I think you've heard them but if you haven't, check out 1000 Funerals (I have a link handy if you drop your e-mail)

And idk if you got Austin's send-out or not. He sent out some quality funeral doom by the name of Loss.
I've been meaning to check 1000 Funerals as well, send it my way if you please.

Weedeater tomorrow night.

Nothing will be stranger then working late at the library shelving books and then leaving straight from there for the show haha
Dude, you possibly have the best avatar ever. You seem to go to a lot of shows too, haha.
If only I had a car I'd go to more.

pate 11-05-2007 08:35 PM
I finally got my copy of The Novella Reservoir. I like more then TPHD atm.
It's excellent, but TPHD owns it imo.

But it is awesome having the mix of the older slow stuff with the newer fast stuff live.

gmoneyguy 11-05-2007 08:47 PM

I've noticed some Mikaelish growls on this album.

pate 11-05-2007 09:40 PM

He's always had that voice, and it's the reason people stupidly label them as an Opeth clone.

gmoneyguy 11-05-2007 09:42 PM

It became more evident to me this album. I never noticed it on the others.

staticaxe 11-05-2007 09:43 PM

Led Zepellin
Any new doom recommendation guys?
There is an underground band I have been getting into called The Lamp Of Thoth. I would get you their myspace page but myspace isn't working for me at the moment.

Txus 11-06-2007 12:06 AM

I'll check them out, thanks.

Nemesis: I'm not in the mood for FD :(

rippa32 11-06-2007 12:35 AM

Ok, It's working now. http://www.myspace.com/thelampofthoth
I also bought their demo, its some really good stuff.

the2stranger 11-06-2007 12:04 PM
Hahaha, yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. The music is really great though, one of my favorite funeral doom acts I've heard. Would you like me to send you an album?

I sent it to you finally, Lee. :)
Sorry for the late response, but if you still have the link, yes please.

peter_time(at) hotmail. com

Thanks.

Listening to Ufomammut now, great stoner with a nice spacey tinge.

Txus 11-06-2007 12:27 PM

I've been shrooming and listening to Ufomammut lately. Lucifer Songs FTW

the2stranger 11-06-2007 12:29 PM

Me's listening to Snailking, also an ace album.
Sup Mike?

Kage 11-06-2007 12:30 PM

Snailking kicks ass.

Tyr 11-06-2007 12:37 PM

What are Ufomammut like? Similar bands?

Iron Bars 11-06-2007 12:38 PM

Peter, did you go to that Esoteric/Forgotten Tomb show?

Kage 11-06-2007 12:50 PM
What are Ufomammut like? Similar bands?
They're psychedelic sludge metal basically. It's really cool, because there are a lot of spacey textures and samples, with really sludgy, heavy, intense guitars.

If I remember correctly, their name is a combination of UFO and the word "mammoth" in Italian or something. So that should give you a bit of an idea of what their music is all about. ;)

the2stranger 11-06-2007 12:58 PM
Peter, did you go to that Esoteric/Forgotten Tomb show?
No, I had placement till late and would arrive way too late for the show. :(
I'm really sad, I really wanted to go.

That seems quite cool. I'll have to check it out.

It's the same in Swedish, actually, so I think I got an idea of their sound.

great band. Saw them a few weeks ago with Pagan Altar.

Txus: Witchsorrow are also worth checking out.

Jondur 11-07-2007 05:28 AM
The Angel and the Dark River or As the Flower Withers
If he hated Trinity he'll definitely hate As the Flower Withers. Anyway he's silly as Trinity has the best song MDB ever did (Thrash of Naked Limbs).

Phototropic 11-07-2007 06:28 AM

anyone head the death of her money?

http://www.myspace.com/thedeathofhermoney

check them out, quite aggressive but great riff-drone atmosphere, similar to Isis's celestial days

anybody from south wales gonna see brant bjork on thursday in swansea?

I would have loved to see that gig, living in Australia was a bit of an issue however.

ATM 11-07-2007 09:15 AM

Weedeater ruled last night.

the2stranger 11-07-2007 09:18 AM

Tell more, I could already guess it would rule. :p
Which songs, how many bongs, how big where the joints, could you even see them on stage through all the smoke? :p

ATM 11-07-2007 09:24 AM

Well, it was at this hole in the wall club which I had never been to. Pretty awesome place, cheap beer and good whiskey. The stage was upstairs, and the room was tiny so it was LOUD.

The first band was a Sunn O))) ripoff, they were pretty bad.
The second band was Ol' Scratch who are really good.

http://www.myspace.com/olscratch

Very doomy and good riffs.

Weedeater killed the place. As soon as they walked upstairs, I could smell weed. They had an immense sound. They pretty much stuck to songs from God Luck and Good Speed. Everyone in the venue was headbanging in unison haha

edit: oh and I spoke with some guy who is releasing a DVD of Spirit Caravan's last show. He said that he just needs to show it to Wino first.

pate 11-07-2007 01:39 PM

OOhh SC owned.

So then you called up your buddy Wino and delivered the footage to him?

Shattered_Future 11-07-2007 03:21 PM

Weedeater would have been a sweet show to go to. Damn you for living in Maryland.

Nebraskan 11-07-2007 03:40 PM

Amorphis was better before they became stoner doom, but I guess this wouldn't be the thread to complain about that lol.

pate 11-07-2007 04:07 PM

Amorphis =/= doom =/= stoner

Shattered_Future 11-07-2007 04:40 PM

Lmao, Amorphis was never stoner OR doom metal. And their new album is the best one they've done yet.

Tyr 11-07-2007 04:41 PM

I really liked Snailking by Ufomammut. Lucifer Songs was good as well, but didn't catch my ear the same way.

pate 11-07-2007 04:58 PM
Lmao, Amorphis was never stoner OR doom metal. And their new album is the best one they've done yet.
It's definitely up there. Their new singer pwns.

Nostalgia 11-07-2007 05:08 PM

Listen to the Doom: VS, lee?
Listen to the Doom: VS, lee?
I think you missed my request for it.

gregbyers [at] gmail [dot] com

Please and thanks. :)

Nostalgia 11-07-2007 05:28 PM

Ah, I probably did, sorry. I'll send it now.

dUSK 11-07-2007 05:29 PM

Much appreciated mate. That Loss you sent was great, so I'm hoping this is of similar quality.
