Still dislike Yankee Foxtrot? Or was that someone else?

I've learned to like that album, especially "Jesus, etc" -- good song.

Illmatic 11-03-2005 04:49 PM

ABB's Eat a Peach has always felt like a summer album to me, as does most Bob Marley material.
DEEEEETROIT BAAAASKETBAAAALLL.
I love that guy...second-favorite PA guy after the Red Sox' guy.
You NBA fans should post there so we can keep or NBA threads alive.
Ain't that the truth...

No that's the only album I have. I used to dislike it but I listened to it a couple times over the last week and I'm liking it a lot now.

That was crazy. As soon as I posted that I was expecting you'd show up, then 2 seconds later you post a reply.

JonG 11-03-2005 05:49 PM

I have yet to listen to that album. I've had it for awhile also..

"Garcia" is a good album indeed :)

Badmoon 11-03-2005 05:52 PM
That was crazy. As soon as I posted that I was expecting you'd show up, then 2 seconds later you post a reply.
It was actually the mention of Garcia that brought me, but yea :p

thickasabrick 11-03-2005 06:22 PM

I never got to download Garcia...the link expired before I got to it. That seems to happen to me often, I don't like checking my email.

It's been three days since I've smoked pot and holy crap do I have a lot of energy. I'm thinking this might be pretty fun (although I'm actually not really looking forward to the weekend....too tempting).

Broken Arrow 11-03-2005 06:27 PM

I had actually heard a couple of those songs before on some Dead bootlegs form '71 or something. I'm sure they played them quite abit but thats just the first one that came to mind. "Loser" is a good song.

Krabsworth 11-03-2005 06:43 PM

Anyone like Lou Reed? I really want to pick up Transformer sometime. Walk On The Wild Side has such a cool jazz vibe.
Anyone like Lou Reed? I really want to pick up Transformer sometime. Walk On The Wild Side has such a cool jazz vibe.
Transformer is a good album. My favorite song is Perfect Day. Different from VU but still good stuff.

jpj 11-03-2005 06:59 PM

I have Transformer, which is pretty good, and Velvet Underground is alright.

Broken Arrow 11-03-2005 07:10 PM

I only have two VU albums. I like Loaded alot better than Velvet Underground & Nico.

robo2448 11-03-2005 07:14 PM

Loaded is my favorite VU album too. Oh Sweet Nuthin' is my favorite VU song, the first VU song I ever heard, and the song that made me want to buy a VU album. It was on the High Fidelity soundtrack, which is very good BTW.

JonG 11-03-2005 07:25 PM

Yeah, I got Transformer. Haven't listened to it yet though.

I also have VU and Nico, White Light-White Heat and Loaded.

Glitterati 11-03-2005 07:46 PM

This just in, Lucifer Sam is a very awesome song.

I'm listening to PATGOD right, orgasmic.

who loves the sun?
who cares that it makes plants grow?
who cares what it does
since you broke my heart.

good song. the first song i heard was actually one of their most inaccessible, the black angel death song. but then i listened through the vu & nico and loved it.

my favorite velvet underground is, "stephanie says" off of the royal tenenbaum soundtrack as well as off of VU (not the self titled, they have an actual album out called VU)

JonG 11-03-2005 07:59 PM

Man, I'm sitting here listening to Derek Trucks and thinking how bad I need a slide.
Rick Wright better not be dead. The Beach Boys definitely remind me of summer. Nick Drake reminds me of fall.

Born Under a Bad Sign is an awesome song.

Kinks are awesome, Knicks sucks.

Playing with guns = bad
Fall is probably the best season.

Children unde the age of ten are 100 times more likley to die from a swimming poll than a gun, that is playing with a gun unattended. (fun fact)

PinkFreud 11-03-2005 11:09 PM

ugh. what a ****ty night.

i decided that my girlfriend and i should take a break. and now i feel bad. like an idiot. and then she started crying and then i got all emotional. and now i just need to smoke a pack of cigarettes.

classic rock related: i love the woodstock version of with a little help from my friends. mostly due to his frantic, drugged out flailing arms.

blue3 11-03-2005 11:16 PM

That sucks.. Well it's only a 'break' so yeah.
I watch hockey.
Same.

Sure rub it in:upset:. But ya, I suggest you watch it. Apparently he performed The Needle and the Damage Done tonight.

blue3 11-04-2005 01:40 AM

I think I'll just record it and watch it tomorrow. It starts at 1:30 and ends at 2:30.. I'm tired and sleepy :upset:

Britton 11-04-2005 01:40 AM

Dangit! I never hear about these sorta things

Leper 11-04-2005 01:53 AM

That's a little redundant...:p

Jacaranda 11-04-2005 07:50 AM

Darn, missed the Lou Reed talk.

I like Lou Reed, my favorite song of his is "Perfect Day", Transformer is a 5/5 or near album.
Loaded is far better then VU the last 4 songs are all perfect.
I missed Neil also although I saw Stephen Stills on Jay or Conan not long ago.
I hate Pink Floyd rumours. First we had the fake site about a new Floyd album. Now we've got Rick Wright dying. :( I can't find anything on google, so it seems like he's still very much alive.
I thought it was true about their new album...

So, I almost Finished 'Hammer of the Gods' the Led Zeppelin biograpghy, and I got past the part where Bonham dies, and Page's Heroin addiction is in full swing, and Plant's son has died. And It makes me wonder about all those rumours that circulated around them, and how Zeppelin fell apart. It made me feel very sad.

N.P - Iron Maiden - Ghost of the Navigator.

Doctor Night 11-04-2005 11:41 AM
, especially Page's heroin use.
Especially Page's Heroin use. Apparently when they did shows towards the end of Zeppelin, he was doing entire shows sat down. He was thinner than he'd ever been and he didn't move around at all. He took it everyday for 6 years and it only took four days to get him off it, and when he did he was moving around on stage, producing albums again and getting back on tour. If you've ever heard of Richard Cole, he was Zeppelin's tour manager, he was all strung out from Heroin as well, he ended up in a jail in Italy after he killed a man. He was a great motivator of John Bonham(Drinks, Drugs, and Partywise, if you get what I mean) and personally I place quite a bit of blame on him for the death of Zeppelin

magicbus 11-04-2005 12:52 PM

Can someone send out Paul McCartney's s/t and Ram?

Today in class we finished with the Stones, and listened to some of Lennon and McCartney's solo stuff. I ruled my Dylan test also.

I'm reading that book too, although I haven't had much time to get in to it. It is sad how the band fell apart. I wonder even if Bonham haden't died, the band still would have collapsed. It seems like thats the way things were headed with all those tragic things that happened to them. His death was the final blow, I think.

thickasabrick 11-04-2005 02:01 PM

Any of you guys get Readers Digest? The newest one has an interview with Paul Mcartney. I don't really have a point to this, he mostly talked about where he is in life right now and all that sort of stuff....he made a lot of jokes and I could tell he still had the sense of humour he always had, fame definitely hasn't gone to his head (compared to most famous people). The interviewer asked him for a funny story about John (Lennon) and he told the story about them in their club days when John got really drunk and came back onstage with a toilet seat around his neck...then sang the rest of the show laying down.

Anyone else read that article? It definitely wasn't the best interview they've ever had, Joni Mitchell's interview the other month was actually a lot more intereseting.
