Hey, people think it's strange for a black guy to like classic rock, too...actually, people think it's strange for a black guy to like any music other than rap, for that matter. :-\
I'm sure if you had a fro and dressed like Jimi Hendrix people wouldn't doubt you
Or dreadlocks for that matter
EDIT: I never really thought about that before, (I don't usually because I am from New England and there are very few people that aren't white, my high school has 4 black people, about 10 Latinos, and we are very proud of our 1 Japanese kid ) But you never see any Black metalheads or anything on TV, just as rappers, or maybe the old guys as Blues guitarists, but never rockers

This thread has been slowing down lately.

Don't tell me you all got lives

randy_rhoads 07-05-2005 05:30 AM

Its true, a lot of young people are actually getting into classic rock, i know i am. I love cream, beatles, the who, chuck berry, bachman turner overdrive, the doors, zeppelin, etc. I am sick to death of all the bullsh*t that is considered to be music knowadays.

On Monday I bought-

Pink Floyd-Pink Days and the Fat Old Sun (DSotM live in '73 and Careful with that Axe Eugene and Cymbaline live in '71)
Pink Floyd-Rarities and Archives vol. 2 Radio Sessions
Spirit-12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus (thanks to lunch for the review that made me get this)
The Best of Canned Heat
The Best of Booker T and the MGs
The Yardbirds-Five Live Yardbirds

magicbus 07-05-2005 10:10 AM

Good finds :thumb:

Are those Floyd things bootlegs?

MalcolmYoungRock 07-05-2005 10:18 AM

Is the Yardbirds CD the original lineup?

Which lineup is it?

Broken Arrow 07-05-2005 10:29 AM
Good finds :thumb:

It says Rarities and Archives on it. And its live.

The second one, Radio sessions is early stuff with Syd, and some other unreleased stuff during the early 70's.

It is the original Yardbird line up.

At this flea market thing.

The guy who has the CDs kicked out of high school and became a roadie for a band called Chilliwack then moved on to Lighthouse then on to Steppenwolf when they were known as Sparrow, in the mid 60's. Then he moved from L.A. to Toronto and started running a record shop and started be a photographer for bands that played there. He said he saw Jimi Hendrix live the time he got arrested for heroin in toronto he also went to the festival with the Doors and John Lennon. He's pretty interesting to talk to.

Pink Days and the Fat Old Sun was imported from Europe though but he knocked of $5 on both of those Archive Pink Floyd things. And the 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus didnt have a price tag so he gave it to me for ten because he thought it was such an excellent album.

ATM 07-05-2005 11:54 AM

Oh yea, I found out yesterday that my uncle met John Lennon and Elton John
