocsa666 03-12-2011 08:24 AM
How does everyone think this stacks up against Fortress?
Dunno if my opinion matters much, but I think it's as good as Fortress if (in some regards) not better. But they are two very different animals, I would listen to either of these two albums for totally different reasons.

guitarded_chuck 03-12-2011 10:28 AM

yeah it's growing on me. two different styles for pth, and i prefer fortress but they're both good. needed a couple listens to get into it tho
