Good. gg.

twopelu 12-11-2006 05:40 AM
they are great cymbals for the price but you can get better
Surely I could get better ones but what about in that price range and suited for pop music? 300-400 euros, not more.

(Ive found a XS20 set which includes crash 16, crash 18, ride 20 and hihat 14 for 350 euros, its somewhat a bargain!).

the_pure_drummer 12-11-2006 10:18 AM

Please could someone tell me the meinl comparisons to the sabian lines?

Im gona be buying a splash soon and meinl have 40% off instore so im going for a meinl probably, and id just like to know not what to buy!

Drum Phil 12-11-2006 12:24 PM

No.

I dislike heavy cymbals.

oliv_da_skinmasher 12-11-2006 01:48 PM

Fair enough. still go for the rude. they are good cymbals

DrummingNinja 12-11-2006 02:00 PM

Any thoughts on what cymbals are the most complex?

Also I heard that some drummers back in the day used to bury their cymbals for a week or two when they bought them new, to age them? How does it affect the sound?

Zildjian 12-11-2006 02:04 PM

I think K hybrids are the most complex. When you hit them there bright and loud, then the overtones are dark. ITs an amaizing cymbal

And I dont know about burying cymbals. Id try it but its snowing and I dont have a coat :/

Burying cymbals would only make a difference if you buried them for at least 6 months, at the very least.
In short, it's not worth it.

drummguy731 12-11-2006 03:02 PM

That's just like when drummers take sand paper to brand new coated heads, it'll make it sound a little more aged, but definately not as much as playing them to get them aged
this
i second this.

in all seriousness that thing is awesome. I believe Jojo uses it as well.
I don't know what he's saying, but I'd recommend New Beats or Mastersounds.
i'm sayin' regular A Custom hats own the A Custom mastersounds

but in all seriousness, quick beats own mostly every other set of hi hats in the zildjian cymbal collection IMO

A_Guy 12-11-2006 08:12 PM

Ok, so I need to buy a new crash, and I'm going for a darker one that would be used to ride occasionaly (a la Kyuss). I'm looking at a 17" K Custom Dark Crash. Good choice?

drummguy731 12-11-2006 08:13 PM

OOOOO, nice cymbal man! Those things are sooo nice

Inkstar 12-11-2006 11:40 PM

Yep, K Dark Crash's are fantastic.

Has anyone heard the new Meinl MCS series. They currently only have 3 cymbals in that series. Which can only be obtained in there box set.
I have been offered a Meinl MCS 20'' ride for £60 from one of my e-bay sellers. He recently sold me a Meinl Classic 18'' China. He said he is getting new cymbals for christmas and will no longer need it. Apparantly he has not used it as he has a Meinl Classic Flat ride 20'' also. In which is not for sale.

I have listened the the Meinl MCS 20'' Ride on the Meinl website. It sounds pingy with medium sustain. It sound quite heavy also. But they don't always sound as they do on the website. I know its made from B8 alloy also.

Any thoughts or opinions on this will be much appreciated.

This is the description of the MCS series box.

The new MCS CYMBAL SET-UP contains a 14" medium hihat, a 16" medium crash and a 20" medium ride. All specially harmonically matched for the most musical sound. Ready to rock right out of the box.

Good to ride on?

Drum Phil 12-13-2006 01:53 PM

I thought MCS were brass.

I know they're beginner cymbals though, i wouldnt bother.

Definatly B8 alloy but as they are beginner cymbals they are probably poor sound quality.

Little Android Man 12-14-2006 08:23 AM

i find it funny how Zildjian is a walking K hybrid billboard.. lol

im definately looking into a k hybrid crash after all this publicity hes given it.

Inkstar 12-15-2006 10:41 PM

Just ordered an 18" HH Medium crash. Pwn.

Drum Phil 12-16-2006 07:34 AM

Static 12-16-2006 01:09 PM

Yum.

DrumIntoTheNight 12-17-2006 02:46 AM

Hey up guys, I'm looking for a new ride cymbal, I'm currently coping with a Pearl 20" ride, which is awful.

I'm looking for an all rounder I guess, but I definately play more rock than anything else, and some metal too. I was looking at the K Custom Hybrid Ride, it sounds awesome (as far as I can tell from the Zildjian website), but would it be powerful/cutting enough for hard rock music? If not, can you recommend me something different?

Cheers guys.

HeLLmO 12-17-2006 06:53 AM

the K Custom Hybrid is everything and nothing, the alpha and the omega. black and white. yin and yang. chocolate and peanut butter.

Inkstar 12-17-2006 07:01 AM

Lemon and LIME.

We_Love_Lime 12-17-2006 07:02 AM

You rang?

Inkstar 12-17-2006 07:22 AM

Maybe. You woke up?
