My friend goes to college tomorrow. I'm going to apply for a job at a liquor store. There's 3 in my town. One of them I know is hiring, and I know that the other 2 had "help wanted" signs up less than a month ago.

Do you think I should bring a resume? Or just ask if they have an application form? There can't be too many requirements to work at a liquor store, can there?

Futuro 09-05-2006 12:40 AM

Might need to be 21. Although im not sure on that one.

EDIT: Unless your in canada.

Win A Rabbit 09-05-2006 12:41 AM

Yeah I'm in canada. 18's legal here.

pretty sure its 21 in BC, so that pretty much ruled out me going to UBC or UVic

stevensonmat2 09-05-2006 12:52 AM

Is it a dangerous job in canada? Around here you run the risk of being held up/

The crime in my town is like "Oh no. Someone graffiti-ed over the graffiti on the skate park again." There hasn't been a robbery since I've lived here (9 years).

Pillow covers? Who are we trying to fool? Let's just bring our official KKK suits. :thumb:

Apparently I'm real good at cheering up my friend who's all super sad and everything. I want to ask her to come camping with me and my friends in 3 weeks, but I don't want her to get the wrong idea. (She's got a boyfriend who I don't really like, but he's good to her, which is a good thing)

Corkofski 09-05-2006 01:35 AM
I'd take mewithoutYou over them any day. I think they're christian. Or Relient K. Oh well. The whole "Christian ______ band" classification is stupid. Just like "vegan bands". Some people like the band that much more just because they share common beliefs.
I HATE Relient K. You'd listen to them over Underoath?

Aaron 09-05-2006 06:20 AM

hi berk, im talking to you twice

Janeway 09-05-2006 09:58 AM

I can NOT believe I made my log 5 pages long.

Everybody elses was absolute crap. Nobody read the books, everybody spark noted it. I was one of the three who read all of them. What the fuck?
Every time I do work, I'm always the only one to do it.

I microwaved a hot dog and it exploded.

LoneStarDrummer 09-05-2006 11:49 AM

someone posted a thread with a link to a pdf file jammed packed with about 128 (i think that's how many there were) hybrids.

i looked through it and saved it, but haven't practiced any yet.

ugh, its like 40 degrees out and im wearing a t shirt and shorts.

im so sleepy right now.

MatthewMeredith 09-05-2006 12:56 PM

Hey team! I'm at my first day of university today! I just got out of English 111, and I must say, my teacher is a snoooooore. He rambled on for an hour, and then we had to write a 150 word "essay" (more like paragraph) on whether we prefer writing or speaking. Hm. Speaking? No ****, right? Anyways.

In half an hour I'm off to my first of 4 consecutive music courses. Sooooo stoked!

After that, I have a two and a half hour break before going to Astronomy 111. Also quite stoked for that.

Wow, looking at my schedule again, I have 10 courses... with a total of... 20 credits.

CasB 09-05-2006 01:03 PM

So...if you prefer speaking, you have to write 150 words? That rediculous

LoneStarDrummer 09-05-2006 01:03 PM

it's drizzling outside and it's around 68-70 degrees outside. starting to feel like winter already.

MatthewMeredith 09-05-2006 01:06 PM
So...if you prefer speaking, you have to write 150 words? That rediculous
Yea haha my first sentences were this:

"The benefits of speaking are exponentially greater than those of writing. I realize the irony of this statement, and would like the reader to know that one can not always speak to a person directly."

I thought it was pretty funny, and it's not for marks so I had a bit of fun with it. Woo!

Pleaseme 09-05-2006 01:06 PM

For fucks sake, bouncers are total wankers. I went clubbing last night, and halfway through one of them came up to me and because I was wearing a hat, grabbed my neck and threw me out! I couldn't hear what he was saying, and not realising what he meant I just put the hat back on. Whoopsy daisy.

LoneStarDrummer 09-05-2006 01:22 PM

i don't really understand the hat rule that clubs have.

i could see why if it were a fancy place and they wanted everyone to look nice, but even crappy places have that rule.

Pleaseme 09-05-2006 01:32 PM

I asked (while horribly drunk), and they said it was because you could conceal weapons or something. Also I think a hat or hoodie makes you look suspicious and hides your face, which i guess they'd hate.
A lesson hard learned, I suppose.

Win A Rabbit 09-05-2006 02:16 PM
I HATE Relient K. You'd listen to them over Underoath?
Definately. Relient K's a decent pop band, whereas Underoath is a boring, repetitive, predictable, dime-a-dozen band.

On another note, I am incredibly sick today. I've been awake for 2 hours, I've spent atleast an hour in the bathroom. I have no clue how to get rid of this feeling. I think it was the cottage cheese I had yesterday. I knew that was a bad idea.

Drum Phil 09-05-2006 02:18 PM

Relient K have some cool tunes.

To be fair i'd much rather listen to the Spice Girls over most of the crap berk listens to.

Sunshine 09-05-2006 02:18 PM

Relient K > Underoath.

Anyway...y'know what's awesome? Edamame.

Y'know what isn't? Commissary prices are going up =/

Drum Phil 09-05-2006 02:50 PM

Hmmmm so apparently i hit

Win A Rabbit 09-05-2006 03:33 PM

The car I get when I get my license is a Relient K. My grampa's old car, it's just collecting dust now. I don't know if I'll even drive it though. May just give it to my brother.

Drum Phil 09-05-2006 03:35 PM

A 3 wheeler?

I used to love those hedgehog killers

Janeway 09-05-2006 03:47 PM

How the hell am I supposed to apply for a job at a funeral home?

What the hell am I supposed to actually do at a funeral home?

They recommend working at one before you go to mortuary school to see if you enjoy the work and will be able to handle it. I'm going to have to do an apprenticeship to get my liscense, anyways. Why can't I just wait 'til then?

Win A Rabbit 09-05-2006 03:52 PM

Sounds like a fun career choice.

I think my brother and his friends are leaving. Drums time for me.

I'm liking this whole "school time" thing, since my parents are working, and my brother's at school, which means I can finally play drums more than once or twice a week. Yay.

Corkofski 09-05-2006 03:52 PM

why do you want to work in one anyway?
