Oh yeah, did I tell you guys that when I went to buy my harmonica...I found one in the key of C (just a Hohner Blues Band one) and took it up to the counter....and apparently the computers said there were none in stock, so I got it for free! How lucky is that. I also bought two capos, they were both just cheap ones (both under 5 bucks) because I always seem to lose my capos. So now I can fully copy Bob Dylan to the extent of my skills.

I also made a harmonica rack using a coathanger and some tape, it's around my neck right now.

It works really good actually...it just isn't very attractive.

I'm trying to figure out the notes on this harmonica, I figured it would just go C D E F G A B C...then I realized there were ten holes. So now I've figured out that the fourth hole is a C, fifth is E, sixth is G and 7th is C, and for those same holes except sucking in it's D, F, A and B. Making C D E F G A B C...but I can't figure out what the first three and last three holes are. Does anyone know?

Well my mom keeps moaning and wailing because she thinks I'm going to poke out my eye on one of the coathanger ends. Everyone else just treated me with the same smug indifference I'm used to.

Although, IMO if you are using notes you aren't going to get as far

Three steps to harmonica sucess:
1) Learn to play one note at a time
2) read tabs, practice a couple of songs
3) play it by ear

Yep that's what I did/do. I still need to work on being able to play it by ear. I can't bend notes well at all though, do you have any strategies on that? I want some more harmonicas in different keys, all I have is a G. I've mastered vibrato though:cool:

I have a website that says what key every Dylan harmonica part is in. If anyone's interested, I'll find the link.

I'm interested

Bending is really just a case of pulling in too hard on one of the lower notes
Do you know what it is or what it sounds like? That might help if you don't

Bring it on Home by LZ uses good bendage

Very useful methinks. Doesn't tab the songs out for you, but it says what key every single songs are in. I think I just need more practice bending, because right now my bending attempts sound terrible.

That website is great. I like how they have backing tracks too. I learned Bad Moon Rising from that site, I play that song a lot, fun song to play in G.

Random thought of the day: Dan Akroyd is really good on harmonica. I listened to The Blues Brothers Soundtrack this morning. Great stuff.

Anyone else think Donovon is awesome?

^I only have Beat Cafe but I love him sorta hard to find stuff by him anywhere I think I had to order mine from Ear Candy (Local Shop).

magicbus 10-30-2005 09:03 PM

- I found a cheap harmonica that I'm going to practice on until I buy a better one.
- I like All Things Must Pass, again.
- One Nation Under A Groove is pretty sweet. It's probably my favorite Funkadelic album.
- How about less spam, eh?

I just looked that up on Amazon. Recent album. It sounds interesting from the reviews. Is it good?

I have Sunshine Superman which somebody uploaded a long time ago. It's very good.

Its great album took awhile to grow on me, I'll upload it tonight maybe if I have time, stupid Biology.

I might be able to upload Sunshine Superman tomorrow if you're interested. Tomorrow is Halloween though, so you may have to wait a few days.

Sunshine Superman is cool, I have it. Donovan is just cool all around.

Is Talking Heads considered classic rock? I've heard them played on classic rock stations. They are my second favorite band, and I wonder if talking about them in this thread would be appropriate.

We often discuss non-classic rock topics in here, but I'd have to say I know basically nothing about that band.
