Could someone recommend me some good Post Rock, thanks.
|
Can someone tell me what post rock, and post hardcore, and post etc etc is?
|
I searched, and this is a good definition that Permanent Solution gave:
Post is what happens when you take influences from one genre, but take it somewhere relatively far from where it started, so that it's clearly not said genre, but the influence is still clear.
here is the thread its from http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=410167&highlight=post+rock |
^It's like a progression of the style, basically, but without necessarily using qualities that would get them called prog rock. So post punk is punk that doesn't sound like what you would just call, "punk". A well known (I think) quote about post rock seems to be "using rock instrumentation to create non-rock-like music", or something to that effect.
EDIT: typed that before Malaclypse there posted.
Can someone recommend me other bands in the line of Circle Takes The Square?
Possibly Hot Cross. They don't have the long, spacey rock bits, though. City of Caterpillar and A Day in Black And White do, but I don't like them all that much.
Could someone recommend me some good Post Rock bands, thanks.
Is this, you like post rock and want some new stuff, or you want to check out post rock? |

I know little about post rock, but I believe you can't go wrong with Explosions In The Sky and Red Sparowes. Possibly Sigur Ros as well.
|
Yeah, them, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Slint, seem to be the most commonly recommended post rock bands. If you want more in-depth recommendations, I think you'd be better off going to Alt/Indie (specifically, a guy there called Wanker), since they generally talk about post rock more, and know more about it.
EDIT: There's a thread there that's somewhat about post rock now, as it happens. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=438274 |

Can anyone recommend me some Neal Morse, Spock's Beard, or Translatic songs? I heard Neal Morse's last solo album "?" a while ago and I liked it, so I'd like to hear some more of his stuff.

Eucharist. Get Mirrorworlds. |
So, lately, I've been listening to a lot of stuff off of the Underworld and Matrix soundtracks (both of the Underworld ones, and the first two Matrix ones), and I'm really digging a lot of the more Industrial type stuff, and I was wondering if there was anything anybody else in here could recommend for me?
Examples of what I really like (for those who have heard them): Aiden - The Last Sunrise (Dust Mix) (Just this version though, I don't mean the original song) Marilyn Manson - This Is The New Sh*t Rammstein - Du Haust Rob Zombie - Reload A Perfect Circle - Judith (Renholder Mix) SKinny Puppy - Optimissed And I generally like a lot of Marilyn Manson and some MSI stuff. So please, throw some more of it in my direction! |
Try these artists:
Die Krupps Godhead KMFDM Orgy Zeromancer |
KMFDM is my suggestion too. Big influences on half the bands TMA said.
