I think it's a bit "meh". It isn't as great as everyone makes it out to be.

EDIT: Psychocandy, that is.
isnt as great to you.
He's lying.

Abbey Road is their best. Sgt Peppers is cool, but missable.
Correct. Revolver is the second best.

everyday brings us closer to Demon Days.

I finally learned how to play "Spillage" by Minutemen in its entirety. I used to wonder why, in the Punk forum, everyone said that Mike Watt was the best punk bassist ever. Now I am a bit closer to understanding that.

Tangy zizzle 02-24-2005 01:48 AM

Hooah!

The Ashtray Girl 02-24-2005 09:20 AM
I actively dislike Sgt. Peppers. Almost all of it is embarassingly bad. A Day In The Life is utter genius, true - but Jeff Beck's version is better.
You really think so? I dig it quite a lot, couldn't quite tell you why.

Iai 02-24-2005 09:32 AM

I'm digging a mint Yorkie right now.

Master Arkam Kannon 02-24-2005 11:24 AM

This morning its:

Orange Juice
The Gun Club
The Associates

Eoghan 02-24-2005 02:08 PM

Lately i've been listening to The Paddingtons and The Coral :thumb:

Iai 02-24-2005 02:23 PM

Now I'm digging some Port Salut.

Best. Cheese. Ever.

Music-wise, today at work I dug several things, since I just stuck my mp3 player on random. I particularly enjoyed Mansun, Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, and Kraftwerk.

Iai 02-24-2005 02:32 PM

I'm now listening to a compilation CD from my college library, called Blue Christmas - 15 tracks of Faith, Hope, and Seasonal Misery. Came free with Mojo a while back, apparently. Here's the track list.

1. The Flaming Lips - A Change At Christmas (Say It Isn't So)
2. Rufus Wainwright - Spotlight On Christmas
3. Marvin Gaye - Purple Snowflakes
4. The Staple Singers - Who Took The Merry Out Of Christmas?
5. The O'Jays - Christmas Ain't Christmas, New Year's Ain't New Year's Without The One You Love
6. Charles Brown - Please Come Home For Christmas
7. David McAlmont & David Arnold - Have Yourself A Merry Christmas
8. A Girl Called Eddy - The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot
9. James Brown - Let's Make Christmas Mean Something This Year (Pts 1 & 2)
10. Neal Casal - Cora Jones
11. The Handsome Family - So Much Wine
12. Diana Ross & The Supremes - Just A Lonely Christmas
13. Ed Harcourt - In The Bleak Midwinter
14. BB King - Christmas Celebration
15. The Ventures - Jingle Bell Rock

We had a snow day today, so I figured it was kinda fitting. It's a kewl album.

That is a very sexy compilation. It's snowing right now, but somehow I don't feel in the Christmas spirit. I guess I could have used that CD right about now.

Electrocution 02-24-2005 03:49 PM

Does anyone have the new Handsome Boy Modeling School album?

3rdplanet 02-24-2005 04:01 PM

The Secret Machines have caught my ear.

If you mean White People, I'm pretty sure almost everyone on the forum has it.

I love TSM. Their album is excellent.

Yeah, I meant White People. I'll just IM some random person and hope they have it.

I don't have it. I'm kinda undecided on them at the moment. The song with Del and Alex Kapranos is kinda annoying. But the song they did with Cat Power was awesome.

Doctor D. 02-24-2005 04:41 PM

Xiu Xiu
Jackofficers
Prick

The album's more like the Cat Power song, which is my second favourite on the album. You'll at least like Greatest Mistake (Jamie Cullum & John Oates), and Breakdown (Jack Johnson).

Swami 02-24-2005 05:04 PM

Cat Power > Handsome Boy

Iai 02-24-2005 05:06 PM

I only have one record by each (White People, and Moon Pix). I prefer HBMS by a tiny amount.

That's good to know (except I hate Jack Johnson). Might check it out sometime.

Agreed.

Swami 02-24-2005 05:09 PM

Damm straight indieboy!

Little Man being Erased 02-24-2005 05:09 PM

Mmmmm, I really should be picking up You Are Free.

asymm 02-24-2005 05:14 PM

Ack! Christened the indieboy yet again!

and yes, Little Man, you definitely should. Very strong, powerful album.
