George was the most instrumentally talented Beatle IMO, he was great at so many instruments. Paul was a great bassist and a great pianist. He also played guitar and as previously mentioned, drummed on Back in the USSR. John was a very solid musician, but was not as instrumentally talented as George and Paul. Then you have to factor in songwriting talent.
While I love George just as much as the next guy, and would consider him the best guitarist in the band, Paul could play a ton of instruments. His first solo album featured him on every instrument. The only other person on the record was Linda McCartney helping with some backing vocals. |
George Harrison was great. But John Lennon on the other hand is a really good person to look up to.
|
except on all you need is love, its beyond me what happened there.
I think that was a Lennon/McCartney thing, not Harrison. |

Couldn't George play like, 40+ instruments? I'm sure he could've done a solo release with himself on every instrument as well. I like the guitar solo on All You Need is Love... |
My favorite song is Maxwell's Silver Hammer, it's neato.
|
I need recommendations on songs that sound like Happiness Is a Warm Gum, and/or songs that mainly use the singer that had the lyrics:
"I need a fix cause I'm going down Down to the bits that I left uptown I need a fix cause I'm going down" |

I like the guitar solo on All You Need is Love...
It wouldn't have been bad if it hadn't stopped spontaniously. |
Sure, it's kind of abrupt, but I like it.

Do you mean songs that have the same singer as who wrote the lyrics. That's pretty much every Beatles song on and after Rubber Soul. And about Ringo; 1.) He is a good drummer 2.) His got a very loveable personality and got along great with the other Beatles, Pete did not get along as well, for all we know Pete could have decreased the length of the beatles career. 3.) Without Ringo we would be missing a few great Beatle songs. John and Paul wrote some songs specifically with Ringo in mind! And also we cant forget Don't Pass Me By, and Octopus Garden. |

And don't forget his drumwork in, A Day In The Life suberb :) |

Other songs written by John Lennon? Other songs that have the same lyrics as Hapiness is a Warm Gun? Help me out here cause neither of those requests seem to make a lot of sense. |

That was a Lennon/McCartney song, they just wanted Ringo to sing it because he was "Billy Shears" |
Do you mean songs that have the same singer as who wrote the lyrics.
Basically, yes. The singer that sang those lyrics is who I wanted. Sorry for the confusion. |
Basically, yes. The singer that sang those lyrics is who I wanted.
Sorry for the confusion.
That was John. Try Strawberry Fields Forever, A Day in the Life (well, a part of it), Revolution, I'm So Tired. |

Ringo didn't write Pass Me By and Octopus's Garden, did he?
|
Songs Ringo wrote/helped write:
What Goes On (Rubber Soul - Lennon/McCartney/Starkey) Octopus's Garden (Abbey Road - Starkey) Dig It (Let It Be - Lennon/McCartney/Harrison/Starkey) Maggie Mae (Let It Be - Lennon/McCartney/Harrison/Starkey) Don't Pass Me By (White Album - Starkey) |
Songs Ringo wrote/helped write:
I always thought he helped write a lot more songs than that :-/. |
I always thought he helped write a lot more songs than that :-/.
Yea I did too. I know he sings on many more songs, but I looked up the writing credits and that's all he has. |

He should've written more! |
Dig It (Let It Be - Lennon/McCartney/Harrison/Starkey)
Maggie Mae (Let It Be - Lennon/McCartney/Harrison/Starkey)
Those don't count, they're not even full SONGS. |
Didn't Ringo get some credit for Flying from MMT as well? I thought they all got credits for that one.
John and Paul were pretty heavy handed about the songwriting of George and Ringo. They didn't let them have too much input. |
I was pretty sure that Paul wrote What Goes On but maybe Ringo helped.
Maggie Mae was an old traditional song from Liverpool that they knew when they were growing up. And I think the whole band got writing credits on Flying. Is mx breaking down for anyone else? |

He usually wrote 2-3 songs per album (not including pre-Rubber Soul), and had some great classics like Taxman (which I just found out that Paul plays the solo for) Here comes the Sun, While My Guitar Weeps and Something, the only #hit for the Beatles not written by Lennon/Mccartney. |

He wrote a lot more than that. John and Paul put a "two song per record" quote on George. That's how he could release a 3 LP recording in 1970, immediately after the Beatles broke up. It was a bunch of songs he'd written before but hadn't had a chance to put on albums. |

Yeah from around 65 or 66 till the breakup, George was writing nearly as much John and Paul. Maybe not quite that much, but he was writing a ton of stuff. John and Paul often dismissed it without giving it a chance though. John and Paul wouldn't even take While My Guitar Gently Weeps seriously until George brought Clapton in. George was the coolest Beatle. |
Word. George was definitely the coolest.
Word. George was definitely the coolest.
:D George is so awesome. I wish I could still see him in concert :upset: |
Nuh-Uh, John was the coolest!....No, you guys are right, George was the coolest. John's still my favourite though.:)
|
George is awesome. John is too. They all are.
I saw this Beatles show today. I think it was called 'A Long and Winding Road part 5' or something. Anyone seen it? |
It sounds familiar...I think I might've seen some of it before. Speaking of Beatles shows, I really want to get the Anthology DVD's.

Man those Anthology DVD'd rock. I got them and have watched them numerous times. They go so indepth, it's just to bad that John couldn't be in it with them. :upset: |
Here, at long last:
I transcribed the chords/lyrics from the Beatles Ukulele site into right-handed chords and lyrics: http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a258/WalrusGumboot/Something10001.jpg [sic] on the Cb chords, because isn't Cb just B? EDIT: Ach, it's really tiny |

EDIT: Also, thanks for the album :)
I think it's in a different key Originally I thought it was a C chord with the 3rd fret going to 2 and then to one (Uke players might understand this), but I can't find the music for a version like that. I shall keep searching, none the less Also, No problem :) |
Yowza. You have really neat handwriting. Thanks!

I just learned Something. This song has a very cool guitar solo. Score one for George!
