wait is black licorice a euphemism for something else

Angmar 06-21-2012 02:10 PM

Well anise and fennel are what make the black licorice flavor which is undoubtedly one of the worst on this planet.
you and every other so called expert out there say this

if it is so simple why must you all regularly disagree?
they really aren't disagreeing much. media spins, and tabloids go nuts whenever some idiots come to the most far fetched conclusion conceivable because they are too stupid to interpret their data.
the original neverwinter nights is one of my favorite games of all time

it isn't 1/10th as good as the original. play this http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=5820 instead.

would you stop being such an elitist

you fucker

"i have spent a lot of time reading scientific reports"
I viewed this post because I didn't remember why I ignored you. you are that awful Canadian, right? for the record I have a degree in science, so it's only natural I have had to read lots of scientific reports as a part of that study.

christsimpson 06-21-2012 02:45 PM
would you stop being such an elitist
what do you mean? nwn2 really isn't close to nwn in terms of quality. it's made by a different team entirely, and long had a legend status as a bug ridden nightmare. there still are game-breaking bugs in it. they are not common, thankfully, but still. there's just *a lot* of fan-made nwn (the original) modules that are *a lot* better than nwn2.

Gorgon 06-21-2012 02:46 PM

don't you have a degree in computer science?
that's not science

christsimpson 06-21-2012 02:47 PM

my degree is in science. but good luck convincing the world - which BTW is run by computers today - that computer science "isn't science".

i've played nwn2 and thought it was great

Gorgon 06-21-2012 02:49 PM

it doesn't fit the definition of a science very well

christsimpson 06-21-2012 02:52 PM
i've played nwn2 and thought it was great
I like the singleplayer campaign but there isn't as much third-party campaigns and mods for it as for the first one, and the campaign generally isn't as good IMO. of course I harbour a special kind of hate for it, having played it when it was first released and crashed every other second. then they put out an expansion pack which introduced even more bugs, instead of fixing the damn thing.
it doesn't fit the definition of a science very well
your definition of science is *wrong*.

Gorgon 06-21-2012 02:53 PM
they really aren't disagreeing much
the fierce debate over global warming would indicate otherwise, Alexander

it's not just outlier studies that claim it exists

christsimpson 06-21-2012 02:58 PM
this is what im talking about
being correct in an issue isn't elitism as much as simply being correct.
the fierce debate over global warming would indicate otherwise, Alexander
there is no such "fierce debate". this is media hype. science unequivocally agree about global warming. even Wikipedia has its shit together: "The global warming controversy refers to a variety of disputes, significantly more pronounced in the popular media than in the scientific literature", and furthermore "In the scientific literature, there is a strong consensus that global surface temperatures have increased in recent decades and that the trend is caused mainly by human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases. *No* scientific body of national or international standing disagrees with this view".

notice the part where NO ONE is disagreeing.

Gorgon 06-21-2012 03:15 PM

why did I think you were a denier?

anyway yeah the reason anthropogenic climate change is the mainstream consensus is because it's got the most evidence backing it.

BethanyLizard 06-21-2012 04:37 PM

i hate that i even post here

Haz 06-21-2012 05:19 PM

I apologise, your post read as if you were denying it.

There is still much dissent over what is actually causing it though. Scientists get your shit together.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_scientists_opposing_the_mainstream_scientific_assessment_of_global_warming
this is a list of people who have at some point come to different conclusions in their studies. some of them did not say that this means that the generally accepted opinion is wrong, merely that their data interpretation tilts is in another directions. furthermore, some of them have since proven themselves wrong. many of the ones who genuinely believe that their conclusions were right, and the conclusions of everyfreakingbody else were wrong have since changed their stance. additionally, do you know why that article exists? because there are *that* few people who have come to different conclusions than that of the general scientific community, that they can actually make a wee list of it.

I can assure you that global warming and the causes of it are not in any way disputed or argued about in the scientific community. the relevance, however, is. i.e. should we really care. if you look to when industrialisation came along, global warming obviously was affected. and lookey, we're still here. moreover, our endeavours didn't cause either of the bigger ice ages.
