i reckon the authority is a good idea, but the only bands i have a ridiculous knowledge on are the filaments, pro-pain and of course maiden, so i guess i would be at a loss.
|
what is the maiden authority?
|
what is the maiden authority?
the three most knowladable people in this thread, who know more about maiden than everyone else, and they moderate maiden discussions and stuff. |
:thumb: my names on there!
anywho, just got back from band practice, what you guys been up to
No Problem, you seem to know what your talking about... I just been on my daily drinking session, I met this cool barman, who told me how to down aftershock properly, it had more of a kick than 85% Absinthe. It was 'kin Ace. Oh and I need to check how much it's gonna cost me to go to Paris in June to see the Hallowed band... Gur: I think just about every poster in this thread agrees with the idea. |

That's the proposal we're putting forward, to give you a brief ideas about what our authority is. |
Joe got it in one, very succint might I add.
|
then i wouldnt say sack-man no offense to him but i know him and the amount of knowledge he has about maiden
and as for lord_abortion any kind of authority would just go striaght to his head |
I was thinking YDLoad but he doesn't know enough about Maiden, or so he syas.
|

 now i felt somewhat stupid, i realy dont know why, i just did :p anyway, nice GurS! |
meh.
well in the end, it will come down to respect and knowledge, i think that even though i havent posted here much, it all comes down to what you say (IE. revelations being the best dickinson era song) i totally support the idiea of authorities what does succint mean? |
everyone go over to the "best 12-string song" thread and say Prodigal Son
|

Why did my head suddenly get bigger? The new member thing is gonna be a bugger to choose...I suggest a vote from all the members that post in this thread. Anyone agree? |
I actualy think we're ok with three for now. If we get a sudden influx of new members, then we should get a fourth, but right now, the three of us are just about competent :p

i get the Runto the Hills biografy soon, so if its somthing we dont know, i can find it in 2 - 3 minutes  :thumb: |
yup.
im just wondering GurS, i know you love Nicko with all of your drumming heart, but what do you think is his best song? (drum wise) i may have to be conservative and say 'where eagles dare' but the drumming on 'hallowed be thy name' and 'the prisoner' (when he does it, not clive) both seem to be good. |
*Puts on Gur Mask* I think the best Nicko song is..........
*Drum Roll* ........Out of the Silent Planet. I think the Run to the Hills Biography should be required reading for the Maiden Crew :thumb: |
After much deliberation, I'm gonna say Out Of The Silent Planet. Fills wise, it's not very good, as there are basically no fills, but as for a beat... the bass-drum triplets you hear from the second chorus onwards incredible. He's doing that with ONE FOOT. It's near impossible, Nicko's probably got the fastest foot in the world, and that's probably the best example of that fact. Other good examples of feet work are The Wicker Man, The Evil That Men Do, No More Lies and The Mercenary.
Though the intro fills on Where Eagles Dare are pretty **** good. |

Clive era wise, 'iron maiden' kicks total drumming *** on the record and so does 'muerders in the rue morgue' and 'genghis kahn' |
ghengis kahn i find simple. it's fast, but simple. can you do those triplets with one foot, though?
|
I think the Trooper is a pretty good song Drum wise...So many fills. Nicko surely sold his sould to the Devil for such mastery on the tubs.
|
Oh, and a futher reason why Nicko is amazing - he's entirely 100% self-taught
|

yes, i dont play double pedals, i find them boring and kind of cheating i can probably do it because i used to play alot of punk, and it builds pedal power amazingly |
haha

definate agreement there. |
yes.. thats why hes an hardcore christian.. :D
Well how else could he have such skills on teh tubs? Nicko is the Greatest Drummer this side of anything :thumb: What a guy! |
i dont mean to sound stupid, and everyone will hate me for saying this, but have you heard the dragonforce drummer?
|
