Be careful. You wouldn't want to get HIV.
Okay, I trust you guys not to steal it, so I will.

Since many pop-punkers like such a wide variety of music, I plan on starting a bi-weekly article that introduces awesome, lesser known bands from other genres, for people to discuss. It's like the non-pop-punk discussions that used to pop up once in a while, but it's better. :p
Better than Dustin's threads? Nonsense. Sounds cool though. I meant to do them back when we had those, but I never did. I definitely have tons of bands I could introduce to everyone here though. I introduce people to lots of bands over AIM though. (Spence loves Kalmah too, that one makes me :))

That sounds good actually. But is it going to be just random genres? Or like genres that have some relation, like hardcore or punk and other similar genres?

Stupid viruses spreading throughout the internet nowadays. You can't tell who's clean until you get it yourself.

Well I have another FA coming up in a couple of weeks :-*.

It will be Hardcore, Ska, Metalcore, and anything else I feel is appropriate. It won't be much in the realm of punk though, because I don't listen to much punk, and that's what the Punk-Must-Knows were for.

Look for the first issue tonight. I still have to decide what bands to do. Each issue will contain 2 or 3 I think.

Excursions 10-15-2005 09:53 PM

I hope rep is reset again because all this rep whoring talk by me included is getting tiresome.

EDIT: I was thinking of doing something similar as well Brian.

Awesome. As long as it isn't something completely different then they should be pretty good :).

Merge please Spence :p.

I repped you for introducing me to the Bleeders, right?

Brandon: Trust me, they will be good if you're open to new bands/sounds.

Okay, good. I'll try to make sure the bands aren't too well known. I want everyone to learn about at least one new band per issue.

I'll be right back. I need to get something to eat.

Minutemen aren't that great. /been meaning to mention this to you

In other news...balls. I decided to wash my sheets tonight...and then the dryer did a crap job drying them, so now I have wet sheets. :(

DJ Ducksauce 10-15-2005 10:05 PM

I really like Relient K-Sadie Hawkins Dance. My tennis team got me hooked on it. Now I'm interested in Relient K. They also got me hooked on Tenacious D-Tribute. Great song.

Permanent Solution 10-15-2005 10:07 PM

Relient K has some good songs, but a lot of poor ones too. Sadie Hawkins is hella catchy though.

Excursions 10-15-2005 10:08 PM

Listen to the basslines fool.

B 10-15-2005 10:10 PM

Bed time for Brandon.

A lot of people I know like them, but they listen to different kinds of music than me. But yeah, Sadie Hawkins is like addicting. Must...put...something...else...on...-Sublime-Santeria

As for Brian's idea, it sounds cool. I'm always looking for more artists to add to my collection.

GO.

I have a fairly expansive collection, so it should work out pretty well.

This is almost as catchy as that.

Brian, would you be interested in collabing with me on that actually, and I could add like 1 band to all of yours? (No is ok :p)

That would be awesome Vince. You listen to a lot of stuff that even I am unfamiliar with. How would you want to go about doing that exactly?

I was listening to that earlier. Between today and last night I've listened to TOYPAJ, EOTS, and Dude Ranch. (blinkwise)

You just tell me what genres you're planning to cover (as I'll likely not know the bands) and I'll try to come up with something similar enough but different still, and just send you it on AIM before you post it. Just make sure you let me know when you'll need it by for each one.

That sucks. I'm not too happy with slsk right now :-\

Excursions 10-15-2005 10:25 PM

Well, I don't have any other way to send it because my internet is 56kb. When your sooulseek starts working again we shall see.

Okay cool. I don't plan on cover genres though, as that would limit the number of issues. I actually plan on introducing bands from genres outside of pop-punk. So one issue could include a Ska band and Melodic Hardcore band, or any other combination of genres.

I guess we could each submit one band per issue. That way each issue would only contain two bands, and it wouldn't be overwhelming.

Oh, and what should we title the series. We need something creative.

DJ Ducksauce 10-15-2005 10:25 PM

When I use SLSK, I have to leave it on all night. I may get about 7-10 songs done. Sometims only 3 though.
Yeah, it's a lot cleaner though. It does bother me a bit now though.

Drink something warm. Or take medicine if you're not opposed to it.

Also, I must say, earplugs in band are totally yay. My ears aren't ringing for once!

Woah, I just tried editing. How sexi.
I never wear earplugs. I've been REALLY close the speakers at enough concerts to have damaged enough ears not to be bothered by practice volume.

And I played and sang for six ours.

We made a song about Bacon, too. It rocks your face off.

I don't want to end up deaf early on. They need to last me till I die in 20 or so years :p

Plus my cymbals are Wuhans, so they have this Asian wash to them and it's so high and clangy. Lovely, but loud.
