ugh
|
why do anyone consider Deafheaven and Alcest and this and that black metal
w t f |
i consider deafheaven black metal because they're fucking black metal
alcest's earliest stuff is black metal, but then that got shoegazy yeah |
Deafheaven Alcest etc are NOT black metal
HOWTO: play black metal 1. blasted beats 2. tremolo picking 3. growling/shrieking about Satan 4. evil ambient wind noises 5. faster tremolo picking HOWTO: be black metal 1. have an evil squint 2. burn churches 3. kill ethnic minorities and/or homosexuals 4. go to jail 5. make ambient music in jail 6. get out of jail 7. admit that you don't know how to play ambient music 8. play more black metal 9. build a cake 10. eat it with evil grin on face |
joke kinda sucks
and yeah alcests demo is definitely black metal, and deafheaven is black metal regardless of the like 2 riffs they have that arent black metal riffs |
there's nothing remotely black metal about Deafheaven
Alcest has a demo that's black metal, but it has nothing to do with the music they're making now, which also has nothing remotely black metal about it. Slave Whipping Blasphemy are black metal. if Deafheaven are black metal, then My Bloody Valentine are thrash metal. |
black metal is boring
|
Slave Whipping Blasphemy sure was a random example!
|
there's nothing remotely black metal about Deafheaven
lmao a band can be more melodic and less brooding than the originals and still be black metal
Alcest has a demo that's black metal, but it has nothing to do with the music they're making now, which also has nothing remotely black metal about it.
okay
Slave Whipping Blasphemy are black metal. if Deafheaven are black metal, then My Bloody Valentine are thrash metal.
orchid is screamo, daitro is screamo, therefor as i lay dying is black metal. do you see how stupid your statement is? oh and here, austere is black metal and doesn't sound like slave whipping blasphemy or deafheaven is your head exploding now? |
black metal is not pretty shoegaze music with neato vox
black metal is ugly fucking evil GRWARWARSRRS I find Deafheaven way more similar to My Bloody Valentine than to Slave Whipping Blasphemy I haven't heard of Austere |
shut the fuck up you needle dick
|
deafheaven is not shoegaze lmao
they have a couple of shoegaze-ish parts, but goddamn dude, you have to be trying to show off to some nonexistant elitists to deny that they're pretty much black metal with shoegaze influence |
there is no black metal with shoegaze influence
the whole point of black metal was to create an uncompromisingly ugly music genre it's the other way around Satyricon are more black metal than Deafheaven LOL also what about my argument is "showing off" no one here likes me anyway so who am I showing off to? |
there is no black metal with shoegaze influence
the whole point of black metal was to create an uncompromisingly ugly music genre
that was like 30 years ago, genres evolve
it's the other way around
no, because 20% of a band's music is not the majority of their music
Satyricon are more black metal than Deafheaven LOL
well their earlier stuff probably
also what about my argument is "showing off" no one here likes me anyway so who am I showing off to?
the stuff you're saying is like the shit kids say to please some black metal old head who can't take that music changes over time |
genres don't evolve. stupid trends latch on to terminology. if Deafheaven are black metal, Jimmy Eat World are emo. same difference.
ok yeah I was showing off to the old black metal heads on the mx forum |
genres don't evolve?
well shit |
also Jake (Converge/Deathwish/whatever) calls Deafheaven screamo LOL
|
genres don't evolve.
Minor Threat and Defeater sound the same.
stupid trends latch on to terminology.
Yeah, this does happen, but you can see the clear evolution over time from early black metal to stuff like Deafheaven.
if Deafheaven are black metal, Jimmy Eat World are emo. same difference.
Except Jimmy Eat World isn't emo, while Deafheaven is black metal. |
Minor Threat and Defeater both share the key traits of the hardcore genre. Deafheaven and (early) Darkthrone don't share any key traits.
|
Deafheaven doesn't have eerie, simplistic tremolo picked riffs over blast beats?
Deafheaven has a cold atmosphere, mostly black metal riffs, blast beats, black metal vocals, and a few shoegaze-ish parts. Therefor they're shoegaze with black metal influence, really? |
they occasionally have tremolo picking and blasted beats just like Jimmy Eat World occasionally have upbeat songs with melodic riffs and shouting
mostly black metal riffs and black metal vocals? no cold atmosphere? WTF they're good but they ain't no black metal (or screamo) |
I've been listening to the Deafheaven demo this whole time. Like 4 times through now.
These "occasional" black metal parts are the majority of the demo. Like, fucking shit, even elitist morons on metal-archives realize Deafheaven is black metal aside from the like 5 minutes of shoegaze on the 20 minute demo. |
by your classifications Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon must be BLACK black metal
|
dethklok is the best black metal band
|
by your classifications Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon must be BLACK black metal
You have no room to be sarcastic because you're arguing that 5 minutes is a longer span of time than 15. And why do you keep on bringing up black metal bands that strayed from black metal? Is it because you heard a lot of people say "Dimmu Borgir" isn't black metal in reference to their new stuff or something? |
I'm not being sarcastic
I'm arguing that occasional tremolo picking & blasted beats does not equal black metal any more than whining about girls and punk rock riffs equal emo Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon were never black metal they have been top of the charts in Norway pop metal material all the way stop editing your posts five times a minute you're cramping my style |
I'm not being sarcastic
actually that was a sarcastic statement
I'm arguing that occasional tremolo picking & blasted beats
The majority of the band's demo. Not occasional, now I'm actually tacking up the frame of time the black metal parts take up on the album. First song = 2 minutes of black metal, 1.5 minutes of shoegaze, then 2 more minutes of black metal. Third song = 50 seconds of shoegaze, 2 minutes of black metal, 20 seconds of the shoegaze riff, another black metal riff for a minute, and then a shoegaze-ish outro that has that slower black metal riff continuing in the background. Fourth song = 1:25 acoustic intro, into black metal riff that goes for a minute, transitions into another black metal section that goes on until 5:52 in the song, then it's another slow transition riff that goes into the ambient outro part. The majority of the demo is black metal.
Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon were never black metal
uhhhhhh, wow.
they have been top of the charts in Norway pop metal material all the way
okay, well i'm glad popularity affects genre |
no it wasn't at all
sarcasm is "mocking with irony" I wasn't mocking nor being ironic as per *your* classification of black metal, most of the demo is apparently black metal that you think Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon are/were black metal is kind of a NOUGH SAID for me |
u suck dick
|
no it wasn't at all
sarcasm is "mocking with irony" I wasn't mocking nor being ironic
came off as mocking
as per *your* classification of black metal, most of the demo is apparently black metal
I really wish I wasn't an insomniac, so you could realize like, that you're flat out wrong right now. Once more, even metal-archives lists Deafheaven as black metal. Those kids are the most nitpicky fruitcakes about what "real" metal is on the planet.
that you think Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon are/were black metal is kind of a NOUGH SAID for me
You're denying that albums that most black metal fans consider classics of the genre are black metal... due to the bands changing their sound and being popular. Makes me think that you've never listened to either band's early material. |
