Also, anybody have the new Metal Church cd? Any good?

manuscriptreplica 10-08-2004 01:55 AM

Kreator's is coming out next year, I believe.

And Solstice still owns Sepultura.

It is EXCELLENT. I've always been a big metal church fan, i have all of their albums, bar Masterpeace, and truth to tell, Weight of the world doesn't dissapoint at all. Excellent Heavy ****ING Metal to be found right the way through. Vanderhoof still has it, and that special something that made wayne and Howe **** fine vocalists, well the new fella has it. His style is similar to the two before him but his actual voice is a little rougher. A very good replacement.

Yeah sound wise, it's just like hanging in the balance, not much of the frenetic almost-thrash stuff they had on the first two, but all the heaviness and melody that has made them such a great band.

Hehe, anyway, ill stop there before you fall asleep. Go and pick it up, it's definitely one of my top 3 albums of the year; if you like any of their previous albums, you'll like it too. ;)

I thought it was a good CD but not as good as their older stuff
did anyone get Exodus's Tempo of the ****ed? I want to know if it's any good.
I enjoyed it, really thrashy, and it was an interesting album.

However, their older stuff really owns, but this album is indeed not a waste of money.

FatalEnergy 10-08-2004 09:20 PM

It pisses me off that the place I see Megadeth though, Exodus isnt playing with them

manuscriptreplica 10-08-2004 11:00 PM

You're lucky Megadeth is coming to your town, half of the metal bands don't even consider coming to Australia :(

Arise 10-09-2004 04:13 AM
did anyone get Exodus's Tempo of the ****ed? I want to know if it's any good.
I've only heard "War Is mY Sheppard", but dude, that song is so ****ing addictive. I can't get it out of my system. \m/
You're lucky Megadeth is coming to your town, half of the metal bands don't even consider coming to Australia :(
Yeah man, I know what you're goin' through. Its the same thing over here in Sweden.

VR was here though, and the ticket wasn't all that expensive, but the trip to the arena (halfway up the country, I live in the south) + ticket + trip back = waaaaay to much for poor little Arise :upset:

Sweden's not that bad, you would have all these troo necro kvlt bands visiting from Norway. And who's VR?

sensitiveorgan00 10-09-2004 09:07 PM

You Aussies have Destroyer 666 though.

JMetallica 10-09-2004 10:17 PM

... Who never play any gigs. :(... theyve played like 5 times in Australia in the past 3 or so years... and that is across the WHOLE continent :(

manuscriptreplica 10-09-2004 11:15 PM

And Psycroptic have gone to Europe.

They are the only two good metal bands.

Spirit_In_Black 10-09-2004 11:39 PM

just wondering, are motorhead thrash? coz i recently started listening to them and they seem sorta thrashy to me.

FatalEnergy 10-10-2004 02:38 AM

I would say Motorhead were the original thrash band I guess, they pretty much influenced all those bands to make thrash so I guess

JMetallica 10-10-2004 03:45 AM

Nup. Straight up metal, mostly. VERY punky in their early days, infact their first album was straight up punk, but they seemed to change very quickly to that typical motorhead sound. They did influence thrash, but i wouldn't call them a thrash band, eventhough they do have lots of thrash moments.

JMetallica 10-10-2004 04:00 AM
And Psycroptic have gone to Europe.

Man that comment would be true if you left out the "And Psycroptic have gone to Europe. They are the only two good metal bands." part. In other words, that post was plain incorrect. Psycroptic are average at their very best and then australia has some AWESOME bands. Gospel of the horns is AwesomE! AStriaal is fairly decent black metal as are Nazxul. A whole **** load of good black/thrash bands too. Australia has some very decent bands.

I'll send you some Battalion. Excellent black/death from WOLLONGONG :D

LordDargon 10-10-2004 08:33 AM

That dad's home thing kicked ***! I was headbangin! Right on \m/

RavenousMetalist87 10-10-2004 01:11 PM

I was lucky enough to find a good Sepultura CD at Best Buy today.

I decided to get Arise (that was the only good one and probably the only thrash metal one they had avaliable at the store) and so far, I'm liking it.

A few more listens and I'll love it XD

Reminds me a bit of Kreator and Slayer

DisposableHeroes 10-10-2004 01:24 PM

Slipknot/Slayer at London Hammersmith Apollo, here goes...

by the time we got to the venue, people were STILL queing, however it didnt take too long to get inside. So we head upstairs to get a drink before Slayer come on, only trouble is there 4 people serving about 134671 thirsty punters. So while we're still in the que the Slayer intro tape starts playing and we make a quick rush for the door. By the time the second song starts we're settled and i'm thrashing away, they played Hallowed Point which was a surprise. Tom's voice was on top form too, heres the setlist:

Disciple
War Ensemble
At Dawn They Sleep
Praise Of Death (i think it was)
Dead Skin Mask
Seasons In The Abyss
Hallowed Point
South Of Heaven
Chemical Warfare
Hell Awaits
Angel Of Death
Post Mortem
Raining Blood

(during the final 30 seconds of RIB at band got soaked in blood)

Slipknot were boring
