i dont know why some schools use GPA instead of percentages. Just seems tedious to me. I'd rather know I got an 85% than some random number I don't understand

its actually easier to think of classes in terms of GPA/letter grades than it is percentages

on the other hand you could probably argue that for more subjective classes percentages don't carry that much meaning

like in an english class, it's difficult to grade essays based on a percentage wise scale, but it makes more sense (to me) to grade it based on letter grades with different grades having different preconceived notions of success
