Powderfinger Rocks 07-03-2005 11:19 PM
I've actually only listened to half of it and haven't really picked a favourite song yet, but once i listen to it more, i'll get back to you. All of the first 6 songs are awesome though.
I think you'll find that the first 6 songs are better than the last 6 songs (in general). Some songs like Low aren't really as good as the others.
By the way, do you have a [Hidden Track]? Because I do and it's called 'Till Kingdom Come and I heard that people in other places around the world have different Hidden Tracks.

RockAndRoll 07-03-2005 11:35 PM
There's a tribute to Queen on MuchMoreMusic right now. Axl Rose, Robert Plant, Elton John, David Bowie....a bunch of people singing Queen songs with the original band backing them up. All going to AIDS research, too.
Ya I've seen that a bunch of times.

The posers that were wearing Good Charlotte shirts last year are wearing Led Zepplin and Iron Maiden. Shirts this year. Yep, life is strange.

RockAndRoll 07-03-2005 11:49 PM
Fix'd
Close tie between those two songs.

Illmatic 07-03-2005 11:54 PM

Also, I don't care what Badmoon says, Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" is better than The Byrds'...I far prefer Dylan's vocals to The Byrds' (The Byrds' vocals bore me to death in "Mr. Tambourine Man).

Ohhhh, your such a rebel!!

:p

Illmatic 07-04-2005 12:02 AM

Well, I knew you were the most outspoken advocate for The Byrds' [inferior :p] cover of it, so...yeah.

Glitterati 07-04-2005 12:03 AM

Badmoon is not pleased.

The Moon doesn't abide.

I only prefer The Byrds' version because of the way Roger McGuinn sings it; it's much different than Dylan's, and I can see how many would dislike his voice on that song.

Np: Toto - Africa

Seafroggys 07-04-2005 12:16 AM

I recently heard Dylan's (original) version for the first time.

I like the Byrd's sound, moreso their clean guitar sound over anything else.

Vocally its very soothing, whereas Dylan seems tad bit more harsh.

Both are excellent, but like most Dylan covers, I prefer the covered version to the original.

I have an entire album that has the Byrds covering Dylan (The Byrds play Dylan) and the only song that the Byrds played better than Dylan is "You Ain't Going Nowhere". His voice fits perfectly with his songs; I don't find it bad at all. Besides the Byrds don't use half the lyrics when they cover him.

ultimaterocker 07-04-2005 12:18 PM

off topic but i have one question and im sure u guys are the one to answer it im pretty sure they are but are rush a canadian group?

RockAndRoll 07-04-2005 12:22 PM

TheDMV 07-04-2005 12:47 PM

They don't always change the lyrics, but they do a lot. The lyrics to "You Ain't Going Nowhere" needed to be edited (Bob Dylan even changed them a bunch; there's various versions); they were a bit too random and I don't think there was much of a rhyme meter. Bob Dylan even started to perform The Byrd's version after he heard it.

His singing can be good at times. It's just not extremely impressive.

When I am done downloading these two albums, I'd be happy to.
