I love that song, it's so happy :)
Yeah, I decided I'm going to try to complete my Neil Young collection no matter what genre/phase it is. Yes that means the techo album from the 80's. I've only got 13 of his albums solo or with Crazyhorse, 2 of his CSNY albums and a Buffalo Springfield album. And a bootleg.
Even Everybody's Rockin' by Neil Young & The Hot Pinks? You're a brave man. |
Whoever wanted Jazz is Dead, hopefully I'll start uploading that soon...I don't think I have much else to add...A Live One, so is CSN&Y, yep...
EDIT: Did you want Laughing Water or Blue Light Rain? |

EDIT: Did you want Laughing Water or Blue Light Rain?
Laughing Water. I went to Best Buy and they didn't have any of the following: Derek Trucks Jazz Is Dead Rory Gallagher Eric Sardinas :( I got the G3 DVD though. :) |
For some reason, I've really been into James Taylor lately. I'm pretty sure I'm the lone James Taylor here :(

Even Everybody's Rockin' by Neil Young & The Hot Pinks? You're a brave man.
I've got Everyobody's Rockin'. It's not as bad as most people make it out to be, half the people who make fun of it have never even heard it. It's just different than his normal style. Although I'll admit I've only listened to it twice. Last night I was wide awake and very bored at midnight, so I started rummaging through every little nook and cranny in my room looking for some weed that I might have forgotten about (it happens quite often, and I did actually find some). Anyways, I also found about ten or fifteen songs (mostly just lyrics, but some chords/melody lines too) that I must have written in the past year or so and forgotten about. It was really wierd because I have no recollection writing any of them, some of them are actually really good and can definitely be used...some of them I just put back where I found them because they were slightly embarressing/crappy. One thing I learned from this is that not only has my songwriting improved in the past several months, but so has my mood. About half of the songs I found were very depressing, some almost seemed like suicide notes in poem form...it was pretty scary actually. Everything I've written lately hasn't been necessarily always "happy", but it's usually at least optimistic. I must have had some major problems when I wrote those songs. np: Bob Dylan's 115th Dream. |

James Taylor is OK, he's not anything too great though. |

I hate that song, so much. Did anyone notice the similar threads thing on the bottom of the page? |

James Taylor really isn't that bad. Everyone around here seems to hate him whenever he's brought up. I have one of his cds but I never listen to it. I remember that it was a pretty good cd though, I should try to find it.
Cocunuts is a pretty good store. A lot like FYE in terms of prices, but better selection. Borders is good too. Sam Goody really, really sucks. Cream tomorrow:cool: |
Yeah, I got both. The new one is in Tokyo with Petrucci. Both great. I didn't like Malmsteen though in the last one.
yeah, i dislike malmsteen in general. i dont much like petrucci either. johnson is amazing though. james talyor is a great songwriter and lyricist. |
All the music stores around me suck so bad. For every good band they will have about four different Greatest Hits albums....and then the "digitally remastered" version of the bands best selling/most popular album. It makes me so very angry!
Which is why I usually just buy vinyl. edit- I don't actually think I've ever listened to James Taylor. He's always sounded like a songwriter that I would like, but I just haven't had any chances to listen to him yet. Malmsteen makes me puke. |
Which is why you go to the indie stores, if there are any.
Really good one in town, a ways to drive (about a 25-30 min.) drive but they have damn good selection. Its the only place in this area that I found a new CD of Deep Purple IN Rock, as well as any BOC CD besides Agents of FOrtune and greatest hits. |

He's entertaining, to say the least. |
Cream tomorrow
Lucky SOB... |
man, i'd rather see Cream than Paul, mainly because I"ve already seen Paul (but if I hadn't seen Paul already, I'd see him over Cream).
Listened to Quadrophenia for the first time today....pretty damn good, not one bad song on it. THough I was expecting it to be better. My parents saw them play Quadrophenia live in '96. |

The way it transitioned from I Am the Sea to The Real Me is so awesome. The Real Me's got a great groove. |

The Real Me has awesome bass playing by Entwistle. |

The Real Me is actually my favorite Who song after Won't Get Fooled Again. Everythings so perfect, Daltrey's intense, soaring vocals, Townsends ringing power chords, and Entwistle and Moon's insane virtuoso skills. For both drums and bass its hard to find a song that displays more talent. |
I really, really, really want to see the Who now that I am suddenly obsessed with them
LVIEWIRED: He did an album called Arc. It is 30 minutes of feedback, ye have been warned |
I really, really, really want to see the Who now that I am suddenly obsessed with them
I'd kill to see The Who, even without the original rythim section intact. Anyone know when they're going to tour next? |
I rented:
Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots at the library today. I was curious, since I've heard a lot of good things about this band. |

The Who should tour sometime soon. They were supposed to tour this year to support a new album, but the album was delayed and so they didn't tour. I believe the album has been delayed indefinitely, but the Who will definitley tour again. They're not done yet, even with half of them dead. I think Pino Palladino usually plays bass for them and Ringo's son Zak drums for them. |

yep, but pino is touring with jeff beck and zak is touring with oasis last i heard. so it might be a while. upload quadrophenia? anyone? |
I just watched a video of The Who performing The Real Me. In the performance, they're old, but Entwistle is still there and dominating on bass. Great performance. I can't wait until they tour.
Edit- If anyone else want to see it, go to www.petetownshend.co.uk and click on Who TV. They show old Who performances. Cool stuff. Now watching Who Are You Live in Boston 2002. I completely forgot about this site, but checked when Walrus asked about touring, this Whotv feature is cool. |
I never had you down as a G3 fan at all...
Heh, I love Vai's music aswell as his guitarwork. I used to be obsessed with Dream Theater also. |

entwistle got better as he aged, no lie. when he died, he was at the peak of his abilities. |
Wow watching Townshend put on a show when he's so old is just awesome. Seeing him do the windmill at 60 years old is great. I would do anything to have lived in the '60s and '70s and been able to see The Who in their prime.
Edit- Now watching Love Reign O'er Me. Everyone should go to www.petetownshend.co.uk and click on Who TV. |
Out of curiousity, what are you classic rockers doing for Halloween? I'm dressing up as a hobo and going trick or treating 'cause I'm old school

He did a full dedicated show, 'cause he's that kinda guy. |
wow, pete's hair

You Gotta Love Classic Rock
Honestly classic rock is the starting point of every great band out there. Look at the most moder of bands like sum 41 my chemical romance, whatching some of there interviews they say there idols are ac/dc, Iron maiden. classic rock started a whole revolution. I have to admit i listen to classic rock all the time. when im with freinds i listen, at school and at home. Classic rock is one of the best kinda music out there.
|
nooooooo Who TV is playing Sister Disco. Worst nightmare come true. Sister Disco actually isn't that bad but disco + The Who are not a very good combination.
Welcome to the forums supercheech. A ton of modern bands are influenced by classic rock bands, but you have to remember that classic rock bands had a ton of influences too. Classic rock didn't just appear out of thin air. |
yes it did! i can prove it!
|
yes it did! i can prove it!
PinkFreud they just played the version of 5:15 with the Entwistle solo you always talk about on Who TV. Man Entwistle is amazing. I need that DVD. That was sick. |
Thanks for warning me about the Neil Young albums but I was already aware of the oddness of his album's. Especially the 80's ones. I've nearly got his entire 70's edition!
