Riva 04-09-2006 03:33 AM

Oh, so no-one even noticed my upload. :(

Stoic 04-09-2006 03:53 AM

I'm sorry Jason, I'm downloading the tracks right now :)

Have you heard Therion's cover of Abba's summernight city by the way? :D

Riva 04-09-2006 03:56 AM

No, I haven't. Hehe. Is it any good? :p

Stoic 04-09-2006 04:00 AM

Yes. Therion give a totally new prespective to the song by making it darker and somehow doomier. Will upload soon \m/

Riva 04-09-2006 04:03 AM

Awesome. \m/ What do you think of those Therion songs?

Stoic 04-09-2006 04:19 AM

Heh, weird for sure. I dont like the single operatic vocals (in the intros) at all but the choirs work fine. The Khlystic Evangelist is more down on earth and crunchy enough while Voyage of Gurdjief is more spacey and far from the metal standards. An interesting listen definitely but I'm not sure whether it has the potential to grow on me. You know what kind of stuff usually gets me hooked :p

Dom Ammad is a band from my city which sounds like Voyage of Gurdjief by the way: http://www.dolammad.com/?id=mp3

Riva 04-09-2006 04:26 AM

Awesome. I'll check them out. Yeah, I like them because they're more power metally than the others. What albums of Therion have you heard, Orestes? I'm fairly certain you'd like Beyond Sanctorum if you heard it.

Stoic 04-09-2006 04:34 AM

I've heard Theli and random songs off other albums. Beyond Sanctorum is early Therion, when they used to play death metal, right? Haha, that was quite the change of direction :p

Riva 04-09-2006 04:41 AM

Yeah it is. Their first three are sort of death metal, then their next three are the turning point albums, then the latest 4 are their symphonic power metal releases. I've turned into a bloody fanboy of them though. :p

Wow. Dol Ammad is great.

Stoic 04-09-2006 04:44 AM

Why "sort of" death metal?

Oh and where am I supposed to send you the ABBA (\m/) cover?

Riva 04-09-2006 04:45 AM

HeavyRiva at gmail.com \m/

Sort of death metal because they had elements of symphony scattered around the place. Awesome still.

Stoic 04-09-2006 04:52 AM

Could you send me a couple of early Therion tracks?

Riva 04-09-2006 04:54 AM

No worries. I'll upload some from Beyond Sanctorum.

JausmetalJ 04-09-2006 04:58 AM

Riva, Im gonna check out those songs now.

Did you get my email? and have you done anything about it?

LT needs to get back here.

Riva 04-09-2006 05:14 AM

I told Jim about it, so we'll just have to wait until he can get around to it. Unfortunately, mods can't change passwords. Sorry.

Orestes, you should have the Beyond Sanctorum sample in your gmail inbox. For all you other soon-to-be fans:

Riva 04-09-2006 05:24 AM

I wish I had included Beyond Sanctorum (the song). Absolutely crushing vocals.

JausmetalJ 04-09-2006 08:19 AM

For Riva, and whoever else wants it. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YAA8AAZB

A couple tracks from Black Majesty: Silent Company. One of Australias biggest powermetal bands.

Once you've had a listen, check out my review at http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review_6101

Enjoy.

Also, I've just been watching the Dungeon: Under the Rising Sun dvd.

All I can say is it is ****king amazing. If you havn't got it yet and like Dungeon, I encourage you to buy it.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-09-2006 08:34 AM

The thing I like most about Under The Rising Sun is the fact that you get the audio as a bonus on CD.

I much prefer live CDs to DVDs.

JausmetalJ 04-09-2006 05:17 PM

No probs Riva. Enjoy Greg :)

I remembered what the Khlysti Evangelist reminded me of. Symphony X, expecially, I think it is, Sea of lies.

Stormrider 04-09-2006 07:40 PM

Stormrider 04-09-2006 08:02 PM

Any songs you would recommend ?

Thanks :)

Riva 04-09-2006 08:07 PM

Stoic 04-10-2006 03:03 AM

I remember that write up and out of the songs he sent I only liked I rule this is why I didnt bother to check them further..

Riva 04-10-2006 04:17 AM

Well, they and Sabaton are a different sort of power metal, I think. Much like Savatage.

speaking of stupid whats this about you wanting to call our band something?

Aye, Chainsaw Skullpture.

Louie said it was awesome, so... I quite like it, nice pun.

Some sort of practice on Wednesday is going to happen, during the day hopefully.

Stormrider 04-10-2006 01:17 PM

Was listeing to some Edguy and Dragonforce today :)

Reminds me how much I need their albums.

NP Dragonforce - Snowland

Deth 04-10-2006 01:25 PM

I've never heard of a 'Force song called Snowland.

Stormrider 04-10-2006 01:28 PM

...

I don't know, it says its Dragonforce...its really short, no vocals. Doesnt sound like Dagonforce though.

Deth 04-10-2006 01:31 PM

If it's 13 seconds long, its Invocation of Apocolyptic Evil.

Just didn't want to be missing out on any Dragonforce.

Stormrider 04-10-2006 01:34 PM

No uits a lil more then a minute :p

I could send it to you if you want ? It probably isn't Dragonforce though.
