If this isn't black metal, then what is it? |
I don't care about the metal-archives people
Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon are classics even??? Dimmu Borgir were symphonic metal like Cradle of Filth. (no idea what DB play now.) Satyricon were weird slightly avant-garde folk stuff with flutes and stuff (somewhat comparable to the first Ulver album, and maybe Ved Buens Ende). now they just play heavy metal. |

Cool dude, that's besides the point of my statement. My point was that even the nitpickiest of metal nerds consider Deafheaven black metal... because they play black metal.
Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon are classics even???
According to the majority of black metal kiddies, yeah.
Dimmu Borgir were symphonic metal like Cradle of Filth.
No. Cheesy keyboards != symphonics, and their earlier stuff doesn't sound like Cradle Of Filth, really the bands only get compared due to image.
Satyricon were weird slightly avant-garde folk stuff with flutes and stuff (somewhat comparable to the first Ulver album, and maybe Ved Buens Ende). now they just play heavy metal.
Avant garde? LMAO And yeah, they have folky elements, but it's still black metal, Jesus dude. |
the nitpicking metal nerds need to up their game then
I don't know what/who "black metal kiddies" are. Dimmu Borgir were symphonic, just like Cradle of Filth's first album and Bal-Sagoth's first album. Cradle of Filth went on to become a goth/symphonic metal band. Bal-Sagoth went on to become a battle/symphonic metal band. Dimmu Borgir didn't really evolve at all (as far up as I've listened). they just got more accessible and "pretty". it works, but I'd rather listen to the battle bands (Bal-Sagoth, Summoning, Elffor, Nazgûl, etc). Satyricon were *slightly* avant-garde. not nearly as much as Ulver or Ved Buens Ende. but they essentially played mediæval-themed folk metal with flutes. it works, but I'd rather listen to Bergtatt. |
Yo. There's not anything symphonic about a keyboardist with cheesy tone ripping of NES soundtracks over black metal, sorry.
|
uhhh I think you have been listening to the wrong For all tid if you hear cheesy keys doing NES soundtracks
|
I think you missed the thing that happened years ago where everyone was talking about the dude ripping off old video game soundtracks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4O33vpC6Xfs This is pretty cheesy/generic, kind of bordering on melodeath, but those keys are not symphonic in any way. |
man i barely listen to black metal any more....just doesn't have the same effect as it once did these days it's all about dm/thrash to me
this happen to anyone else |
christsimpson i have no idea who you are but you are a fucking idiot. don't even have time to point out all the stupid shit you've vomited. i will mention that you said early satyricon was avant garde, which is hilarious.
|
i think it's funnier that he's claiming early satyricon wasn't black metal
|
what the fuck? do you even know what avant garde means
are you speaking of semantics? it means advance guard or vanguard, and refers to experimental or innovative works of (usually) art. but in the music world, it usually refers to works that go across genres, melting them into one style. |
