Hmm it may be the Farenheit 9/11 on tv behind me, but I think we really need a band like the Beatles. We need some good clean songs that everyone can enjoy. Like "All you need is love" that is one of the best messages and truest messages ever in a song. There's very few great positive songs that could be anthems these days. I think "Let There Be Love" by Oasis of their latest cd could be a really good anthem.

****! Thanks to the guy who uploaded "Plastic Ono Band" it's an awesome album! I'd never heard that version of Mother. I only heard the single edit. And I was suprised to hear many John Lennon songs I hadnt heard before. Well Well Well is really great and sounds like a Jimi Hendrix song to me.

Walrus Gumboot 08-02-2005 06:39 PM
I've got the very best of John Lennon, and I've got a bunch of Paul McCartney tunes on my computer. I've found that McCartney's strength are his melodies, alot of his lyrics can be a bit cheesy, like put it there "Give me your hand, I'd like to shake it, I wanna show you Im your friend" but once it get's to the chorus it's just too catchy to resist.

But i've heard...pretty much nothing from George, and I've heard a few songs from Ringo. Ringo's stuff is really catchy and sounds like beatle material, but his voice isnt the best out there. I've gone threw my John phase and my Paul phase, so now, what are some good Ringo/George songs/albums I should check out?
DEFINATLY download All Things Must Pass, I uploaded it onto 'Other Music' a couple days ago

robo2448 08-02-2005 06:51 PM
Thank you SO much :D

Mrs Robinson is a great song but the Jesus bit is a little cheesy if you ask me

EDIT: Crap, it's an m4a. How do you get those to work on WMP?
I'm not sure  I'm not good with computers. You could just download iTunes though- www.itunes.com

MBS 08-02-2005 07:04 PM

Yeah Walrus (I still don't know your real name), just download iTunes. You can take WMA's and convert them and you can play m4a files.
No hatin' allowed in the Beatles Thread, I am afraid you are going to have to take it to the Zeppelin Thread if you wish to continue
Troof.

I'm not quite sure where Simon and Garfunkel came into this convo, but I love Mrs. Robinson, and don't find the Jesus bit cheesy at all.

They call me Amanda, you?

KitKat 08-02-2005 08:31 PM

The first song I ever remember hearing was Here Comes The Sun. The Beatles is a great band, but I'm sorry to say I think they're a bit overrated.
They call me Amanda, you?
He's Aaron, but then again, so am I. So it gets confusing.

DeusExMachina 08-03-2005 10:41 AM

Isn't Kingofdudes Aaron as well? Or am I just crazy? Bah. Now I'm all confused.

I just listened to Sgt. Peppers for the first time in awhile. I have to say, after spending so long with Abbey Road and Rubber Soul, Sgt. Peppers didn't seem quite as good as it used to.

ultimaterocker 08-03-2005 12:27 PM

i still think after all these years the white album outdoes abbey road.

Lunch 08-03-2005 12:28 PM

The White Album is probably my favorite Bealtes album.
The first song I ever remember hearing was Here Comes The Sun. The Beatles is a great band, but I'm sorry to say I think they're a bit overrated.
Well I find it unlogical to be able to overrate the most succesful band in history...

DeusExMachina 08-03-2005 12:32 PM

I don't quite see the appeal of The White Album. Some of it I love, but some of it I just don't like all that much. In my opinion, Abbey Road > Rubber Soul > The White Album.

TerryThorne 08-03-2005 12:44 PM

Neither do I, some songs are alright and a lot are kinda like fillers and don't have anytthing really special about them

Flaminghotchino 08-03-2005 02:51 PM

Yeah white album has some great classics, but it doesn't compete with Sgt. Peppers in my opinion where every track is just so **** good.

El_Goodo 08-03-2005 02:52 PM

Ooo I just downloaded My Sweet Lord I had no idea this song was George Harrison. This is a really great and catchy song :) Has anyone uploaded "All things must pass"

pigonthewing82 08-03-2005 02:54 PM

Well what I like about the White Album is how diverse it is. I mean Abby Road, in all its greatness, is mostly a rock album. The White Album touches nearly every genre rock. I wouldn't dismiss some songs on the White Album as fillers like Revolution #9 is often called a filler, but its more of John trying to be artistic. Its like Pink Floyds tracks from Dark Side of the Moon like On The Run. They arn't fillers, just the artist trying to work outside instruments.

Illmatic 08-03-2005 02:56 PM

I love The White Album...it's such an eclectic, imaginitive album. And it has my two favorite Beatles songs ("While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Dear Prudence")

And I actually didn't mind "Revolution 9" all that much.

Walrus did in Other Music. Download it now. It's an amazing album. Speaking of that, I have a question about George. Does anyone know when he started playing slide guitar? Because I very rarely here it in Beatles albums, but it's in a lot of songs on ATMP.

TheKrabsman~Reviews~ 08-03-2005 02:59 PM

Does anyone have the Let It Be Sessions album?

Where exactly in Other Music? (**** My Sweet Lord is an awesomely catchy song)

Woodstock 08-03-2005 03:11 PM

The first five songs of ATMP are perfect.
He's Aaron, but then again, so am I. So it gets confusing
Yeah, we need a way to differentiate.
Isn't Kingofdudes Aaron as well? Or am I just crazy? Bah. Now I'm all confused.
Yeah, he's an Aaron too.
Does anyone have the Let It Be Sessions album?
I don't think there ever was a Let It Be Sessions album? Where did you hear of this?
Ooo I just downloaded My Sweet Lord I had no idea this song was George Harrison. This is a really great and catchy song Has anyone uploaded "All things must pass"
I think Amanda uploaded it in one of the YSI threads.

Other Music, I just read Robo's post.

NP: All Things Must Pass - The Beatles.

That's right, a bootleg

Edit: Art of Dying is a good song off of All Things Must Pass.

Illmatic 08-03-2005 03:14 PM

Maybe he's talking about Let It Be... Naked?

MBS 08-03-2005 03:19 PM
Maybe he's talking about Let It Be... Naked?
Probably not... Let It Be...Naked is an actual album not sessions.

My friend got it in a torrent, and there was proper album art with it, it was kind of a cool album

MBS 08-03-2005 03:35 PM

Can you tell us what the art looked like?

Yeah, I like the first one. I'm going to go download ATMP right now.

The Krabsman, I love your avatar.
